Howard was a master of the moment. In his words he captures the reader in his ever present moment, filling his world with action, and detail. The reader is caught up, and taken where Robert E Howard leads. My favorite author, Thanks for posting this.
I bought this LP, which had this on one side and The Tower of the Elephant on the other back in the late 70's. I thought it was pretty keen. It the closest thing to a Conan movie that they had at the time. Both audio tales have stand the test of time.
Kind of fun. Quite different from the text I had in hand (most especially the tense switched from past to present), but still fairly easy to follow and quite enjoyable.
I love this story because it's out in the cold and besides male warriors , he's also tricked by a females beauty . She wasn't laughing once Conan slays the giants though .
There was an episode on Science Fiction Theater (c. 1955) about an arctic explorer lost in the frozen tundra who encounters a alien but human-looking girl dressed in thin gossamer. Anybody know what this episode was?
Its stories like these that make me think Robert E Howard could have become one of the greatest writers to ever live If only he didn't kill himself Or was a racist piece of shit
Robert E. Howard was such a talent. How tragic he took his own life leaving us wanting more of his stories.
A well done offering.
The narrator is terrific - he puts violent emotion into the words.
Magnificently done
5 stars. Thanks to the people responsible. Great delivery of Howard's text without making it sound hackneyed and corny.
This 'radio drama' really brings out Howard's wonderful way with words. The adjectives!

This sounds like the actor who played Jack Flanders. :( He passed away not long ago. He had incredible talent.
Whoever did this was really good. They need to do more!
From what I can gather, this is part of a test for a Conan the Barbarian radio show that was pitched to NPR in the mid-'80s but never picked up.
fantastic ! thank you for sharing these rare gems ! can never get enough Conan .
These Conan paperbacks was my teenage years.
Mine too, I remember even reading them in study hall . Howard wss the first and best of the writers .
This is what pride in your work sounds like.
Nicely read! Thank you for posting this great story.
Im listening to this while jogging stoned to the gills. Conan stories pump me up!
You may just be my spirit animal dude.

Excellent! Subscribed.
You are stoned and jogging, while listening to conan? Well, why not
Is this from the Moondance record from the mud 70s?
Nicely done!
Way better than Todd McLaren's reading on the official Audible version.
I'd love to see this subbed for that one, it's so far superior. It makes Todd Mclaren's reading sound a kindergartner trying to recite there abc's.
Really well done! Only the base sound track has a bit of background noise. Other than that, it is really well done.
EPIC TALE!!!!
Who made this and is there more?
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE POST the 1976 album: The Bloodstained God & The Curse of Monolith!... By Crom! that would be awesome ⚔️🛡️
Please do more.
That giant sounds like Thor !!
What artist made this painting? This looks savage!!!
I wonder who did the recording..... I want to hear the guy do all the other conan stories as well
Fuckin Awesome!
This wudve been really cool if their had been more artwork 2 go along w/it...like perhaps panels of the Barry Smith Marvel comic version.
I agree..there was one drawing of her with her mouth open I seem to remember that caught my eye in a most uncomic way....
To basketvilll manor do you have any of the boxing stories of robert e howard 1906 / 1936
Castle of Terror....would be nice
Check this videogame about the world of Conan, its an RTS like Age of Empires:

I always imagined Conan as red-haired - perhaps because of the 1982 film.
Epic dramatization
Cheated by the gods

You could have done a lot better in your representation of this tale.
