The motto for the second half of 2023 is gonna be "unapologetically feminine but keep it very Italian". Thanks for being here for us, even when you don't go for pep talk you still add value to my life.
Just listening to your portion of the video where u talk abt becoming popular. It brought up so many thoughts/memories. So I was never popular, and my mom was. My whole life she just criticized me for my looks, not being on cheer/pep etc. so my self-esteem was wrecked. I did whatever my parents told me, even going to their university. I’m still finding my true self now in my 40s. I’m hoping I’m the opposite of that with my daughter. I was a bit helicopter-ish when she was young, and then in 3rd grade I caught myself. Gave my daughter space to fail/succeed and make choices. Her 5th grade year she was shunned by her “friends”. It was such a rough year. Really effing rough. Middle school came around and I was like who is this girl?? She had it in her mind after that awful year that she was not having it. She joined clubs, hung out with everyone, ran for leadership positions. She just went for it. This year she was homecoming royalty her freshman year. I’m proud. And not because she’s popular. But because she took control and went for what she wanted. She did lose friends along the way, but gained friends where she could be herself. I reminded her a true friend cheers you on and doesn’t hold you back.
I watched the whole thing...for having worked in the fashion industry for years I loved the theme of honoring Karl Lagerfeld whose body of work is incredible and beautiful. I liked the ones who spoke of Karl and his work and who gave stories. Not the ones who made it about themselves. The old supermodels I loved also Cara Delavigne, Dua Lipa and a few others
Shallon, please do a video on "friends that keep you on the hook". I don't think that you've ever covered this topic. I'm going through a very hard time. I just realised that my best friend of 13 years was keeping me on the hook for the past decade. I'm truly shattered. Your insight is all that I'm looking for. Much love ❤️
I LOVE this advice for how it's not about pretending to be something you're not to get in! All five are about one's own personal growth and long-term benefits.
I think you should base your social circle on shared interests and goals, rather than how 'elite' they are. I got to go to some rich people functions/dinners during my time as a chorister, and it was so stiff and tedious, I wouldn't willingly go again. It was just draining.
Professional functions can be so rigid and dull. Although I’ve always enjoyed most people I’ve met outside these events, it’s funny how the atmosphere at some functions can drain even the most interesting people of their spark
Same. I got to a place in life where I could go to the richest charity functions, wearing the beautiful gowns and sparkly cocktail dresses. After about four of those, I was over it.
@@ladydie1234 The theme as per Vogue, who hosts the Gala, was "in honor of Karl". The exhibit at the Met showcased his work from 1933-2019. He designed for many fashion houses, not just Chanel. Suki wore a piece honoring the last of his work (a 2019 dress)before he passed, instead of just going with a Chanel look like most participants. She fit the theme and didn't do what the majority did as a form of honoring his other ventures.
"Trim those dead ends - see who lets you grow, who wants you to stay in a box" that really spoke to me in regards to my career. Currently I'm a front-end software developer and from day one of my internship I wanted to get skills in back-end (there was a superb opportunity for a front-end position so I jumped it, but I just ended up jumping in a box they want female developers in). Currently I'm going through an interview process for a new company, I'll see what's their view on me going from frontend to fullstack within their company. Thank you, Shallon, your IT girl advice is even applicable for the most stereotypically uncool of career paths in... IT as information technology 😅, so glad I get to learn this from you
100% agree Sydney Sweeney oozes the feminine sexuality. You are trying to figure out a modern day Monica Bellucci and I got you - ALEXA DEMIE. I know you said you aren’t interested in watching Euphoria. And as a 30 year old woman I wasn’t either but it’s worth the watch!! And I think as someone with a younger audience if you gave it a shot so you can relate better to your audience as it is sooooo popular with the younger generation. Your girl Sydney Sweeney is on it!! And I am dying to hear your opinion on the rest of the girls - Alexa’s Demi’s character, Zendaya’s character, Maude Apatow’s character. Another modern sensual strong feminine woman is Kali Uchis. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Vanessa Hudgens and Lea Michelle there is like the endless parade of celebrities at the Oscar's after party. They haven't done anything to go to the actual ceremony so events like that is everything they have
Always a big fan of your videos for years now. I think its important to roll with what seems right about what you say and leave the rest. I wish you wouldve talked about motives behind what we want like the example of you wanting to be popular. I feel like its important to be introspective about wanting validation from others versus what opportunities being in certain social circles will bring. If its just for the sake of it i dont think its important. Because it can branch off into other avenues in our life and catch up with us in negative ways as we get older. But i also believe in being humble through those storms so 🙃
I suggest reading the book «Her Country» (or a summary). I found a deep respect for the journeys of Maren and Kacey. They’re definitely climbers (against the odds). Love the stories of these badass country women!
Classic femininity is such a beautiful work of art and it’s sad how wokeness is destroying it. Thank you Shallon for preserving the art of class. It truly makes us women feel so warm blooded and empowered when we embrace our fierce womanhood
@@dr.anaB777 I don’t understand what are you talking about? Classic femininity is an ideal that comes from Greece statues. And for them nudity was a sign of moral virtues, nothing sexual - and that’s why all important figures and gods are nude or semi nude. Nothing about subjugating women.
Thank you, that was inspirational. I just made a list of my interests and am going to start taking steps towards making them lucrative so I can enjoy my life.
So many good points in this video and I've definitely used your advice before. I moved to Denver Feb 2022 and it CAN be hard making friends and networking but it isn't when you know what role you can play. One of my main friends here is such a likable dude and he always has something going on. Look, I like people but I'm a social sprinter. Anyways, moral of the story. I'm great friends with him and became friends with ppl in his friend groups because I found a role. I'm the guy that's always going to show up to the social activities, i'm easy-going, I'm going to add to the experience. Literally missed something on Sunday because my eye was hurting and he told me the group missed my "peaceful energy" and that's the PERFECT line to be in. In some friendships and dynamics, I AM that guy. Do I want to be the guy here? Do I have to be to cultivate a great friend group? No.
I just saw so much of myself in Blair - she was openly and unabashedly ruthless, but also so vulnerable and exhausted underneath it all. That’s a really good video series idea! Note: I will NOT be acknowledging the “new” GG reboot WHATSOEVER because it is a TRASH IMPOSTER.
You have to be a social climber to succeed on any field nowadays. Even my husband who is a tech nerd said that you have to be in good with the right people to make it at all in the field.
Okay, Shallon your hair is glowing your eyes pop and that top so chill idk what it is but you look radiant like glowing I think it’s the pink blush and you look 25 literally !! I think it’s the way you did your blush plus the hair. Keep doing it this way, I’m in love.

I wanted to be popular in high school, but didn’t like the people who were ‘popular’ there. So I just picked the people who I liked and we became popular since we were really fun and cool. 😁
Thank you for the tip on Improv classes, I do feel somehow stunted, socially speaking, and Improv classes would do me a lot of good! Would you create a course on social climbing? None of us would care about a crappy ex when we have an amazing life... And how to get into industries that are a close-knit community? Like Theatre and Film and Arts in general? With tips and resources on how to do the research you need? How do you find the butterflies and connectors to get you into the circles you want to be in? A new addition to Alpha Academy?
Omg the Florence rant made me laugh so much! I had the same reaction to her outfit. I love that she is so confident but she is definitely delusional as to what suits her. She is so pretty but she needs to learn what looks good on her x
I appreciated this so much. My kids are really spread out-19, 15, and 8. The mom I am too my 8 year old is different from the mom I was to my oldest at the age of 8. Instead of questioning God’s timeline I have just come to accept that who I am now to my current 8 year old is a different mom than what my oldest needed when he was eight. You also challenged me to start asking myself again what it is I am supposed to be now that I’m almost done with being a mom to my oldest two children. I have a lot of questions but as you said, I am going to accept that God’s timeline for me is okay.
The Met Gala is the perfect model to represent the social climbing topic, because what is fashion above a visual representation of a person? We've seen the kind of styles that Lagerfeld, Versace, and other designers created and their focus groups of those designs. It's all set in the stone of values, and values change as we grow up and jump into new social situations. There's lots of parts of us that stay the same as we grow, but also lots of values that change because we experience new life lessons which gives us new perspectives, allowing us to assess and potentially change values that may no longer resonate with us, or values that maybe didn't before but do resonate now. The Met Gala has always been stemmed from the collective artistic vision of Anna Wintour, who really has dove deep into the value-based visions of designers for years through Vogue.
Loved the vid sis🥰 Can you pls make the same video but from an industry perspective of when you were working as a Editor in Chief in NYC? Currently working my way into more circles to land more gigs as a creative. Thx xoxo
I was invited to a 70s theme party once an my mind totally went to Charlie's angels type of fashion. I had bell bottoms, full blown dried volume hair and 70s style make up...I get there and it's a GO-Go galore l. Lol! I've should have known it was more Party City 70s. I like to be very authentic to a theme too.
I love your suggestion to take improv. I took my first improv class at age thirty and it really opened up my worldview and my public speaking abilities. I did theater in middle school but I was still painfully shy until I took improv.
Wealth and privilege are put on such a high pedestal. If you don't have it some people will look down on you, which is to be expected. The problem though is they'll also be the first ones to put a boot in your face and laugh at you the minute you attempt to reach a level anywhere near them.
while I didn't love Kylie's outfit she was very on theme the train of her dress is actually a coat which is like the ones Karl used to design while at Chanel for Andre Leon Talley who was a fashion journalist and editor at large at Vogue for a very long time. they were friends and the coats were a staple in Talley's wardrobe. a lot of articles and posts just aren't showing the pictures of her with the train up us a coat
A little related to this, I would love a video on how to build an online platform like you did with yours. Or even just a community in general, do you have any tips for that?
Hot question: how much would someone have to pay you to shave your head? I feel like if I had to date with a shaved head, there would have to be an extra zero at the end of that sum.
@@shallonlester How do we really even know what our heads look like if we’ve never shaved them? I have a bad feeling about mine. The risk- reward would have to be high. Like a gorgeous house with a pool paid off in full. Then if the scalp is ick, I can hide in my luxurious home until it’s safe to come out.
I had a partial side cut for a while back in 2016 (I’d get it cut to like a 3 length , just back to right past my ear) and when it hit that awkward stage I just adjusted my hair part to more of a middle part to cover it and once it was long enough I’d slick it back with pomade if I wanted to blend it into a ponytail- or I’d do a low bun with my hair part adjusted to cover it 😊 most annoying point was maybe 6-7 weeks grown out when I couldn’t really do anything with it
Fun thing was when I went bald that my hair grew back with tiny curls. I've always had straight hair before 😅 Every stage looked awful, but it was kind of on purpose because I didn't get haircuts in between, so the overall process went by way faster. 2 years later my hair was breast- length again so everything's fine by now 👍 (but still curly)

Nice dress, wrong timing. Her dress looked like the “you’re doing amazing, sweetie” photo shoot with the updated pearls and Skims underneath. She should of opted for something more covering but creative which is what this is all about. I also find it very ironic she went for a fashion house that was very much hated by Karl lol 😆
Hey, Shallon! First, I just want to say how much I LOVE your videos. I have a question about your getting ex back course. I purchased it a few months ago and was wondering if the Shallontourage membership is included?
I just love you. I was telling my followers (23k but hey not bad) that you're truly a mother figure to me also in that even when i disagree with you I see your side, I can appreciate it even if its not how my brain wants to go (and im autistic so that's saying something i really take others thoughts just to heart and it affects my world idk, but I think at the end of the day it's just that I see things as you first and foremost, you are a beautiful perfect being, but also your narcissism with a lower case i so the products of that that i might reject for myself are just always tinged with the light of your narcissism being such a gift & such a part of your perspective & power & I just wouldn't change a thing about you even if I could) The words within the parentheses were so their own tangent that I don't know where to go from here, but yeah. Oh I started typing this as you're talking about those who wants general questions asked and those who don't. And us neurodivergents don't love pleasantries, I personally never ask people questions they get all the time cuz im so empathetic (to my own detriment) I would never want that asked of me. But yeah so I'll attract a different type of person but you fit that in, and somehow, without being aware of it, you always do. Yeah, it really does make us different in all these little ways and it's like you have a foot in each pool or whatever the saying is because I think any reasonable person with an IQ over 120 does. So thanks for being smart & wise & gorgeous & a narcissist. I am also all of those things & it's so nice to have SOLID representation. A decent amount of representation, very few of it truly solid. I'm drunk, thanks for existing, bye
The theme was Karl lagerfeld not Chanel. Kylie wore a dress designed by haider Ackerman for jean Paul gaultier. The reason she wore jpg by h.a is because h.a used to work under Karl lagerfeld and was endorsed by Karl to be the next creative director of Chanel after Karl. Thanks for being here for us, even when you don't go for pep talk you still add value to my life.
How on earth did Ice Spice get into the Met Gala.
She's popular right now. So they invited her
she’s hot and famous
I have never heard of her.
Industry plant*cough cough*
She twerked on Anna wintour turned her lesbian
Amanda Seyfried will probably land a perfume editorial from that look, she looked like a perfume ad
“Your love is not an accessory” 💯
I watched the whole thing...for having worked in the fashion industry for years I loved the theme of honoring Karl Lagerfeld whose body of work is incredible and beautiful. I liked the ones who spoke of Karl and his work and who gave stories. Not the ones who made it about themselves. The old supermodels I loved also Cara Delavigne, Dua Lipa and a few others
I would love to see them honor Vivienne Westwood or Alexander McQueen.
Shallon, will you please make a video about how to dress for your body type!
I read this too fast and saw “blood type” and thought wow ok that’s a challenge but yes 😂
5:55- Suki's dress is by Karl, for Fendi SS 2019, one of the last he designed.
Uck fine!!
@@shallonlestergreat.. but it still didn't fit the theme.
IT as information technology 😅, so glad I get to learn this from you
Can you please do a video on how to stop the jealousy and get a HOLD of yourself? I live in NYC and this is so relatable!!!! I need tips.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
am i the only 1 sad the kardashians weren’t banned from the met gala?
nope 😅
They managed to keep that connection without Kanye. I'm impressed.
I really wish they would fade into obscurity.
@@kp4911 in your dream stay jealous
Stay sad forever jealous
Vanessa Hudgens and Lea Michelle there is like the endless parade of celebrities at the Oscar's after party. They haven't done anything to go to the actual ceremony so events like that is everything they have
Idk about Vanessa hudgens but Lea Michelle is on Broadway.
True! Remember when Vanessa was mad that Coachella didn’t happen during Covid? Cause she needs these events lol
I shaved my head. It was fun . I'll do it again in the future at some point I'm sure. It's liberating and worth the grow out period.
Sydney Sweeney is the reason I get reminded why I am bi 💀💀💀 she was one of the best dressed and hottest.
😂😂😂 LITERALLY SAME! Conversely, Kristen Stewart never makes me feel straighter 😵
Sydney sweeny dress was shit, wtf was with the random bows. Her huge country singer hair
oh I really loved Kylies outfit, like really elegant and zero tacky. You could tell it was couture dress.
Anne Hathaway needs to be the face of aveeno with Jennifer Anniston. They give me the same vibe. Same with Reese Witherspoon
This 😂😂😂
I actually really like Amanda’s seyfried’s outfits. Her hair was gorgeous and I liked the way the outfit looked on her
Please write a book, about this topic your life lessons it would help so many others, find themselves.
I’m with you! She needs to write a book. 😅
I think Alexa Demi, Kali Uchis, and Rihanna rep the sirens and femme fatales well.
Zoe kravitz as well
Classic femininity is such a beautiful work of art and it’s sad how wokeness is destroying it. Thank you Shallon for preserving the art of class. It truly makes us women feel so warm blooded and empowered when we embrace our fierce womanhood
Can you explain what does this actually mean? Like in real life. Like what? What behaviour?
i think it’s crazy to say us women like you can speak for everyone
You do know that the concept of classic femininity is meant to subjugate women and to keep them striving for men's validation.
Thank 👏 you 👏
@@dr.anaB777 I don’t understand what are you talking about?
No.
Message me somehow I’m in Denver too, would love to meet another shallogator
I couldn't think of a less "sexy" woman for Versace than Anne Hathaway. Anne Hathaway is like..... wheat toast, theater kid.
I still can't believe she was cast as Catwoman.
@@kp4911 finaly someone said it. Thank you

@@kp4911wait, what she was cast as Catwoman? That woman can’t be sexed up, she’s so boooring. 33:32
SHALLON WE NEED A VIDEO ON GOSSIP GIRL CHARACTERS ANALYSIS!! Can't wait to hear why you love Blair more then Serena !!!
Shallon, I guess we're telepathic. 😂 I randomly clicked on your channel to check if you've released a new video and here it is: uploaded 1 minute ago.
completely agree about Ann Hathaway wearing Versace!
I think Anne is better suited for Valentino
You have to be a social climber to succeed on any field nowadays. Even my husband who is a tech nerd said that you have to be in good with the right people to make it at all in the field.
Okay, Shallon your hair is glowing your eyes pop and that top so chill idk what it is but you look radiant like glowing I think it’s the pink blush and you look 25 literally !! I think it’s the way you did your blush plus the hair.
Keep doing it this way, I’m in love.
Every like 10 videos it all just comes together and I look really good and today was that one video I have no idea why or how.
@@shallonlester your blush with the way your highlight is placed perfectly where you parted your hair it looks so good. But I do think it’s the tan/blush placement it fits you.
You look 25 no more no less.
@Shallon Lester it looks like you had your colors done and you're glowing. I agree w the original comment.
I Agree with you. She looks stunning! Color placement is key 💕
Yes I agree I think it’s your hair color and lip color
I wanted to be popular in high school, but didn’t like the people who were ‘popular’ there. So I just picked the people who I liked and we became popular since we were really fun and cool. 😁
Shallon should be at the door at the Met Gala telling all of these people these things and sending them back and save us the disappointment 😂👏🏽
“blair waldorf meets dr phil” couldn’t get more accurate 🤣😂💖
Loved this episode! It was very motivating :) I'm feeling a lot of fire to achieve things now
Agreed! I want to sit my kids down and lecture them about all I just learned. Lol
I shaved my head.
It was the funnest haircut.
As it grew out, it was so fun to try out literally every style of haircut.
Shaved my head during quarantine and three months later I had an excellent collection of wigs
Lol that's probably what I'd do!
As someone who shaved my head the grow out point you described is exactly right lol. I just powered thru it
Honestly one of my favorite Shallon videos
Loved the vid sis🥰
Can you pls make the same video but from an industry perspective of when you were working as a Editor in Chief in NYC? Currently working my way into more circles to land more gigs as a creative. Thx xoxo
I signed up for accessing Laura St. John’s online content. Thank you for promoting her. I hope to get a lot out of it 💗
I was invited to a 70s theme party once an my mind totally went to Charlie's angels type of fashion.
Are we ever getting the rest of the taylor and joe video???????
Megan fox embodies the instinctual sexy look you were talking about.
Honestly, the whole Met-gala seems cheap these days. Anyone and everyone is there, it's not exclusive or exciting anymore.
Wealth and privilege are put on such a high pedestal. If you don't have it some people will look down on you, which is to be expected. The problem though is they'll also be the first ones to put a boot in your face and laugh at you the minute you attempt to reach a level anywhere near them.
Dont try then
The way you screamed ANNE HATHAWAY 😭😂
while I didn't love Kylie's outfit she was very on theme the train of her dress is actually a coat which is like the ones Karl used to design while at Chanel for Andre Leon Talley who was a fashion journalist and editor at large at Vogue for a very long time. they were friends and the coats were a staple in Talley's wardrobe. a lot of articles and posts just aren't showing the pictures of her with the train up us a coat
I wear a Buzz cut and it's absolutely great! Men that only like women with long hair are not my problem.
A little related to this, I would love a video on how to build an online platform like you did with yours. Or even just a community in general, do you have any tips for that?
I do agree not many earth goddesses in Hollywood. However, I think ALEXA DEMI is definitely that for the now
Hey! Nerdy mom here. I think Florence shaved her head for Dune 2.
Dune 2 finished filming over 6 months ago. The trailer drops tomorrow.
@@kp4911 Thanks! And just watched the trailer. Soooooo excited!
I like what Amanda Seyfried wore. I think if she wore a black dress it would have looked better!!
Kim K looked great! Ashley Graham loved!
If Versace picked anne hathaway Im guessing they are trying to rebrand themselves as ‘classier’.
Shallon!!! Please please PLEASE do a video on this Meghan & Harry paparazzi “near-catastrophic car chase” fiasco!!!! 🤡🤡 I’m DYING to hear your take! 😂🤣😂💀
Shallon and Shakira the only celebrities I follow 👏🏻
They did that thing at the met gala because of coco Rocha i just got back from her camp she’s amazing you should do a video on her
There were only two ladies there who really epitomized Chanel elegance: Nicole Kidman and Emily Blunt. I’m shocked Keira Knightly wasn’t there.
The way I clicked onto this video SO FAST
55 MINUTES YEEEESSSSS ❤
I thought Paris, Billie looked beautiful ❤️ luv the shirt Shallon i like that better than any of the dresses 👍🏻
anne hathaway is such a nerd😩😩 who made the decision of making her the face of versace???! i cant🤣
Shallon, your makeup and lipstick colour here looks gorgeous on you 😍💖
Nice dress, wrong timing. Her dress looked like the “you’re doing amazing, sweetie” photo shoot with the updated pearls and Skims underneath. She should of opted for something more covering but creative which is what this is all about. I also find it very ironic she went for a fashion house that was very much hated by Karl lol 😆
Hi Shallon you should make a video about improv classes! Tell us about your experience and how it can help us. I am honestly considering starting
Fuck, that was the least legible thing I've written in ages and it's to someone I respect, you deserve better.
Shallon, you look stunning! What is the brand and shade of your lipstick? So pretty!
It’s MAC liner in Soar, filled in and then Cover Girl clean Yummy gloss over it in whatever the red color is!
When I think of Anne Hattawey, I think of Carolina Herrera tbh
The theme was Karl lagerfeld not Chanel. Kylie wore a dress designed by haider Ackerman for jean Paul gaultier. The reason she wore jpg by h.a is because h.a used to work under Karl lagerfeld and was endorsed by Karl to be the next creative director of Chanel after Karl. Kylie is also the face of jpg right now… the most self promoting thing ever lol
Great video! Thank you, Shallon. I just moved to a new city and I want a better life and will use your advice for sure.
