"The Tower of the Elephant"is just about my all time most favorite Conan tale from the esteemed Robert E. Howard. His fingers must have white hot when he wrote this story. I was always struck by the profound sense of empathy demonstrated by the young barbarian for this strange, otherworldly being, revealing to us a capacity of thought and feeling that one would not normally associate with a barbarian. WOW! As for this particular old-time radio style dramatization, you guys did a superb job.
I've been listening to various "audiobooks" of Howard's Conan stories on RUclips, and I think this is the only one that's really had a good grasp on Conan's character. People either make him out to be a complete idiot, or devoid of compassion. This really puts across his motivations better than any other reading I've found so far.
This was very well produced, absolutely loved every second of it. Some terms were missing, but that was to keep up with pacing, so i am okay with it in the end. Terms like "From what Hell have you crawled?!" and some other small things.
I tell you this, if I stumbled upon this on the radio on a late night, my hand would pause on the dial(Pre-digital age-Remember those weird oscillating sounds!) and I would settle down and listen, sounds like the radio 4...
That was a damn good reading. I was tough on it for the first minute and a half, then I was in. And it kept getting better. Like old time radio. (The Shadow.) Wonderful, wonderful stuff. I remember every word.
Indeed, constantly writing each other and even collaborating. They decided to share the "universe". Conan being based in the distant past whereas Lovecraft is close to the present. @@BlackIce3190
Thanks for sharing this it was pretty awesome. I loved the voice for Conan and the elephant. So not every monster is a bad guy in the Robert e Howard stories? Also aliens exist in the conan universe?
To Baskerville manor your conan recordings are very good but what about any poems of robert e howard as well as a few dramatizations of the boxing stories of robert e howard
I think it’s kinda funny how some women and men overreact to spiders but if a woman killed a spider while saying “die you abomination from hell!” Like Conan does I’d automatically want to marry her. Is that normal?

Yo bro yeah we dig it but as much as I love Howard's prose you can't excuse his racism.
But yeah this is Conan so ok I can handle it. Howard's Howard. Conan's Conan. Pax.
@@dickcocks9966 I don't have to care one way or another. 🤷 He's a fictional character.

This was well done, loved it!
Increíble amazing
Mention of Yog-sothoth , so lovecraftian :D
Yep. Howard and Lovecraft were about as close to best friends as either of those crazy bastards was capable of having.

yes aliens do exist, the elephant being Yag-Kosha was an alien as I recall.
Cool!
This is really good !
Wonderful!
great to be able to hear this hard to find lp
I feel sorry for the Elephant-like alien. Being the last of his kind must be lonely.
I’m a little late to the party but DAMN this is so awesome! REH was a genius fellas
This is one of my favorite Conan stories by Robert E Howard
Because it doesn't have any racism. Or hate speech
Arenzoj What do you mean? Do other Conan stories have that?
You are beyond ignorant. I hope you know that.
@@willthomas2310 Yeah Howard was friends with HP Lovecraft. He was quite racist
Idiot.
JOB WELL DONE!
Great ⚔️
Good stuff
Yup. The city of Zamora!! My kinda town.
Zamorian dog!

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE POST the 1976 album: The Bloodstained God & The Curse of Monolith!... By Crom! that would be awesome ⚔️🛡️
I wish there was more besides this and the frost giants daughter
i think Howard would be tickled pink and other mid texas verbage that one ov his favorite stories was produced like it was a radio play.
This guy's voice acting and presentation are top notch, but I'm used to the other guy lol
How much fun is this? Huh? Huh?!
"YOU SPAWN OF HELL!!!" 😜
gold
Not bad. Not bad at all. Good job.

did you make this?
Oh hi mr.cummins. I loved your research on the ninja. You’re a Conan fan too?
I want to enjoy this, but the music is loud, the narrator is quiet, and the audio is full of errors. Pass.
Agreed, less drama more reading of this great story. Too bad, but it's a misfire.
Crom man!!
Far out man
elephant looks a little too buff
bloody cactus that's how elephants roled in Hyborian times )))
So much distortion :/ too bad because I was enjoying it.
Sorry, cant fking stand the back ground voices.
Horrible...
