  • Robert Mitchum giving an interview in France which I am assuming was done around the time of release of Ryan's Daughter, given the mention of it in the introduction.

@GordonMorrice I would also recommend if you can find it "Robert Mitchum On The Screen" by Marill. My public library has one copy so I don't know how easy it is to purchase but it is a very good compendium on all his movies, even the bit parts, up until The Big Sleep. I really need to just buy a copy!

@zoolzool1 10 months since you asked the question but I believe the indecent question was which actress was his favourite to work with.

Does anyone know what was the indecent question the reporter asked Robert?

My French is limited, but I think the interviewer said something close to "You've had close to all the famous actresses for partners (co-stars?). Which one is your favorite?"

@GordonMorrice The general consensus is that the author is too enamored for a unbiased biography. Personally I believe that Mitchum's life was paradoxically so crazy and so mundane that unless you were there you will never know the whole truth. lol I've sought out some of the earlier "biographies" that were published before Mitchum's death and they are very sanitized to say the least (minus the pot bust). My favorite personally is a book titled Mitchum In His Own Words available on Amazon.
