I have made these and I didn’t have any cornflakes, but I did have Doritos and I’m not even disappointed about the choice I made with that

I always watch funeral potato recipe videos just to see if anybody seasons them.. I don't understand why people don't season them, I use kosher salt, coarse ground black pepper, fresh garlic with caramelized onion, basil and oregano.. it's fantastic, also I do like to use paprika but it turns the whole dish pink 😂

We've eaten these for many years in our family. However we called them Presbyterian Potatoes because we would make them for church pot-lucks. At any rate, always a favorite.

These are an Irish tradition for St Paddy's Day and to take to grieving families...hence Funeral Potatoes. They are well-documented in Ireland in the 1800s. And the diced potatoes are far better than shredded. Well done. I find it important to shred block cheese vs using the pre-shredded cheese due to the anti-clumping treatment on those. Plus, they are usually not even real cheese these days.

Beautiful thing about Funeral Potatoes is it's adaptable to "make it your own".
For example, I may add some cubed ham or bacon crumbles. Or change the cheese- Gouda works well to for example.
Or top with French's fried onions ..

Even my grandmothers recipe was dry. Yours has way more moisture in the mix. All the ones that I have tried are soooo pasty and dry. Even Grandma's.. shhh don't say anything.. LOL.. Thank you Keri..

The funeral potatoes were a big hit at our Christmas party Friday night. There were 10 people at the party and the funeral potatoes got completely finished off and there was nothing left! I used panko bread crumbs on top instead of crushed cornflakes. Dang! And I was looking forward to some leftovers! 😉

The recipe calls for 1/2 cup melted butter, did you cut and melt 1/2 cup or at the end you say while poring it in you are saying 1/3 cup.could you tell me which it is, I like to try these Sunday. I thought 1/2 cup sounded like a lot, but like to make sure.
