My dad died by suicide too and I didn't even know that he was depressed until after he died. He was so good at hiding it. R.I.P to every suicide victim 😔💔
So true @ any are good at hiding it, but people w/ suicidal ideations in small ways do show it. Change of habits & the eyes are key give-aways, but it can be ever so small that unless someone was looking for it, we'd miss it. Cheslie eyes held a sadness when you look back now, but not knowing her didn't spot it til after the fact. Svrl videos of her people are now pointing to eyes (windows of our souls) sadness. Video w/ her & another young black girl talking mental health most are pointing to where eyes are distant. So sorry for your loss & can take some comfort in at least having 1 around, and he did the best he could at the time. I hope you're at peace despite your loss & grateful for ever knowing him.

I don’t think that’s possible here. I’ve went through the comments here and saw some truly ugly and ignorant comments. Leading me to believe that’s not what is being promoted here. A person’s followers are a reflection of them.
I used to feel like as a black nurse I had to prove myself all the time. So many micro aggressions coming from co workers, patients, other health team members and etc. It hurts the most when it comes from your own. I have learned to just be the best I can be and leave the rest to God. I love my job and others thoughts of me will not change who I am. People will always think what they want to think. We can’t control that.
sadly, it doesn't matter the career you're in because if you're black, confident, and good at what you do you are seen as a threat by insecure, messy people. I've worked in corporate as well as a school cafeteria with all white women and you. would. not. believe! the foolishness, the pettiness, the lies and the micro agressions.
Nurses catch it from all sides I’ve worked all over in health care admin & coordination from E.D, Cancer Center to home health. Black American, African, Hispanic, Philippine, Samoan are always having to prove themselves or that they belong in these white folks relm. My brother in law who’s Gambian (and an awesome dedicated Nurse) stepped down from a directors position in a hospital here in Seattle because when he made the clear people do there jobs, follow up, be accountable ect. They labeled him as hard to work with because their privilege didn’t get them a pass to not actually do their jobs and push it off on others. They tried to discipline him for that, but it looked suspicious on the 2 heifers that complained. They tried to get another black nurse to say he was difficult to work with she was fairly new they wanted her to write a statement to that fact. I guess they felt because she was new she would just go along.girlfriend said no ma’am my brother had helped her so much in her career with being new and everything and looking out for her she refused and she reported it. he has a lawsuit going on and he stepped down and went back to working in an ER and has been happy ever since. And we have other family members even me that have been blatantly discriminated against here in Seattle but they are supposed to be so liberal here(Bullshit we catch hell) My sister from Ethiopia was just laid off yesterday working with her to deal with white nurses they told her it was because of the current state of the department financially but just hired two receptionist and another nurse. How do you lay off a supervisor but not your recent hires she decided not to fight it with the union because she had a baby six months ago and she really wanted to be home with her baby for a while it’s so sad the crap we deal with in 2022 but people like to pretend racism isn’t here
I have high functioning depression and BPD. (Borderline Personality disorder) Just because she had “everything going for her” Does not make her immune to falling victim to suicide. I was often the only black educator in all white staffed schools. You have to constantly prove you are not an aide, cafeteria worker, maintenance etc (nothing wrong with those positions). Always being side eyed, treated differently in every situation. Have to be strong in Christ and overcome.

She had the real life Legally Blonde experience. Not only did she face prejudice and discrimination for being black, but ALSO for being an attractive female in a male-dominated profession. That's a lot of pressure. We will never know the full extent of other people's trauma.
She was Bi racial. Her father was 100% white and her mother African American. There are also lots of female attorneys. But with that being said, when people say male dominated profession.... most professions are male dominated. Also makes get paid more. Nursing which is my profession, isn’t male dominated but being a physician is. It’s one of the few professions that are not male dominated.. .
Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain, Kate Spade, Pastor Jarrid Wilson in California and so many others we don't know about that have taken their own lives...you never know what a person is going through in their mind and heart...we have to keep this country and world in prayer!!! JOHN 3:16.
You have to build or create that psychic barrier early and reinforce it often. I do not believe this young woman had hers established much, let alone reinforced.
I have battled depression for years and have been hospitalized a couple of times because of it. Most people who meet me would never know. I've listened to her mention several times that she is an introvert and that as a kid she was a book worm, outcast, etc. The problem was she was beautiful so people expected her to be happy. She was missing something in her life and probably would have been happier if she wasn't the center of attention, had a wonderful partner in her life and could spend her evenings cuddled up on a couch relaxing rather than having to be "on".
I don't think she had to be the center of attention if she didn't want to be. She chose to be the center of attention, including making videos and being a practicing lawyer in court. She didn't seem to have an issue with attention. I deal with depression too and I wouldn't purposely and constantly put myself in situations where I'm the center of attention bc I don't like it.
I was thinking the same thing. At 30, she should've had a spouse and that person could've helped her tremendously. Not practicing law anymore and feeling lost with her career also may have played a role. We will never know but I wish she was still with us.

I can 100% relate to everything Chelsea Kryst felt and experienced. Microaggression is prominent at every level of Corporate America. Functional depression is pressure within itself. That coupled with the Life’s daily challenges is a lot to bear. My prayers go out to all who struggle and for the family of this precious gem.
I personally don’t agree that as Black peoples we are the weakest we have ever been. Over the last couple of years I have been amazed at how our young people are standing up, and speaking out against racism. I was looking for this comment. We have to be careful calling our black culture weak just because we handle things differently than our parents etc. Yes, they were brought up to be tough, but they were also brought up to hide things under the rug. It's not that they were tougher, it's just that they were masters in covering it up. If our younger generation today is good at hiding depression, it's only because they learned from the best. Black ppl dealing with WS day in and day out is very stressful, along with everyday life can put you in a mental and spiritual breakdown. She was a beautiful, talented, and educated woman, and I wish she could have found a professional to assist her with her issues.

I feel sorry for this young lady’s family. Seems like she had a lot rolling around in her head that didn’t need to be there. My advise to young people (I am a Black senior) don’t pay attention to people some of her micro aggressions should not have been swimming around in her head. One instance where she said someone said that she is well spoken many times that has nothing to do with being Black or insulting you as a Black person that is just you are well spoken. I always tell my young nephew how articulate he is and I have either said or thought that of people of all races. The thing to always remember is people for the most part are not thinking about you that long or hard because they usually have their own set of problems they are dealing with. Just live you life and try to ignore people as much as possible.
I do agree with you. I always tell my daughter I love how she articulates herself. Or I love how you express yourself. I am Hispanic, I take it as a compliment coming from a "ghetto neighborhood". Learning how to speak proper was so important to me. Once I realized there was more to the world then just me in it.
Biracial people tend to have a lot identity issues.. they go through a lot. I never knew how how much rejection they go through from both sides.. traumatic for a child. And it’s carries on into adulthood.
I've known since I was six years old that the states is a very depressing place when I had to return here after living in the Caribbean for about 3 years. When I came back I became a different kid and was never the same again. The emotional abuse that I have endured here really did a number on me and caused me to have issues with anxiety. I do have people I trust here but for most part I stay to myself.........I don't need the drama and negativity.

Correction, her mother said that the medical examine reported that she had functional depression. From her family and friends they said that they did not see this coming. This young lady spoke too much of her future and the fact that she was doing what she loves. She was also helping and inspiring others. These are not typical traits of someone that's suicidal. I really believe that the detectives need to get on their job and thoroughly investigate this incident.
You and me both. I was thinking too much didn't add up but was counting on her friends and family to blow the whistle on the suicide explanation. How did she get to the spot? Shouldn't there be video in a hallway or elevator? Did anyone bother to look? I don't know her or her people but I feel for them. 💔
I do believe there has to be footage in that building. She was up several floors from where she lived. She got there somehow. At the height of the singer, Donny Hathaway's career, it was reported HE jumped from the 15th floor to his death. No questions asked. Case closed. He too, was black.

I am so happy that you said those things about traveling and experiencing other places. I'm from the Caribbean. We live a balanced life here. I've been traveling to the US every year since I was 16 . The US is nice but living there changes people. Our Caribbean peeps turn into something else when they move to the US. The warmth, love and endearment changes and it's because of what we call here, the "rat race"...work many jobs to pay bills, little to no family time, little to no quality time with kids etc depending on the situation. While not all situations are the same many people are subject to that stressful life in the US and it's time that the society and the corporate businesses think about people's mental health and the quality of life for employees just as a start. Alot to type on this issue but, it's a start.

I'll say this again and again! Something is fishy about this whole situation! Her note said that her mom can have everything! Wasn't her mom going to get everything anyway she didn't have any children! And are they looking into if she had a boyfriend or stalkers! And why go to the 29th fl if she lived on the 9th fl. There has to be camera's in a building like that i am pretty sure! You can't open any exit doors without alarms going off! A Black woman died on a dating site called Bumble and the police did not even take evidence! The family did and found that the woman was givin fentanyl maybe by the White guy she had a date with!

Didn't believe the "story" when I heard it. She either knew something and someone was afraid she was going to tell or someone felt the need to abruptly stop her from going through a door where she would live out her purpose for a greater cause. Suicide is not something we naturally use to get away from problems. I don't buy it, not gonna eat it! Strange they all die before they make it to 30...

Just because they are saying she jumped do not mean she did. There are a people who are getting away with killing people and saying they are killing themselves and people are just going along with the lie.
From the moment I learned about this tragedy, nothing about it made sense. I found it hard to believe she jumped to her death. My heart tells me she was pushed because she was a threat to someone or several people in the industry. Maybe someone else wanted her job. Maybe she knew too much. Only God knows.

One thing's for certain: She DID NOT fall from the 29th... More than likely from the lower terrace, not readily apparent in casual photos. Whatever happened went down on that lower terrace, out of sight of any video cameras

How exactly does an investigator know that someone jumped vs being pushed? Has anyone personally seen a video, or are just going by what someone online says? I see no way someone could tell the difference, unless the person was being dragged to the roof and was fighting and screaming on video. If you and I are goofing around on a balcony, roof, whatever and I just pushed you off as we were both peeping over and saying ohhh the people look like ants down there, how does one come up with they committed suicide? I just don’t get it. I don’t think they could know that and I think they just say that to close the case. What if the person was up there getting high and fell?
I dealt with functional depression after my mom died. It was rough. I realized ppl really function like that. It was like a coating of sadness on me so heavy I had never felt like that. I finally came through it lifted a year later

I think about how on bad days I felt like ending it all…and then going on to the next day realizing how i felt much better. The thought of taking my life and not getting that opportunity for a better day saves me every time. It gets better y’all hang in there. I’m sorry and my heart hurts for her family.

The author of this video make reckless comments such as "we as a people have become weak". This is the primary reason for the stigma of getting help for a severe mental disorder(e.g. bipolar, schizophrenia) is avoided in the black community. People who have not researched the subject make comments that "lump" ALL forms of mental illness as a problem that can be resolved by not "focusing" on emotional/negative thoughts. SMH

I’m so sorry she had to deal with this trash and having to quickly formulate the best reaction. Most of them don’t even seem very “micro.” Throughout my life I’ve dealt with microaggressions (not racial and not comparable, but relative to me as an individual) due to aspects of my life that carry lots of stigma, assumptions and ignorance with them (teenage mom, Aspergers, HIV and more..) This can sometime lead to or add to depression. you can feel there is no avoiding or escaping ignorance and you get so exhausted by having to constantly teach and preach as you feel it’s your responsibility. Depression is a medical illness but can be affected by situational issues that seem Relentless, constant and unavoidable. Some people feel they have been born in the wrong time and cannot buy into how things are; that simply existing is co-signing on just “how it is.” This country is sooo polarized. People are expected to take sides and stick to them💔Makes many people want to isolate. I so agree with what you said about traveling and going elsewhere. People’d be surprised how just a day or two somewhere else will show you a different experience then at home. Can give you some hope in human nature .I pray for her mom, family, loved ones and friends. 🙏💔
The fact that she accomplished so much but chose to be alone said a lot about how she kept others away from her life. I do the same because people can be annoying. I have not seen this video anywhere, thanks for uploading. I worked with a short female doctor and other male doctors always asked if she was a nurse to give reports to.

This woman had success most can only dream about. As a sufferer from depression, I know that achievements can seem like nothing in that state of mind. For sure, she pushed herself very, very hard and equated her worth with what she achieved. God rest her dear soul.
Great video, we will never know but I think several things 1) feeling the need to be on social media and not being able to take a break, take a leave of absence at her job. Social media can make the best feel insecure . I wish she had taken a leave of absence, went to Africa, South America or right her in the USA and worked with others in social services, orphanage or something, she had something to offer the world. She would have seen, I am so blessed.... This was a true tragedy.
If your ancestors survived the slave ship and centuries later a part of them is still standing in your DNA, that's some genetic resilience against suicidal tendencies. I see this woman thriving well enough to want to help others. The suicide is suspect. The family needs to keep gathering evidence.
I had a white guy sexually harass me and countless other black women, they covered it up. I had found out he liked to target black women because the higher likelihood of fathers not being in the home. The micro aggressions do happen to BW all the time. It really impacts our health when people ignore our basic safety needs.
My prayers and condolences to any family who has lost a loved one to suicide in 2022. Depression when severe or major can make you have suicidal thoughts and overwhelming urges to end your life from the time you wake up until you go to sleep. This can last for days even months. The depressed person can begin to believe that the only way to find peace is to end their own life. It can take God, professional therapy, medication and/or even hospitalization to get a person back to health. It can take ongoing maintenance and self care, but people can survive and later thrive. It is ok to ask someone, is something bothering you today? or is something hurting you today? Most hospital ERs will admit or transfer a person with suicidal ideation for a psych eval which leads to life saving help.

RIP Chelsie. Yes, I do understand all about billable hours and it is a drag but necessary evil. There is alternate billing, but sometimes other matters take up so much time thanks to clients that regular billing becomes essential. Additionally, I can relate to the deposition story. In a suit and tie, with a brief case appearing before the judge on behalf of a client, he asked me if I am a lawyer. Yup! That was strange.
It seems so suspicious to me. Even if you are depressed jumping off a balcony takes a while to hit the ground. I think a thorough investigation to make sure no one else was there is needed.
She was burnt out and had nobody around that could relate to her.. Furthermore, sometimes we can be victim of our own ambitions and achievements. Finally I believe her being mixed race factored in as well...
I was a pageant queen within the same organization. (I will not disclose my title & yes I’m a brown woman). I’ve recently learned to respond to micro aggressions with straightforwardness. I also did modeling prior to pageantry and law enforcement afterward. Everyone’s journey within certain professions are different. Most of my micro aggressive experiences with modeling surprisingly came from friends and family, not strangers. On the other hand most of my micro aggressions with law enforcement came from my colleagues who had a problem with me when I indirectly addressed it. Now, I dare any person to try it with me in person, I’m clapping back. I’m one year older than Cheslie, so I can relate to the space she was in with the way she chose to respond for the sake of choosing peace. Something happened with me over the last year where I’m no longer choosing to respond like a little angel…if you try me you’ll get what you ask for. I put that on my crown, sash and Jesus. Though I think Cheslie responded to negativity in a way that was necessary for HER, her story just gave me more motivation to stop responding so politely and call out ignorance right on the spot. Yeah The moment I heard that she jumped I knew it was some BS. I immediately looked at her Tik Tok to read her and I didn't see it. I feel depressed at times being born in this country. We don't know our history so therefore we are ignorant to who we are and where we truly came from. I feel somebody pushed her off of that building. She seemed like a person that would fight for black folk until she took her last breath. I just don't see her encouraging us and then counteracting it with killing herself. Who would want to jump off of a building to die that way? Something just doesn't sound right.
Cheslie was well educated, so she understood society, something doesn’t sound right regarding her alleged suicide. If she lived on the 9th floor why was she on the 29th floor? In all of the videos I’ve seen… she is elegant, happy, upbeat and able to articulate very well….is that the sign of a depressed women? They said her calendar was full for the week…does a suicidal woman schedule events or does she disconnect from others? Maybe I just don’t understand her illness! Please educate me!
Shelia-I agree. I may get some folks who are shaking their heads when I say this, but I think there was foul play involved and that it was not a suicide. Was she pushed? Who was she with on the 29th floor? She had an opinion and was open about the things she went through. Not the typical pageant queen. I'm black, and most of us in corporate America have experienced micro-aggressions, jealousy, and questions about our credentials. She spoke about it, and people felt uncomfortable, I imagine.
The fact that society can’t accept that Black women can be sad and depressed too! Just because someone is educated, successful doesn’t equate their happiness. Mental health for black individuals has been so stigmatized to the point that a black woman committing suicide is unbelievable as were expected to be strong 24/7. Sad.
@@patriciab844 -- I'm not sure why there's this resistance to accepting that she suffered from depression and hid it. Did anyone know that Robin Williams had suffered from depression before his death? She lived in a very expensive area and in an expensive building, don't you think that if she was on the 29th floor with someone there would be camera footage to show that? Suicide is an impulsive decision and most survivors say that they regretted it right after they made the decision to act on their desire to die. Something may have happened to her that Friday or Saturday evening to cause her to make that decision, but if her family accepted the findings of the police investigation then that's all there is to it.

So true @ any are good at hiding it, but people w/ suicidal ideations in small ways do show it. Change of habits & the eyes are key give-aways, but it can be ever so small that unless someone was looking for it, we'd miss it. Cheslie eyes held a sadness when you look back now, but not knowing her didn't spot it til after the fact. Svrl videos of her people are now pointing to eyes (windows of our souls) sadness. Video w/ her & another young black girl talking mental health most are pointing to where eyes are distant. So sorry for your loss & can take some comfort in at least having 1 around, and he did the best he could at the time. I hope you're at peace despite your loss & grateful for ever knowing him.

I used to feel like as a black nurse I had to prove myself all the time. So many micro aggressions coming from co workers, patients, other health team members and etc. It hurts the most when it comes from your own. I have learned to just be the best I can be and leave the rest to God. I love my job and others thoughts of me will not change who I am. People will always think what they want to think. We can’t control that.

Nurses catch it from all sides I’ve worked all over in health care admin & coordination from E.D, Cancer Center to home health. Black American, African, Hispanic, Philippine, Samoan are always having to prove themselves or that they belong in these white folks relm. My brother in law who’s Gambian (and an awesome dedicated Nurse) stepped down from a directors position in a hospital here in Seattle because when he made the clear people do there jobs, follow up, be accountable ect. They labeled him as hard to work with because their privilege didn’t get them a pass to not actually do their jobs and push it off on others. They tried to discipline him for that, but it looked suspicious on the 2 heifers that complained. They tried to get another black nurse to say he was difficult to work with she was fairly new they wanted her to write a statement to that fact. I guess they felt because she was new she would just go along.girlfriend said no ma’am my brother had helped her so much in her career with being new and everything and looking out for her she refused and she reported it. he has a lawsuit going on and he stepped down and went back to working in an ER and has been happy ever since. And we have other family members even me that have been blatantly discriminated against here in Seattle but they are supposed to be so liberal here(Bullshit we catch hell) My sister from Ethiopia was just laid off yesterday working with her to deal with white nurses they told her it was because of the current state of the department financially but just hired two receptionist and another nurse. How do you lay off a supervisor but not your recent hires she decided not to fight it with the union because she had a baby six months ago and she really wanted to be home with her baby for a while it’s so sad the crap we deal with in 2022 but people like to pretend racism isn’t here

I was often the only black educator in all white staffed schools. You have to constantly prove you are not an aide, cafeteria worker, maintenance etc (nothing wrong with those positions). Always being side eyed, treated differently in every situation. Have to be strong in Christ and overcome.

But with that being said, when people say male dominated profession.... most professions are male dominated. Also makes get paid more. I have battled depression for years and have been hospitalized a couple of times because of it. Most people who meet me would never know. I've listened to her mention several times that she is an introvert and that as a kid she was a book worm, outcast, etc. The problem was she was beautiful so people expected her to be happy. She was missing something in her life and probably would have been happier if she wasn't the center of attention, had a wonderful partner in her life and could spend her evenings cuddled up on a couch relaxing rather than having to be "on".
I don't think she had to be the center of attention if she didn't want to be. She chose to be the center of attention, including making videos and being a practicing lawyer in court. She didn't seem to have an issue with attention. I deal with depression too and I wouldn't purposely and constantly put myself in situations where I'm the center of attention bc I don't like it.
I was thinking the same thing. At 30, she should've had a spouse and that person could've helped her tremendously. Not practicing law anymore and feeling lost with her career also may have played a role. We will never know but I wish she was still with us.

I can 100% relate to everything Chelsea Kryst felt and experienced. Microaggression is prominent at every level of Corporate America. Functional depression is pressure within itself. That coupled with the Life’s daily challenges is a lot to bear. My prayers go out to all who struggle and for the family of this precious gem.
I personally don’t agree that as Black peoples we are the weakest we have ever been. Over the last couple of years I have been amazed at how our young people are standing up, and speaking out against racism. We have to be careful calling our black culture weak just because we handle things differently than our parents etc. Yes, they were brought up to be tough, but they were also brought up to hide things under the rug. It's not that they were tougher, it's just that they were masters in covering it up. If our younger generation today is good at hiding depression, it's only because they learned from the best.

I feel sorry for this young lady’s family. Seems like she had a lot rolling around in her head that didn’t need to be there. My advise to young people (I am a Black senior) don’t pay attention to people some of her micro aggressions should not have been swimming around in her head. One instance where she said someone said that she is well spoken many times that has nothing to do with being Black or insulting you as a Black person that is just you are well spoken. I always tell my young nephew how articulate he is and I have either said or thought that of people of all races. The thing to always remember is people for the most part are not thinking about you that long or hard because they usually have their own set of problems they are dealing with. Just live you life and try to ignore people as much as possible.

Biracial people tend to have a lot identity issues.. they go through a lot. I never knew how how much rejection they go through from both sides.. traumatic for a child. And it’s carries on into adulthood.
I've known since I was six years old that the states is a very depressing place when I had to return here after living in the Caribbean for about 3 years. When I came back I became a different kid and was never the same again. The emotional abuse that I have endured here really did a number on me and caused me to have issues with anxiety. I do have people I trust here but for most part I stay to myself.........I don't need the drama and negativity.

I spoke to my Dad about this and I told him, "It seemed like her life changed more than she expected when she became Miss USA." The pressures to seem "perfect".
Correction, her mother said that the medical examine reported that she had functional depression. From her family and friends they said that they did not see this coming.
This young lady spoke too much of her future and the fact that she was doing what she loves. She was also helping and inspiring others. These are not typical traits of someone that's suicidal. I really believe that the detectives need to get on their job and thoroughly investigate this incident.

I do believe there has to be footage in that building. She was up several floors from where she lived. She got there somehow. At the height of the singer, Donny Hathaway's career, it was reported HE jumped from the 15th floor to his death. No questions asked. Case closed. He too, was black.

As a people we need to not to care what anyone thinks, trust me that resolves a lot of stress and be comfortable in our own skin.

I am so happy that you said those things about traveling and experiencing other places. I'm from the Caribbean. We live a balanced life here. I've been traveling to the US every year since I was 16 . The US is nice but living there changes people. Our Caribbean peeps turn into something else when they move to the US. The warmth, love and endearment changes and it's because of what we call here, the "rat race"...work many jobs to pay bills, little to no family time, little to no quality time with kids etc depending on the situation. While not all situations are the same many people are subject to that stressful life in the US and it's time that the society and the corporate businesses think about people's mental health and the quality of life for employees just as a start. Alot to type on this issue but, it's a start.

I'll say this again and again! Something is fishy about this whole situation! Her note said that her mom can have everything! Wasn't her mom going to get everything anyway she didn't have any children! And are they looking into if she had a boyfriend or stalkers! And why go to the 29th fl if she lived on the 9th fl. There has to be camera's in a building like that i am pretty sure! You can't open any exit doors without alarms going off! A Black woman died on a dating site called Bumble and the police did not even take evidence! The family did and found that the woman was givin fentanyl maybe by the White guy she had a date with!
Yeah... Unless this case is still open, pretty sloppy detective work by the NYPD and too easy acceptance of suic!de by the family. Plus, lots of evidence based on my own analysis points to her falling off the lower stories and not up on the 29th. Including the total absence of any video...

She either knew something and someone was afraid she was going to tell or someone felt the need to abruptly stop her from going through a door where she would live out her purpose for a greater cause. Suicide is not something we naturally use to get away from problems. I don't buy it, not gonna eat it! Strange they all die before they make it to 30...

From the moment I learned about this tragedy, nothing about it made sense. I found it hard to believe she jumped to her death. My heart tells me she was pushed because she was a threat to someone or several people in the industry. Maybe someone else wanted her job. Maybe she knew too much. Only God knows.

They are tons of cameras in that building and officials viewed the footage thoroughly and confirmed that it was death by suicide.

One thing's for certain: She DID NOT fall from the 29th... More than likely from the lower terrace, not readily apparent in casual photos. Whatever happened went down on that lower terrace, out of sight of any video cameras

How exactly does an investigator know that someone jumped vs being pushed? Has anyone personally seen a video, or are just going by what someone online says? I see no way someone could tell the difference, unless the person was being dragged to the roof and was fighting and screaming on video. If you and I are goofing around on a balcony, roof, whatever and I just pushed you off as we were both peeping over and saying ohhh the people look like ants down there, how does one come up with they committed suicide? I just don’t get it. I don’t think they could know that and I think they just say that to close the case. What if the person was up there getting high and fell?

I dealt with functional depression after my mom died. It was rough. I realized ppl really function like that. It was like a coating of sadness on me so heavy I had never felt like that. I finally came through it lifted a year later

The author of this video make reckless comments such as "we as a people have become weak". This is the primary reason for the stigma of getting help for a severe mental disorder(e.g. bipolar, schizophrenia) is avoided in the black community. People who have not researched the subject make comments that "lump" ALL forms of mental illness as a problem that can be resolved by not "focusing" on emotional/negative thoughts. SMH

RIP. 💔Thank you so much. As a white woman with a diverse family it continues to cut so deep to hear of these experiences of racial microaggressions. I’m so sorry she had to deal with this trash and having to quickly formulate the best reaction. Most of them don’t even seem very “micro.” Throughout my life I’ve dealt with microaggressions (not racial and not comparable, but relative to me as an individual) due to aspects of my life that carry lots of stigma, assumptions and ignorance with them (teenage mom, Aspergers, HIV and more..) This can sometime lead to or add to depression. you can feel there is no avoiding or escaping ignorance and you get so exhausted by having to constantly teach and preach as you feel it’s your responsibility. Depression is a medical illness but can be affected by situational issues that seem Relentless, constant and unavoidable. Some people feel they have been born in the wrong time and cannot buy into how things are; that simply existing is co-signing on just “how it is.” This country is sooo polarized. People are expected to take sides and stick to them💔Makes many people want to isolate. I so agree with what you said about traveling and going elsewhere. People’d be surprised how just a day or two somewhere else will show you a different experience then at home. Can give you some hope in human nature .I pray for her mom, family, loved ones and friends. 🙏💔

This woman had success most can only dream about. As a sufferer from depression, I know that achievements can seem like nothing in that state of mind. For sure, she pushed herself very, very hard and equated her worth with what she achieved. God rest her dear soul.
Great video, we will never know but I think several things 1) feeling the need to be on social media and not being able to take a break, take a leave of absence at her job. Social media can make the best feel insecure . I wish she had taken a leave of absence, went to Africa, South America or right her in the USA and worked with others in social services, orphanage or something, she had something to offer the world. She would have seen, I am so blessed.... This was a true tragedy.

If your ancestors survived the slave ship and centuries later a part of them is still standing in your DNA, that's some genetic resilience against suicidal tendencies. I see this woman thriving well enough to want to help others. The suicide is suspect. The family needs to keep gathering evidence.

I had found out he liked to target black women because the higher likelihood of fathers not being in the home. The micro aggressions do happen to BW all the time. My prayers and condolences to any family who has lost a loved one to suicide in 2022. Depression when severe or major can make you have suicidal thoughts and overwhelming urges to end your life from the time you wake up until you go to sleep. This can last for days even months. The depressed person can begin to believe that the only way to find peace is to end their own life. It can take God, professional therapy, medication and/or even hospitalization to get a person back to health. It can take ongoing maintenance and self care, but people can survive and later thrive. It is ok to ask someone, is something bothering you today? or is something hurting you today? Most hospital ERs will admit or transfer a person with suicidal ideation for a psych eval which leads to life saving help.
You are right on target. Thank you for your highly informed response about severe mental illness symptoms(e.g. suicidal thoughts)and the need for emergent treatment.
RIP Chelsie. Yes, I do understand all about billable hours and it is a drag but necessary evil. There is alternate billing, but sometimes other matters take up so much time thanks to clients that regular billing becomes essential. Additionally, I can relate to the deposition story. In a suit and tie, with a brief case appearing before the judge on behalf of a client, he asked me if I am a lawyer. Yup! That was strange.

I was a pageant queen within the same organization. (I will not disclose my title & yes I’m a brown woman). I’ve recently learned to respond to micro aggressions with straightforwardness. I also did modeling prior to pageantry and law enforcement afterward. Everyone’s journey within certain professions are different. Most of my micro aggressive experiences with modeling surprisingly came from friends and family, not strangers. On the other hand most of my micro aggressions with law enforcement came from my colleagues who had a problem with me when I indirectly addressed it. Now, I dare any person to try it with me in person, I’m clapping back. I’m one year older than Cheslie, so I can relate to the space she was in with the way she chose to respond for the sake of choosing peace. Something happened with me over the last year where I’m no longer choosing to respond like a little angel…if you try me you’ll get what you ask for. I put that on my crown, sash and Jesus. Though I think Cheslie responded to negativity in a way that was necessary for HER, her story just gave me more motivation to stop responding so politely and call out ignorance right on the spot. Game Over. There are too many little girls who look up to us…time is limited. This is not me being a feminist or womanist, it’s me being a FED UPist. Rip sweet angel Cheslie! 🕊✊🏽🤎.

Yeah The moment I heard that she jumped I knew it was some BS. I immediately looked at her Tik Tok to read her and I didn't see it. I feel depressed at times being born in this country. We don't know our history so therefore we are ignorant to who we are and where we truly came from. I feel somebody pushed her off of that building. She seemed like a person that would fight for black folk until she took her last breath. I just don't see her encouraging us and then counteracting it with killing herself. Who would want to jump off of a building to die that way? Something just doesn't sound right.

Cheslie was well educated, so she understood society, something doesn’t sound right regarding her alleged suicide. If she lived on the 9th floor why was she on the 29th floor? In all of the videos I’ve seen… she is elegant, happy, upbeat and able to articulate very well….is that the sign of a depressed women? They said her calendar was full for the week…does a suicidal woman schedule events or does she disconnect from others? Maybe I just don’t understand her illness! Please educate me!
Shelia-I agree. I may get some folks who are shaking their heads when I say this, but I think there was foul play involved and that it was not a suicide. Was she pushed? Who was she with on the 29th floor? She had an opinion and was open about the things she went through. Not the typical pageant queen. I'm black, and most of us in corporate America have experienced micro-aggressions, jealousy, and questions about our credentials. She spoke about it, and people felt uncomfortable, I imagine.
The building she lived in had one "open" mezzanine(balcony) and it was on the 29th floor.

The fact that society can’t accept that Black women can be sad and depressed too! Just because someone is educated, successful doesn’t equate their happiness. Mental health for black individuals has been so stigmatized to the point that a black woman committing suicide is unbelievable as were expected to be strong 24/7. Sad.
@@patriciab844 -- I'm not sure why there's this resistance to accepting that she suffered from depression and hid it. Did anyone know that Robin Williams had suffered from depression before his death? She lived in a very expensive area and in an expensive building, don't you think that if she was on the 29th floor with someone there would be camera footage to show that? Suicide is an impulsive decision and most survivors say that they regretted it right after they made the decision to act on their desire to die. Something may have happened to her that Friday or Saturday evening to cause her to make that decision, but if her family accepted the findings of the police investigation then that's all there is to it.
