Seeing a Gief be patient with the Akuma matchup is beautiful. Definitely the most tense SF6 matchup to watch. Congrats Junior
people in the comments calling Daigo predictable for relying on fireballs and good spacing really think they could go ape and hyper aggro on a Zangief - one of the best Giefs at that - with Akuma and win.
like damn, sorry Daigo is choosing to play this matchup as safe as possible when two touches means he’s dead.
"this matchup as safe as possible when two touches means he’s dead." 👍👍👍
2:49 nice 3rd strike setup
Who knew the most epic matchup of Street Fighter 6 was going to be Akuma vs Zangief. No matter how much my brain tries to tell me this should be silly, my heart remains spellbound.
It is the ultimate matchup of extremes; barbarian versus assassin.
One is slow and limited but can kill his opponent in only a few good reads, the other has to hit his opponent many times but has much more utility to make that happen. Things are stressful on both ends.
Both have extreme advantages over the other so it's fun watching how they exploit that.
they are always a terror for each other. zangief is bothered by akumas mobility and misdirection. akuma can only take 2 spd and it's game over.
If you saw these 2 irl you wouldn't be laughing
@@ImpalingthornAkuma’s not an assassin he doesn’t use setups
This game's Chipp/Potemkin
7:17 Sync 😂
Satsui no Hado can't beat the power of the loyal fans!
Akuma vs zangief was always an entertaining match up.
Really great games well played to both 🎉
These two are so entertaining to watch.
9:44 backdash > spd into DR dash > spd this is real Zangief gaming
While zangief’s red cyclone theme song is playing 🤣
High level players know Daigo's way of playing. It's predictable. Tokido's Akuma play is vastly different and much more unpredictable.
In fairness, Tokido is an Akuma specialist and has been for longer than some people have been playing Street Fighter. Daigo, at least post SF2, plays whatever shoto allows him to be flexible. If you watch Tokido's matches against Kichipa (one of the best Giefs in the world,) he has to slow down exactly like Daigo is here once he starts losing too many rounds. It's just how this matchup goes.
Juniors timing of the parrys......amazing
sacrifice yourself to the sauce wings nohado!
what a comeback
That first match was absolutely perfect execution from Daigo
Daigo lost the first match lol
@@Spam877 I meant the 1st round.
not even Daigo can avoid the unstoppable force called Zangief
Daigo tem ficado com medo contra o ZANGIEF...percebesse o receio de atacar!!...
Cara joga demais com zang
Akuma takes hits like a newborn smh. Son has 0 defense
Lowest health in the game, yeah. 9000 vs the average 10000. Marisa has 10500 and Gief has 11000.
Honda has 10500 too
@@ThePageofCupsuhh Honda literally has extra health
Daigo seems to be trying to play Akuma like Ryu. He’s leaving most of Akuma’s tools unused.
Get out there and show him how it’s done bro
Daigo good..
Skill issue in these comments
Geifs damage is ridiculous..well I guess Akumas low health doesn’t make it any better either 😂
Daigo needs to play like he only has 20% health left at all times.
He only makes interesting plays when his back is against the wall. Otherwise its just fireballs and medium kick.
Because at high health, that is the objectively best way to play against Gief for Akuma. Zone/poke him out and don't put yourself at risk. Akuma has the lowest health in the game; he doesn't want to brawl with a character that can end a round in two reads. He wants to get a life lead, then run away and punish mistakes until timeover or until Gief dies. That's just how the matchup goes.
Whats the name of the song?
Si te refieres a la del primer match es la de akuma en street fighter 4, es la mejor versión de la soundtrack original de akuma, excelente.
Buti nga talo si Daigo. Haha!
if i made that many non-cancelable moves in gold/plat i’d die of drive impacts in a second. it’s like they don’t know they can do that
It's because in gold/plat, you're probably doing it in a way that's easy to predict + people just spam DI there. At higher levels of play, nobody spams DI because the risk of doing so is far too high. Additionally, most of the moves they throw out, even if they're not cancelable, typically recover in time to counter DI on reaction. You see that every so often in matches at this level where someone will try to call out a non-cancellable move with DI and get punished for it because it wasn't as minus as they thought/attempted it too late.
Yeah it's because the lower ranks just spam lol that's why ltg says he plays bad against people who are worse than him
If you're gold/plat you need to stop saying stupid shit on the Internet and start playing the damn game so I can farm you with my pocket Blanka
Daigo spam till you win didn't work this time. Junior did an excellent job!
.
I think the next world tournament is going to be boring because everyone is going to use Akuma. DAIGO uses guile what is he doing with Akuma?
Nah man, akuma have a short life and i guess no one will leave a mastered character just to trade for Akuma, Tokido for sure and daigo maybe, but mostly i dont think so
DaiBum
Why did Cap take Giefs Backhand ? That would make the Fireball spammers think twice. Yet here we are
I want it back but his damage is crazy. He would be to op with it.
It's rare to see Daigo feel the taste of his own medicine
not rare at all
sad to see Daigo's decline, with throw loop almost ineffective nowadays
Not really that sad. Daigo's peak passed a while ago - arguably the early-mid SF4 era. He notably didn't like SF5 very much and his performance in SF6 has been 'competitive, but just outclassed.' He plays because he's basically an ambassador to the game now, has a lot of name recognition, and still probably enjoys it overall. He still has a worker's mindset for the game, so he's always going to be Good Enough to hang even with the new blood (and some of his older rivals.) His presence is good publicity, especially in Japan.
It's just that the past few generations of fighters have allowed people to grind out games over the internet with basically-local experience, share tech easier, and overall just improve as a community in ways that were only traditionally possible in smaller communities offline. This is the era of people like Endingwalker, for example, whose experience was originally purely online. He came out of nowhere and started catching bodies because he was able to start playing in an environment that let him constantly get games in and communicate in real time regardless of time of day, and for as much or as little as he needed/wanted to. It's a huge shift.
The reality is just that Daigo is in his 40s, has a family (and thus other priorities than work and/or school,) and the people coming up around him have been able to hit new ceilings of skill that he simply wasn't during his prime. Less a 'decline' and more of a 'people just got better.'
No neutral jumps no demon flips no air fireball....boring.
Imagine thinking demon flipping on gief is a good idea. Lariat can also go through fireballs and anti-air Akuma so air fireball is generally just not the play.
Does anybody else think Zangief is over powered? His regular grab and slams do 1/4 damage.
No. Akuma has a low health pool.
You know, thinking that makes you a new player, everyones meterless bnb also does that much damage
zangief is so stupid
boring
I am kind of disappointed with Daigo, I mean I have watched like 7 videos and he always ends up losing.
Junior is much better player, Daigo is only fire balls
Junior only has to hit him twice. Daigo has to hit him a bunch more.
daigo has the second most evo win in the fgc. he has better reaction time, and understanding of the neutral. he also play with the other guys head making him one of the all time greats
you just need a couple of mistakes against pro zangief players to be destroyed to pieces.. specially in low health chars like Akuma.. if you dont keep it away.. even if it is need it chip him with 10.000 fireballs you are absolutly done for..if he grab you 3 times.. or 2 if he did some minor damage first you are absolutly dead..
Daigo spammer shootken
