The saddest part of this concerning the great acting Elvis delivered in this film was the fact that never got to explore more dramatic serious roles instead he got drafted in the Army. If he hadn't gone to the army there's no telling how far Elvis could have taken his dramatic acting because after he filmed this Hollywood took careful consideration in terms of offering Elvis more serious dramatic roles. After he got a honorable discharge unfortunately he went back to doing the musicals.. Years later in 1976 Elvis was offered a serious dramatic role with Barbra Streisand "A Star is Born" and she asked for him specifically... but by then he was so heavily involved in prescription drugs plus the Colonel wouldn't let him however King Creole I feel is one of his crowning moments.
Some people say Elvis wasn’t meant for acting or movies, but for me considering the time that was some awfully great acting when the fight broke out. Elvis wanted to be a movie star and he was, he *knew* how to act people.
Originally meant for James Dean before his untimely death in 1955 . For someone who has only ever acted in two other pictures, "Love Me Tender" and "Loving You" respectively, this was a fantastic and compelling effort by Elvis.
One of the greatest Juvenile Delinquent movies ever & Elvis' outstanding performance . Elvis idiolisedJames Dean & it reflects in this movie . One of Elvis' best . Great supporting cast & a very Young Vic Morrow who was in later years ( the California Kid ), Walter Mathau . & Carolyn Jones , who went on to star in the TV series "The adams Family .
Oh, my god this is the second best Elvis movie some people say Elvis was a terrible actor and he was a great singer but to me he really acted in this movie
The man wasn't a terrible actor, it's the damn many musicals they had him do which is why people said that crap. Here in King creole he's holding his own with heavyweight actors Walter Matthau, a young Vic Morrow, and a young Carolyn Jones.
He was a good actor....just given awful scripts and musicals to work with....they should have let him film in any film he chose instead of putting him in dumb films tied up in stupid contracts thanks to the Colonel!!!!
I’m a huge fan of elvis Presley’s I love 💕 elviss music and flims too elvis to me did such an amazing fantastic job in every flim that he did elvis was also an amazing fantastic entertainer that ever lived too my dream is to visit Graceland and I always live elvis tcb ⚡️🕺4:38pm
Movies like Jailhouse Rock and King Creole were real good dramatic films. He could have been another Marlon Brando or James Dean or at least pretty darn close. He made a lot of pretty good movies but more like those would have been real nice.
2 greats Morrow and Elvis, l think Elvis best performance too!Very sad about Vic just making it back ,he maybe needed a good agent too help him for roles?
Elvis beat the crap out of Matthau. What surprised me about Elvis is for a pretty boy he showed mean tough traits. Meaning he didn't back down like a lot of people tend to do, it showed me that he probably had a bad side to him because he was convincing in those roles where he beat up people. Lol

Remember Elvis is playing a high school student in this film with a older woman. I think this is the only movie I have seen Walter Matthau play the bad guy ?
I was just thinking if you close your eyes and listen you realize just how great the orchestra soundtrack is in this scene. Goes to show just how much quality they put into these old movies.
Movies like King Creole and Jailhouse Rock Flaming Star Wild in the Country show he had real good acting talent potential of being a real good actor like Kes Dean and Marlon Brando if he were givenore static roles to play.
I always used to watch the scene with the knife fight when I was like 5 years old in the beginning of the 90s - I think I did it in secret, in case my parents would have had a problem with it - and I thought that that scene was cool, and I was brought up properly and knew about right and wrong, so it never had a negative influence on me at all.
@@sunnybaig2961 Kid Galahad was pretty cool always loved that movie Elvis did a good job nothing like early Elvis the pre Army Elvis and early 60s Nashville was Elvis at his best thank you have a good day

Is that Donna Douglas in that movie Frankie and Johnny with him? Look - a - like. Too bad there aren't any EP look a likes. 😍 They wouldn't have the same charm, voice, and charisma though. King Creole was up there with Jailhouse Rock.
Loving you Jailhouse Rock and King Creole better than James Dean's 3 movies other great Elvis movies flaming star wild in the country Kid Galahad all better than James Dean movies early Elvis great in his movies best at playing the rebel King Creole is a classic
None of his films were better than Dean's 3 and he was a big fan of dean anyway I'm sure he would agree. Pay close attention to his acting in this. He is trying to be dean in certain parts especially early on. His scene with his father over going to night school a key a key example.
@@lechat8736 i understand your feelings as im not a huge fan of Elvis. He was talented and had the makings to maybe become a solid actor but what makes deancso special is he died young and we never will know what he would have been. His best move of the 50s
Director Michael Curtiz brought out a great performance from Elvis.

Remember Elvis is playing a high school student in this film with a older woman. I think this is the only movie I have seen Walter Matthau play the bad guy ?
Matthau played a very bad guy in Burt Lancaster's, The Kentuckian.
Matthau also played a very bad dude, an escaped murderer in "The Gangster Story" a 1959 B flick that was poorly edited but still watchable.
Matthau ALSO played the villain in CHARADE with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn!
King creole an jailhouse rock Elvis at his best
So much for Vic Morrow the punk ! Tragic accident, he never knew what happened and the little girls.
Yes, so terrible and sad. I never forget Vic Morrow or the 2 children.
Jennifer Jason Leigh's father. He was a great actor. I remember watching 'Combat' as a kid.
Loved Vic Morrow
Vic Morrow was so handsome!!!!!🥰❤💋
Actually, it was a boy and a girl that died with Vic.....not 2 girls.
the violins are great in this movie clip !

Great acting in Wild in the country!
this is probably his only good and best movie he’s ever done
Realistic fight with Vic Morrow & the other guy
I believe Vic Morrow was 4/5 years older than Elvis?
Vic was born February 14, 1929, Elvis was born on January 8, 1935. Almost 6 years difference.
Yeah ! But Elvis put some cold steel to his ass !
