“Hope & Josie: Kindred Spirits” a.k.a. THE Edit is a project that attempts to analyze Hope and Josie’s relationship together and separately. This 7-minute + edit compiles each specific and careful point the writers have crafted in this universe, using points from other ships and important people in their lives as a way to emphasize how hosie works from different perspectives. i think the thing that frustrates me the most about handon and the writers, is that landon's words don't match his actions, yet writers don't really acknowledge that.
his whole "i've always loved you, i loved you when i was dead" speech? i'm not even talking about trying to set her up with raf etc etc... in 2x05 he WAS ABOUT TO HAVE SEX WITH JOSIE, she asked him if he's sure, and he replied (as he had visions about hope already....) "never been so sure of anything in my life". what was that for dear writers? not saying he didn't feel something towards hope, and some pull he didn't know how to explain. YET he wasn't the one to actually try to figure what tf is going on. i don't know why the writers added those stuff if they don't acknowledge them. so is he basically a 2.0 fuckboy or a liar? both? a typical man? what was the reason?
"i'm gonna be the guy that always fights to find you again" now that's a romantic thing to say. truly. just, i guess not as much when it DOESN'T MATCH WITH YOUR ACTIONS. having visions about hope and knowing she is connected to him, he just.. ? tried to question her a bit? yeah. tried to set her up with his brother..? yup. basically waited for the answers to get to him. stood in his place. while josie, NOT having visions or some bullshit, felt something off about hope since the beginning

& say whatever you wanna say about her being verbally hostile towards hope when not remembering her... BUT at the end of the day, SHE was the one to ACT. she felt something off and didn't let go. she was the one to go alone to New Orleans (11 hours drive), to question, to investigate, to try to understand, to realize that FAMILY IS ALWAYS & FOREVER. she FOUGHT for hope and her family's sake. helped everyone to "FIND" HOPE, FIND their memories of hope. she got to see hope's family missing her and realized hope misses her family as well, without "knowing" her. she did this tho it didn't necessarily align with her interests. did the unselfish thing. did black magic that hurt her.
you could say that like landon, sometimes josie's words don't match with her actions (well, more like, she shows affection less through words. she barely even says i love you to anyone because of her abandonment issues. only said "love you too" to lizzie once), she talks less and acts more. she shows her love and caring through actions and not with EMPTY words like landon, who knows how to sometimes say something that is supposed to be romantic, yet doesn't pull through when it comes to executing those promises and words.
he does "die for hope" which is supposed to be a romantic act i suppose. i just don't know how much of a sacrifice it is when it's your 10th time dying and coming back to life, knowing you will come back. i mean, good for him i suppose, and i hope he finds someone to appreciate this romantic gesture of his, but this is not what hope wants or needs. look, the boy is constantly leaving when things get hard, it doesn't mean he's a bad person and don't think for a second this is my intention. he, just like everyone there, is a traumatized teen and as of right now that's how he deals with his trauma - by leaving the difficult situation he needs to deal with. BUT that's exactly what hope doesn't need.
hope fears being abandoned. she used to feel like when things got hard her dad left, that everyone leaves her. she just wants someone to think she's worth staying for and that will stay with her even when things get hard. which landon almost never does. she stays with him though - because he is the "safe choice", he can't die while everyone hope had ever loved died. she feels like he's supposed to be the love of her life. her family saw him right before everything went south and klaus and elijah died. also with hayley telling her she wants her to find an epic love before she dies.
hope is trying to hold onto that, with landon who she met at that EXACT time. the safe immortal choice. whereas josie is low key "destined" to die at 22. she also got a self sacrificing behavior. hope doesn't wanna love and lose another person. so she clenches to the one thing that can't die. can't leave her... yet he still does constantly.
IN CONCLUSION, I LOVED WORKING ON THIS EDIT ALONG WITH RIANNA AND TERI, I HOPE THIS SHOWS EVERYONE WHAT WE SEE IN HOSIE.

I find it interesting how when Hope is crying she asks Landon to leave because she doesn’t want to reveal her emotions to him and let him see her weak side but she feels comfortable to cry in front of Josie and have intimate moments with her. It’s also funny how Hope literally says to Landon I just want someone who wants me to stay (or something like that) and Landon doesn’t do anything about it but Josie says she wants Hope to stay without even knowing what Hope said to Landon. Josie just had the instinct and love to say that to her!!
so when are y'all sneaking into the writers room and securing our hosie endgame?
If ever there was a chance for that, it would be now. Hope preparing to kill Malivore even if it kills Landon (both her and Raf know that he would want that anyway) and Josie facing being left alone again
I will NEVER forgive Landon for how he spoke about Hope’s family and parents. The audacity he had.

this made me a little angry when he said this though, because her mom and dad didn't leave without reason, they died to save her. but landons family literally just walked away...

I love how subconscious Landon holds Hope’s hand once and she’s like “I need personal space” but she has held Josie’s hand like 50 times even when they weren’t even proper friends and she’s happy to do it every time!

Listen, whether you ship Hosie or not (I totally do) Landon is not right for Hope. He has a victim complex, plays on Hope’s insecurities meaning her abandonment issues and brought up her dead parents which pissed me off. Not to mention he basically called her stupid by saying all she does is punch her way through her problems instead of using her brain. He just assumes that when he leaves Hope will be waiting for him when he finally grows a pair and comes back. It’s TOXIC. He’s the safe option for Hope but you can see clear as day that she has more chemistry with Josie. After everything that happened with the stupid love triangle it was JOSIE who told Hope she wanted her to stay, which is all Hope has ever wanted. Landon is good character I’m not saying he’s not, but he’s not right for Hope. Sure Hope loves him but I don’t think she’s IN Love with him and there’s a big difference between the two. You can also see that when Hope smiles like really smiles, that she tilts her head a bit and she did that when Josie admitted to having a crush on her. Idk about you but if someone told me they burned my room and the only thing I had of my dead father, I’d be pissed but Hope let it go the second Josie admitted her crush. Plus the whole girl between 2 brothers thing is getting old. We were told we’d see Hope explore her sexuality and we haven’t seen that yet.
I totally agree with all of this. Also the smile thing is so true I noticed that as well. I don’t think she has ever smiled at Landon like that except when she was infected with the unicorn parasite which wasn’t even the real her it was an extremely happy version of her because her mind was corrupted. It’s pretty obvious who is the better partner. Also I agree I think it should be two sisters not two brothers Hope is stuck between or even Landon and Josie just something different from the classic TvD universe love triangle. Great comment. 😊
@@sbsrandom223 I mean we saw the whole Hope, Landon, Josie triangle already and I didn’t really like it. Maybe if Hope was the one being fought over. I think the triangle between Hope, Ethan and Maya could be interesting if they give Maya more screen time. I don’t think they’d do it between Hope. Josie and Lizzie because it could ruin the trios friendship and the fans love that. If they do eventually give us Hosie it probably won’t be til season 4 or 5. Like how we had to wait til season 4 to get the first glimpse of Delena

This video is amazing & is definitely 10 times better than what we are seeing now in this new season. I don't even recognize Hope, her character is so OC. I just want badass Hope & Josie back with Lizzie, MG, Kaleb & Jed. I'm over Landon & Handon. To me Landon DOES NOT deserve to EVER speak the words Always & Forever to Hope. I just want Hosie to be endgame. Josie & Hope seem to be a perfect match they seem to balance each other as well as respect each other.

This was so well done and I loved seeing all the connections and parallels. A part of me thinks some instances is just because the writing is terribly inconsistent for the show but this is still so beautiful and I might start shipping Hosie frfr again instead of just thinking the edits are pretty for it.
im rewatching this at least 2x a day to heal some cracks on my hosie heart..
the family part though.. i remember josie's conviction with it in their first council meeting..that actually what seals the deal for me how josie is the person for hope..
First of all, this is AMAZING and better than anything Legacies has done. Second of all, you truly captured why Hosie is the right choice for Hope and Josie’s endgames. They simply fit so well together. They balance one another, they make each other BETTER, stronger. They don’t feel like they have to bring themselves down for the other. They trust each other. They have the history, they have the trust, they have the chemistry, they have the story. Legacies may not be the best show but they have so much potential with these two and if the writers by some miracle jump on this opportunity, they can leave a lasting legacy (see what I did there?) behind that neither TVD or TO ever did.
Also there’s another line in s4 where Alaric says to hope “I know this isn’t easy for u watching the people u love In danger” and Josie is one of those ppl I’m danger

This word can be often overused or misused but I truly feel Handon is toxic. They clearly aren’t right for each other and Landon is clearly holding Hope back in many ways. Landon has a victim complex, Hope has a hero one. It doesn’t make for a healthy dynamic.
Exactly. Sometimes even if you love someone they may not always be right for you. You have to know when to let go, in the end it’s the best for both of them.
And I like both characters (Hope and Landon) fine individually but when they’re together it’s hard to separate that liking when I see what toxic relationship has been created :(
