Car did the same thing there’s a sweet spot and I changed my whole starter and it fixed my problem , also just do it urself it’s really easy don’t pay someone to do it
Walked outside last night at work, and my Honda won’t start . Only 76,000 miles & never had a problem. Battery only 1 1/2 old . It has to be the starter, or Alternator
I have an 04 ex cp. 2 years ago mine did this and after a few weeks it wouldn't start at all. Got it towed to my house and my nephew came and took the starter off and cleaned the connections. After that, It worked with no problems for 2 years. So definitely check the connections. Not hard to do on this civic. Now, mine just started to do this again. So im going to have him check the connections again or have to get a new one. Good luck.
1. Check battery health, battery terminals (cleaned off rust terminal, make sure they are tightened not loose)2. Put gear selector to N if started clean / change Gear neutral switch. 3. Check fuse, relay n signal wire/power-ground to starter. 4. Tap starter if start Change old starter
Not too sure how common it is, but mine had a similar issue and it turned out to be a starter ground wire. The starter should be under the airbox or resonator. I took the airbox off of mine and messed around with the cables on the starter, and it’s been working fine ever since.
I hope you fix it, there is a connector at the bottom of the ignition cylinder, that’s the one that gives power to the starter, when that switch goes bad, good luck you need to replace it, but before you buy it try testing the starter on that connector hot wiring that connector if every works switching cables then your ignition switch is faulty
I have a 2005 civic and it looks like brand new from factory even it had been 18 years And still people offer me about 20k dirhams for it but its my daily drive
Juat do a voltage drop test , or measure voltage at the starter to see if its due to a bad starter, bad ground, or if you dont get any voltage at the starter after checking powers and grounds then its a faulty PRDL
I love how the fix was never posted. Just want to add to other comments that it could also be a bad fuel pump. The way you’re rapidly starting after each attempt isn’t letting the pump prime properly either
@@stevem9141 yea coming back to this now - I think it’s less a fuel pump issue and more a sensor issue. Because he’s gotta put it down into drive then into park again to get the car started. So maybe the ECU isn’t recognizing the gear properly. If it thinks you’re in drive it’ll never start
@@stevem9141I had a similar problem in my old Subaru, and I couldn’t think of the term so I scrolled down and somebody said “neutral safety switch” That’s what I was looking for
I have honda city i vtec. When i am trying to start my car a sound ( currrrrr) is coming near by the engine or maybe from the engine. Battery is fully charged. Please give any solution.
Same issue here with my brazilian civic lx 05/06. Will try to put in neutral and do this to see if it works just to leave the car with my dad that’s my mechanic hahahaha
I had this same problem not too long ago, couldn't really figure out the problem until my mechanic friend told me to just smack the starter, literally smack it, it's sounds stupid but, I did it anyways the car started up. At that point he told me the starter is bad. So I replace the starter with a new one and my honda turns on like new. I have a 2005 honda civic ex, hope this helps.
Pero si este auto no enciende Nada ,no hace ruido para nada el motor ni el Star , que se puede Aser Aquí ya cambié el Rely de Ignición y nada 😢 que más , batería está bien casi nueva ok 👍
i have the same problem in odyssey. changed starter still problem exists. infact more frequent now. i a thinking the neutral safe switch is the problem,
@1naequan after changing starter the issue got more frequent. It is very random. I am thinking electrical loose connection. I changed all the relays. I am not seeing issues recently. But I don't think it is resolved.
if you can't jumpstart the car with cables then most likely is a starter. it's so easy to change with this year civic. I had the same problem just kept clicking and became more and more difficult to start
Got this problem right my battery light came on at my co worker tried to give me a jump and that didn’t work so he said it might be the starter or the fuel pump and the tow truck driver said it’s the starter so imma try to change that and see it if works
@@portallama 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ if your starter is bad , the vehicle won’t crank at all. It’ll just click . This is either a starter issue or an ignition issue
First check fuses, then battery then alternator and at last starter.

That would be your neutral safety switch
Hey man I've replaced it already and it still acts up and shows up on the diagnostic reader
Faulty sensor perhaps
It’s your neutral safety switch
Check battery cables and ground cable tightness (connection to car and battery).
I have 2001 Honda Civic. Car doesn't starts in the cold weather. When the weather is good, it starts usually. What could be reason?
I have a Honda civic 2005 with kind of the same problem but mine takes couple of minutes to starts
What was the problem .. did you check it
This works for me, but I have to say "please daddy" first
Damm kinda of looks like a bad key chip
Yes, I have this car as well. It’s taking a little bit longer to start because your starter is bad you have to replace it.
It’s not the starter otherwise you would hear a crank. This has no crank
Starter Solenoid....either add like an Accumax solenoid to the Starting system wired correctly to starter & ignition switch......or buy a new starter
My Honda civic 2005 does the same thing, you guys know what is goin on?
