I wrote a letter to Colbert when I was in 7th grade after I lost my father. He wrote me back and it helped a lot. Watching his show has a source of comfort for me then and my mother ended up calling me lil colbert. I will always be thankful to this man.
I think Colbert shows something so IMPORTANT in this interview, and thats that tragedy does change you're outlook and it can sometimes change your outlook in a good way, whilst the pain may NEVER go, the perspective it gives you on what is TRULY important can be immense. Colbert has made many people aware of serious societal problems that many people hadn't given much thought to, in my opinion anyone who can do that deserves HUGE RESPECT.
My biggest regret is not working as hard as Colbert did. I love this guy and he gets to live his dream every night in front of an audience who respects and admires him, and I believe he earned every bit of it. I just know I could be hosting a successful show today if I had applied myself and striven for more direction in my early years.
To those of you who make the chandelier sparkle and shine, and do the maintenance work and the janitorial work, thank you. You're just as important as Stephen is. I know that he's grateful, too. 💖☺️
WHO ELSE COULD DO THIS JOB, and fill those GIANT SHOES. Colbert you are the best choice for this job. BUT PLEASE don't forget to show the TRUTH about that news network...You know the one??!!!
I think he's still the same, maybe he dialed down a little bit the character, but from what I've seen so far, he's mostly the same Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report.
I don't hate him, but just not a fan of the political based humor. It's like race-based humor, not funny imo. I like it when he played a fox news host.
Colbert replacing Letterman was the biggest mistake of the century, what were they thinking? He's the biggest insult to The Late Show ever, I watched about 5 minutes of the 1st show and have never watched it again.
It’s one persons opinion, I certainly welcome it. I just don’t necessarily agree. Colbert had humongous shoes to fill. I think he’s doing pretty well. It took a while for him to figure out what to do with it, but he’s doing a pretty good job in my humble opinion.
His right ear required surgery because of, I believe, a severely perforated eardrum. During the surgery the ear is cut OFF from the back and folded over. As a result of the right ear having to be sewn back on, it has a different appearance from his left ear and he is deaf in that ear.
He is Roman Catholic, but he is openly liberal Catholic, pro LGBT, very center left politics and a liberal in most regards. His Catholicism I think is purely symbolic, and a tool to keep him sane with comfort of liturgy and prayer.

+Gaius “Caligula” Germanicus Amazing story, thanks for sharing it.
+Gaius “Caligula” Germanicus That's a very nice story.
well said
I think the world needs more people like stephen and he's a great role model
+Gaius “Caligula” Germanicus i discovered him in seventh grade. Every episode i see him do jokes i already wrote, he really needs to hire me

He is such a nice man and he seems like a genuinely decent human being.
Stephen Colbert is our national treasure! Could not survive the Trumped-up "presidency" without Stephen.
His interview with Biden was the realest, most emotional interview I have ever seen in my life. It was day 2.
Yep, absolutely
He would be such an amazing lawyer, very sharp
I loved the fact that Mo Rocca did this interview. :-) All the correspondents TDS has had have been awesome!
Colbert is simply a good man! We love you Stephen 👏
Great interview. Honest and sincere. I wish Stephen godspeed on the new show, it's been great so far.
The Real Stephen Colbert smiles a lot

Colbert really is something special. Not since Johnny Carson.
To those of you who make the chandelier sparkle and shine, and do the maintenance work and the janitorial work, thank you. You're just as important
as Stephen is. I know that he's grateful, too. 💖☺️
So glad to see so many who were touched by the Daily show go on to do so many great things. Glad to have Steven doing show with his style still!
It's really cool seeing these two former collogues in this interview.
Best late night host ever.
Built to last.
I love that Mo was interviewing him....old skool TDS fan. Late af w/ my comment...obviously.
Laughter = Colbert's fix
Colbert is a genius
I freaking LOVE this man!
I love watching his show. I plan to go to a live taping next year.
I would love to see him in "the office" with Steve Carell. They remind me so much of each other!!😊
2020: Stephen Colbert has blown everyone away
Damn . The bad boys of comedy .
I love MO and Stephen.
I love this guy., I love his show. he's awesome .
WHO ELSE COULD DO THIS JOB, and fill those GIANT SHOES. Colbert you are the best choice for this job. BUT PLEASE don't forget to show the TRUTH about that news network...You know the one??!!!
Lol, I knew they were 2 geeks of a feather..
51?!
Holy shit even without his makeup he still looks so young.
He is just great love his calling trump out
Two Daily Show alum.
The interviewer is like the american version of Louis theroux with grey hair
Read the title as "Stephen Colbert on getting to play with himself".
Oh could he be president, it would be so much better than what we are stuck with now.
STRANGERS WITH CANDY !!!!!!
Wow, that switch at 6:08 back to a 2005 resolution!
Mo Rocca is hot!
He's such a doll! And such a pleasant demeanor. He'd be a great dinner date.
Fallon is definitely Jimmy 2
for a while I thought Mo Rocca and Reza Azlan were the same person
Lol..
+tehkoalainsurgency i thought it was reza aslan when i saw the preview picture
+tehkoalainsurgency That guy looks like Louis Theroux. British Tv personality
+R Schlessel Louis for sure, just like him
+R Schlessel exactly, love Louie btw!! hes doing a doc on Scientology i think right now
Hahaha. Watcing this in 2018.
Remember when both of those guys were on the Daily Show? Now they’re talking like they don’t know each other.
I really enjoy seeing CBS's New York Life's unskippable RUclips commercials over and over again NOT
Two previous Daily Show correspondents together :)
What the fuck is Mo Rocca doing a legitimate interview?
his interviewer looks like jon oliver
good call
His name is accurately pronounced Stef-an Coldbert.
At first I thought Louis Theroux had aged overnight o.O
+GameJourney Weird, considering that Mo is less than a year older.
Why does his younger self looks like Robert Downey Jr
Do you know where this was filmed?
+Emma Miele NYC. Stephen's show is done at the Ed Sullivan Theatre on Broadway (same place Letterman did his show).
Oh my god! He's a person
I thought the title said Going on to play with himself. My bad 😆
Everybody gets access to all the dialogues and the few descriptions in the most recent novel I wrote.
The other late night shows don’t come close to colbert
Jimmy 1 = Fallon
Jimmy 2 = Kimmel
It goes by when they were on the air. Kimmel is 1.
also by which is funnier, kimmel is definitely 1.
Stephen Colbert wasnt playing a "character"!! He was playing himself! same as the late show. but it's cool how this interview can make u believe that
E
What about ‘Letterman?
I guess you could say his dad died on 9/11.
wow

I think he's still the same, maybe he dialed down a little bit the character, but from what I've seen so far, he's mostly the same Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report.
No male hormones detected in this video.
No male hormones detected in your comment or name either.
I don't hate him, but just not a fan of the political based humor. It's like race-based humor, not funny imo. I like it when he played a fox news host.
i really miss the other Steven, this new one is kinda boring
Colbert replacing Letterman was the biggest mistake of the century, what were they thinking? He's the biggest insult to The Late Show ever, I watched about 5 minutes of the 1st show and have never watched it again.
He is number one in the ratings though, beating Fallon, Kimmel, Conan, Corden, Meyers etc. So, someone must he enjoying him, as I do.
It’s one persons opinion, I certainly welcome it. I just don’t necessarily agree. Colbert had humongous shoes to fill. I think he’s doing pretty well. It took a while for him to figure out what to do with it, but he’s doing a pretty good job in my humble opinion.
Jeez. Whose loss is it , I wonder.🤔🤔
You watched 5 minutes? Wow very well informed opinion indeed.
You making that hilarious comment is even funny.
Man...he's got weird ears
His right ear required surgery because of, I believe, a severely perforated eardrum. During the surgery the ear is cut OFF from the back and folded over. As a result of the right ear having to be sewn back on, it has a different appearance from his left ear and he is deaf in that ear.
The only problem with Stephen is he is a catholic :(
Reverse Films Lol get over yourself.
He is Roman Catholic, but he is openly liberal Catholic, pro LGBT, very center left politics and a liberal in most regards. His Catholicism I think is purely symbolic, and a tool to keep him sane with comfort of liturgy and prayer.
@@johnking5174 , good for him.
Well apparently only a few watched the show. tehe. Good. I hope it B O M B S.
Jim Thomas Bahahahahahahahahahaha
Well I hate to disappoint you
Hi, i am from the future, and let me tell you... 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣 Sorry, i just can't 🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣😂
🤨
Chrissie K I bet he’s still popular.
Oh boy, I hate to break it to you but uh...
I'm so glad that he didn't become a lawyer.
