@@BrandonKBoswell I got a Boox Note Air 2 and a Nova Air C and I can select TXT right after I tap that share button. My firmware is 3.3.1 btw.
Denver you are 100% correct! What I was missing was the TXT option. Pinning this.
@@BrandonKBoswell That was the other feature I needed that the BOOX offered that the Remarkable 2 did not: An easy way to export text from notes in order to use in another application. The people I’m doing testing for wanted it to export directly to Ms Word format, but text is close enough for government work (literally)! 👍🏽
From the share you can also share the .txt file via bluetooth directly to your Mac (needs to change mac settings to accept bluetooth sharing). BooxDrop is also another option.
I'm a writer. Longhand conversion accuracy is everything. Most of my zero drafts are written longhand then transcribed to the computer for revision until published. This is not unusual for writers.
Thanks for this. This feature is what has held me back from investing in a tablet like this. The Supernote is looking more viable every day.
Thanks for what you do. Leaning toward getting a Tab X later this year so am comparing and learning at this point.
Video kindof misses a final summary overview and comparison of all tablets.
Maybe a final judgement or ranking could be a thing too.

When you sync the supernote, it sends your files to the cloud, Google drive and Dropbox, also supernote has email
You are correct! They added other cloud providers after I recorded this.
Great video. I recently purchased a Supernote and was playing with the conversion to text option. I wondered how Supernote fared when compared to other devices. Thanks also for going into how to export these files as well. Very helpful.

Whats the home screen on the Note Air 2 Plus? I don't think I've seen that before.
I've been taking notes on an old Dell touchscreen laptop with Windows 11. Theres a built in writing feature with the pen and it converts to text automatically in real time (you arent writing and then converting the sample to text). it works amazing. I was hoping that is how it would work on these e-ink tablets. getting the data off isnt a huge thing for me. i dont need notes to really go anywhere off device. trying to device between the SuperNote and the Remarkable 2 I think. those two seem the best.
Hi Brandon, what software version was your Boox Note Air running? I have one and the handwriting recognition is terrible! Complete words missed. My handwriting looks pretty similar to yours. Hoping Boox messed it up in the latest update and they will fix it soon! I'm running V3.3.2 and it says is the latest version...
Which languages are supported? How do they deal with more than one language per text?

My Supernote arrived today but although the people at Supernote advised me via an email to download and install *'OpenMTP'* which should allow me top transfer files from my Mac to the Supernote it doesn't work, which maybe because I'm using a USB-A to USB-C adaptor on one end of my cable _[I've ordered a USB-c to USB-c cable]_ Seeing you are using a Mac, I wonder if you could give me a link to the app you are using, it would be appreciated. Thanks
PS... I don't want to transfer some of my files via the cloud.
On my Boox I use Google Drive to sync notes and I have it on my Mac as well. So I convert the note to text, tap on "Insert" and then on "Sync" - 100% correct on the paragraph given here written in cursive. I can then just open the note PDF on the Mac and copy from the text box. Or I could send the copied text as mail to myself as I also have GMail installed on the Note Air 3.
In boox press AI button > reflow > share button (in top bar) > share as TXT

This is super helpful. I was hoping something exists where I can create something like a Word document by writing on a tablet and that document can convert into text and then automatically be saved in Google Drive or Dropbox, but I guess that is still in the future. Or more likely the past. And then to edit Word documents using an e-ink tablet. Hahahaha. I know I'm dreaming. But seriously. Why would I want notes in my own handwriting? You would never be able share it or use it at work. It's completely non-transferrable. And a Remarkable with a stylus and a keyboard would be over $2000 when the alternative is logging into Evernote.

Why aren’t you including a Bigme inknote in the comparison, since it is very similar or better hardware than the Boox?
Mostly because I don’t have one.
The Scribe has now added OCR conversion… perhaps it is time to reevaluate….😊
I have a Remarkable 2 and a BOOX Note Air 2 Plus. I love the BOOX for handwriting conversion. The R2 was terrible at it.
Were there specific things that the reMarkable struggled with?
@@BrandonKBoswell No backlight. Terrible job on the handwriting conversion. Search function by typing in a term and searching across notes/notebooks is crucial for me. I will often have someone ask me about a case from five years ago. I’m not going to remember some tag, but they can often give me a name of an involved party. I need to be able to type in “Boswell”, for example, and find all of the notes that mention that name, regardless of which notebook in which I’ve stored those notes.
Remarkable 2 just wasn’t intuitive enough. I made my purchases in part because I wanted to test it out before the manager invested in a bunch of them, and the only one he’d tried was Remarkable 2, and I just wasn’t impressed. The BOOX is far superior, even though I’m not too familiar with an Android-based platform.
I suspect if you had included the Nebo app (iOS or Android), it would have won. (other than the Pencil on glass issue...)
I haven’t tried out Nebo on the iPad. I will give it a go. I think it uses the same handwriting recognition tech as the reMarkable.
@@BrandonKBoswell Nebo does license their handwriting tech to other apps and products, yes.
Nebo offers the best conversion hands down. It’s not even close. And it works much, much better on the iPad than it does on the Remarkable.

Why don't you use notes on the ipad. it's going to be better OCR and easier to share from there.
This is January 2024 and the demo of the kindle Scribe's conversion of handwriting to text is totally out of date . . . Just so people know . . .
I don’t understand why, in a video seeking to demonstrate functions, you’re trying to figure out how the functions work during the video. Wouldn’t it be better to learn first and then demonstrate on video? I suspect your 23 minute video could have been packaged in a more informative 15 minute video. I’m looking for the right e-ink device for me. Until then, I’ll use Nebo on my iPad. Virtually perfect handwriting recognition, and super easy to share in many ways. Yes, I still have the writing on an iPad and LCD panel problems, but zero hassle and super efficient.
