The saddest part of this concerning the great acting Elvis delivered in this film was the fact that never got to explore more dramatic serious roles instead he got drafted in the Army. If he hadn't gone to the army there's no telling how far Elvis could have taken his dramatic acting because after he filmed this Hollywood took careful consideration in terms of offering Elvis more serious dramatic roles. After he got a honorable discharge unfortunately he went back to doing the musicals.. Years later in 1976 Elvis was offered a serious dramatic role with Barbra Streisand "A Star is Born" and she asked for him specifically... but by then he was so heavily involved in prescription drugs plus the Colonel wouldn't let him however King Creole I feel is one of his crowning moments.

Some people say Elvis wasn’t meant for acting or movies, but for me considering the time that was some awfully great acting when the fight broke out. Elvis wanted to be a movie star and he was, he *knew* how to act people.

Originally meant for James Dean before his untimely death in 1955 . For someone who has only ever acted in two other pictures, "Love Me Tender" and "Loving You" respectively, this was a fantastic and compelling effort by Elvis.

One of the greatest Juvenile Delinquent movies ever & Elvis' outstanding performance . Elvis idiolisedJames Dean & it reflects in this movie . One of Elvis' best . Great supporting cast & a very Young Vic Morrow who was in later years ( the California Kid ), Walter Mathau . & Carolyn Jones , who went on to star in the TV series "The adams Family .

The man wasn't a terrible actor, it's the damn many musicals they had him do which is why people said that crap. Here in King creole he's holding his own with heavyweight actors Walter Matthau, a young Vic Morrow, and a young Carolyn Jones.

Elvis beat the crap out of Matthau. What surprised me about Elvis is for a pretty boy he showed mean tough traits. Meaning he didn't back down like a lot of people tend to do, it showed me that he probably had a bad side to him because he was convincing in those roles where he beat up people. Lol

None of his films were better than Dean's 3 and he was a big fan of dean anyway I'm sure he would agree. Pay close attention to his acting in this. He is trying to be dean in certain parts especially early on. His scene with his father over going to night school a key a key example.

@@lechat8736 i understand your feelings as im not a huge fan of Elvis. He was talented and had the makings to maybe become a solid actor but what makes deancso special is he died young and we never will know what he would have been. Dean like others were influenced by brando who isnthe father of this method actor we see then and today. Atleast he is the father from a acting stand point because he made it so famous. But dean was like Elvis influence by these people and tried to make it their own. Dean was well on his way yo that in a very big way. And people knew it. Thats why their is buzz still over his name.
Elvis should have done a star is born instead of Kris. Thats one role he could have won a Oscar for had he got it.
