Band BIO:
The band formed in July 2013. Singer/guitarist Miku Kobato, formerly an employee of a Japanese maid café, envisioned forming a band that juxtaposed the maid image with rock music. Kobato recruited lead guitarist Kanami Tōno after an Internet search. Tōno had performed as a singer-songwriter and suggested her occasional backing drummer Akane Hirose for the new band. Hirose in turn suggested bassist Misa, with whom she had attended music school. On July 24, 2013 they had their first live performance at the PP Audition held at Osaka Deep, as a quartet with Kobato on vocals. The band then decided to recruit an additional lead singer and selected Saiki Atsumi during auditions. Their first performance as a five-piece was at the P Festival at Shibuya-AX on August 22, 2013.
FUN FACTS about band::
- Misa loves to drink. She loves it so much she even carries her own hip flask that she uses to drink during concerts
- Kanami has quite the girl crush on Saiki, even going so far as having her as her screensaver on her phone
- One of Band-Maid's dreams is to have their music used in anime, and if it was to be used in an anime, Miku would want the anime to be Bleach, Kanami wants Tokyo Ghoul and Saiki would want it to be Detective Conan.

Progressive Hard Rock with amazing twin vocals layers on top and catchy as hell!! . Well, call it simply Band Maid sound. They are in their own league.
True true, we agree 🤘
This makes this song completely different! Great as a instrumental! I love watching Misa go from slap to pick, then back seamlessly!
Hell yes, totally agree!
They're just talent surrounded by talent!
Indeed. They are the very essence of Talent
MISAのスラップとピック弾きの切り替えは芸術の域に達していると思います。
Indeed.
MISA could be a great magician.
MISAの弾き方はまるで一流の手品を見せられているようですね。以前、映像付きで解説しているのを見ましたが、種がわかっていても、只々凄いとしか言いようがありません🍺🍺🎸🍺🍺
In the live stream, I loved watching Kanami do that little dance in a circle with her arms out. She did the same thing when they left the stage at the end. One of the reasons that I love them is they are having so much fun making music together.
They are allowed to be who they are both musically and as people.
Ah Kanami 😍
@@philipcable7518 Also they allow themselves to be who ... Not putting up a front about how 'cool' or 'badass' they are.
That part you like is a chromatic progression that rises in pitch, which creates a growing sense of a "build up" emotionally. You probably knew that of course, but...uh... yeah.
Yeah...........hahaha
Kanami always writes the music and melody first. Miku interprets the music and creates the lyrics to fit her interpretation. (This seems unusual to me). Kanami rarely gives Miku any direction on what to write, but on this song she did. Kanami's theme was that "music is freedom" for this song.
Similar to how Tool write their songs - the guitarist, bassist & drummer come up with the music. once thats done then the vocalist Maynard writes the lyrics and the melody for the vocals. Band-Maid & Tool - my favorite two bands atm!
That's pretty dope
I mean this with the greatest respect.
Good luck covering this track guys.
You're good. We're definitely going to need it haha
BAND MAID is great as a team. Every member has a shining moment, and everyone matches the timing and rhythm. Everyone quickly changes the song from dynamic to static and static to dynamic. They are just hard rock and progressive. They are still evolving and their latest songs are always their best songs. They are showing off their ability in live.
So true. Well said 👌
I love both versions of this song equally. I'd say it's the same with the others as well. Giovanni is the only one that I definitely prefer as an instrumental.
So true - Giovanni sounds like a totally different song as an instrumental, and it is SO good. I love their bonus instrumentals on the blu rays.
*chefs kiss
Same, totally feel the same way.
whoh-oh-oh-oh whoh-oh-oh-oh
I think one of the factors that makes BM stand out to me it the role of the bass. When this band started out Miku wasn't much of a guitar player, and MISA ended up filling the other side of the "back and forth" that generally happens between lead and rhythm (I'm not talking about back and forth with melody, I'm talking back and forth as far as "filling in" the guitar sound). In most groups the bass has a different role, being the "backbone," that touchstone that the other pieces hang on to, a vital but not necessarily dominate role. Look at some of the other bands you have covered, like Lovebites and NEMOPHILA. Both have exceptional bassists, but they don't come to the forefront, they aren't spotlighted in the same way that MISA is; but if you were to listen to the songs of those bands without the bass, the songs would sound gutted, without a core or foundation, despite the pyrotechnics of the other pieces (and that's not to say that the bassists for those bands COULDN'T take that front stage role for their bands, they're certainly capable, but the songs and songwriting, the structure of the bands themselves, require a more traditional role of the bass). The songs of BM, out of necessity, had to make the bass take a prominent role; and so almost from the band's inception, BM's structure more closely resembled that of RHCP and the dominate role of the bass in that band as compared to most others. While Miku has gotten much better, and her rhythm guitar has risen to match the musical capabilities of her bandmates, MISA's playing and role hasn't diminished; it's a true 5 piece now, but MORE than a traditional 5 piece as well, with both guitars AND bass all 3 now contributing to the "guitar role."
MISA is clearly a student of jazz, and this influence gives the whole band a nuance with elements of a jazz session.
@@tttxttt_5790 yes. Akane's style is very jazz like too. Both have impeccable timing and flare.
Yup to all that. And while Miku has gotten much better, she still has to sing a lot; she is never going to be fully playing. So MISA still keeps her very wide lane.
Great points. In their writing process, MISA pretty much has carte blanche to write her own lines, which is unusual to say the least. It's a huge differentiator for them.
Akane has said her drumming is all about following and supporting Saiki's vocals and melody. Band-Maid will write and perform a James Bond score one day... along with many other films... and off stage projects.
Oh dope! Imagine, that would be sick
I'm not a musician but it seems Kanami uses Saiki as a sixth instrument at times. She sings the rythm at times driving the song as much as the rythm section. Every song has a wholeness to it even the solos don't stick out as added on. To a non musician there is just something right about Bandmaid songs.
@@bartyslattfast Mincho said when she composes, she is always thinking about Saiki's singing, so I think your guess is correct👍😁 (P_O)🕊❣
@@bartyslattfast You can say that again!
Some of their stuff is used in anime.
My God how the Songwriting changes at the 2 nd half and calms the mood down, That is genius Songwriting
Thumbs up in both hands for you guys to do almost 4 hrs live stream this phenomenal album
Yay! 😁👍
@@dicodec someone almost needed coffee through the veins.
いつも楽しく見てるよ❗️
thank you!
Thank you for watching!
About the guitar backing up the vocal melody, something I think kanami is amazing at when it comes to writing is making her guitar "sing". In a lot of songs she plays riffs identical to the vocal melody, and even in a lot of solos she carries that melody into them. I think alone is one of my favorite songs where kanamis guitar "talks" the whole way through, if that makes sense
Thank Santana, Kanami's emotional guitar work reminds me of her inspirations work.
@@bartyslattfast except Santana says his guitar cusses..... 😉
@@armynurseboy lol 😆
I feel you on this 🤘
I think in places it had a James Bond feel. If James Bond did metal.
I didn't even think about this but I definitely feel that xD
Just as I thought.
Interesting 🤔
a perfect song 10/10

That comment at the end isnthe same reason why we love Rush and tend to compare Band-Maid with them.

I wouldn't have put the two together.

Imagine hearing this live!!!!
That riff is a recurring theme in the early James Bond 007 themes. At least that's were I remember it from.
Oh dope!
I hear it too.
Definitely thought of bond when I heard that riff.
I wasnt a Huge Fan of the Song before but now that i see it performed. I love it and my God Akane s drumming,
Sometimes it just takes another listen or hearing a song in a different way that will get you hooked haha

The Entire New Album Still needs to grow on me i mean Manners After Life and Warning ! are amazing, But the other Songs they are soo diffrent. Maybe i need more listens.
no surprise everyone loves their instrumentals, cause their composition is very creative and every part sounds different.
True true
Hi guys, I'm already waiting for the cover of No God, peace out.
We've got at least two more before that so be on the lookout out.
Thanks for share this DIAMOND
Oh man, it was our pleasure. We got to hear some epic music.
The most beautiful and amazing band on the planet just keeps getting more beautiful and more amazing!!!!!!
Indeed 🤘
Despite of the song's title, it is a godlike show of talent!...Hope you guys go for LOVEBITES again, specially "Rising" (Live 2020) and the twin guitar solo played flawlessly by Miyako and Midori after an impressive Miyako's piano solo...
No God just Goddesses haha. Oh man, there is so many awesome bands we gotta react to again. Hopefully we can get back to some LoveBites soon 🤘
@@dicodec Their new songs No Time To Hesitate, Paranoia and Dystopia Symphony (only audio tracks available so far) are off the Motherfunkin' chain! 🔥🤘💜🐺
今、世界で最高のバンドプレイヤー、天才、みんちょ、みさ、あかね、、さいき、みく、、!!!
Yep there good there is no denying that i do like it when Band Maid and other bands, Nemophila another one that put out instrumental tracks of there songs when you play your self you can see how frikin good most of these lot are coming from japan about time you did Oiran just got to get it in lol.
A lot of talented Jrock groups.
2:58 my 1st instinct came to my mind wheni 1st heard the song is '" Green Hornet " .... just something flash thru my mind.
Hhmm 🤔
I have tried in vain to describe Misa as a jazz bassist locked into a hard rock mode, usually falling on deaf ears. Thanks for validating my thoughts! 🙂
This song is definitely proof of that. Sorry if this went completely over our heads. Our bad.
@@dicodec It also validates her "assassin" nickname, in that you never see it coming...which, when you think about it, is an accurate summation of the entire band. Assumptions are quickly and violently turned on their head the moment the music kicks off. 🙃🥰
Is there any particular reason that some of the cut clips are on your live channel while others (like this one) is on your main channel?
Thanks for putting them up!
I think he put the ones we've already reacted to off the record before the streams on there. All the new ones we did for the first time on stream will be here. That is just my guess. I'm not entirely sure.
Next level in all ways;BM is the magic 3 Cs ,Courage (fearlessness), commitment(work ethics), camaraderie(mutual love and respect)what all great bands have had.
Слушала песню с интересом. Спасибо за реакцию.
Not sure if I read correctly somewhere, but with these instrumentals if you have the bluray you get to select which band member you can watch 🤷🏻♂️
Really? 😯
Correct. You can switch on the go as well. For the DVD there are different tracks for each lady but you can’t switch on the go.
@@weilima9316 sounds great, I wish the bluray was on sale here in Australia, but sadly they’re not stocked
Do you know the best site to order from ?
This is right out of the fusion era, but harder. No normal rock band could pull this off.
So true 🤘
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Cant wait for your Cover its gone be Awesome. And respect for learning this Song this is another League then Thrill. But i bellieve You can do it.
Thanks man we will do our best to make it sound good! 🤘
Personally, I think this sounds SOOOO much better without the vocals, no dis to Miku. She has a fine voice, but fusion metal of this ilk must be appreciated for composition and musicianship. Now don't everyone jump down my throat, but Liquid Tension Experiment does this sort of thing so much better. After laying down an awesome track like this, I would be very surprised to hear that Band-maid weren't LTE fans themselves. But having said that, credit where credit is due. This track is quite outstanding.
I feel you man, this one along with the other instrumental songs were better as instrumentals for sure. We gotta check out some Liquid Tension 🤔
Yesss, than we can expect another cover ? I assume lol
Perhaps haha
Holy Shit that might be THE Misa Bass Solo of all Misa Bass Solo s
MISA is a chain-smirker, Po! 🤣💜

@@dicodec she kicked ass in this one. I liked your analysis of this song 🙂🤙🏼
@@GaryHolloway-810 always forward thinking 🍻🍻🍻🍻
I think the riff you're talking about sounds like Megadeth
Hhhmmm could be 🤔
As always Kanami writes the basic music, sending it to Akane and MISA (internet). They create their bass and drum lines, which stay pretty much the same through the process. Kanami works with Miku for the rhythm guitar lines. Miku (and now with Saiki) writes the lyrics after the music is complete. All of this is from a number of interviews by them as a group and individually. It's finished in the studio with Saiki having the "We're Done" call.
Question: Have you guys checked out Saki's (Mary's Blood, Nemophila), Miyako's (Lovebites) and Miku's (Band Maid) signature guitar videos? They're awesome for tech nerd's like me, how about you guys??
This is one of your best reactions!
Figured it was something like that haha. Oh man, that would be sick for a stream. We'll look into it for sure.
@@dicodec BONUS: A video I can't find, Kanami with Miku talking about new release. Kanami said that on the new release that was her on rhythm, because Miku couldn't play it. So Kanami wrote a song that Miku could play, that would prepare Miku to play the other one live.
@@outwest1014 That was the song Different, & the instrumental Don't Be Long. Kanami wrote Don't be Long to prepare Miku for the chord changes & tempo of Different live.
I knew frank.. The MIB agent..

If you do end up covering this song, I want to see you wearing maid costumes in the video.
