Great Video! I recently fail in the river duck hunting any Citori wouldnt recock the barrels. I worked and worked on the gun but was unsure how to "FULLY" tear it down. This video walked me through everything and with a REALLY GOOD CLEANING the Browing Citori is back in action!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank You for your content!!
I bought my 525 (exact spec as this one) about the same time as you made this video, looks like I made a good choice. I've just had my first fault with it after 10-15,000 shots, the lower barrel firing pin became pitted and started having "fail to fire", got a new pin and spring (£28) fitted it myself, 40 minutes including giving it a good clean, job done!
Same exact situation here, after a ton of shells , many many I shoot year around clays skeet, trap , sporting clays and upland birds, doves etc. my firing pin became Pitts, failed to fire, just a tiny dent in shell primer. Took to gunsmith he replaced spring, firing pins and it was back in business
Just bought my 1st gun, a 525 made way back in 2011. It was this review that swayed me from the Miroku, that and the price and the adjustable comb. The silver pigeons were a good 1/4" too low in the comb for me. Used it for the first time yesterday, and used your other 525 vid to remove the ejectors when cleaning the gun. I couldn't believe the crud that was in the rebates in the back of them. Keep up the good work. You're right about the sound when it closes Jon, a reassuringly solid clunk. Could do with a review of (well) used .22 rim fires, a "what to look for" "best value for money", type thing, I got an FAC with my SGC :-)
A little trick I always do when changing the very powerful ejector or mainsprings is to loosely tie a piece of cardboard or paper to the spring, then if it does fly across the workshop it doesn't bounce very far and is easy to find.
A good idea would be to show what you do from start to finish when someone brings in their gun for a regular service. I think people are put off taking their gun a for a service at all as they don’t know what happens and if it is even worth it. I have had my gun for two years now from brand new and would love to know if I should take it for a service but not knowing what goes on fills me with dread! Thanks!
Hello John; Being a native Hungarian I certainly enjoy your taste in music, that is if you select the background music. Of course I also very much appreciate the imparted very useful info. Cheers. Lajos
Fantastic review changed my mind I was going for a beretta silver pigeon for my first shooter. However after watching a few videos from TGS I will be purchasing the 525. Great content as aways.
After watching this video multiple times I finally bit the bulle... err... cartridge... and bought one on Saturday. Chopped in my 690 for it, cool configuration with an adjustable comb and trap forend. Basically a boring Ultra XS.. Yet to shoot it but feels fantastic in the hand and fits like a gun. Cheers for the in-depth review Jonny, helped massively!
Many years ago I was shooting International Skeet with a very good shooter. He had an early 325 that was brought in from Europe. His reason for going with that particular 325 was because on our side of the pond all 325's had the new at the time over bore barrels and he being someone that liked 32 inch barrels wanted something lighter. When he got the gun he sent the barrel set out to a shop and had the forcing cones lengthened and the bores taken out to .735 from .729 which changed the handling of the gun a fair amount to the better. Other Browning and Beretta guns by comparison were much more sluggish.
The comparison you did ten months ago between this and the sp1, towards the end you wouldn't pick one over the other... Well now we know fanboi haha. Good choice. Shame Australia never got the 686E Evo tho, beautiful looking gun. Cheers for all the great reviews, peace from Australia mate!
Afternoon... I have a miroku mk70 manual safety... Ive bought the bits to make it auto safety, but have no idea how to fit... could you advise please. Many thanks Andy
Wondeful review. Thumbs up. I got a question and hope somebody can help. Now, I fell pretty much in love with the 525 SL (Laminate) with the adjustable stock. I am a lefty. Will this stock fit a lefty or do I need a lefty version of the stock? Thanks in advance and cheers from Germany!
Im caught between a new one of these 30 inch sporter left handed . Or miroku mk38 sporter 30 inch . Which would you recommend . The 525 seems to be a bit cheaper
Had a 325. Changed to a 682 gold e. Couldn't get back to a Browning quick enough. Got a Browning ultra Xs now, probably have it till I finish shooting.
I have purchased a 525, and noticed when i remove the safety and give the gun a bit of a shake I have a rattle coming from the action. The rattle lessens with the safety on. It shoots absolutely fine, and had no problems with a couple hundred cartridges through it. Its a 525 Game (2015). Any Ideas?!
My old citori white lightening does the same thing and so does 2 of my buddy's with citori as well ...my guess is it's the inertia block ...from what I've seen it's pretty common so just shoot the he'll out of it and don't worry bout it.
Interesting, I've wondered for a while what all the hinged trapdoor-y bits were underneath, I'll have to ask someone for a closer look, but basically it's the linkage to re-cock the hammers/tumblers?
I know it's not the same as the 725 but this was was still a very informative video. I love the feel of the 725 and I'm pretty sure it'll be my next gun.
Nice review. Identical gun to my own, which I purchased used a few months ago. Any idea what would cause the forend on mine to be a little tight to remove?
Question what are your opinions of a Winchester Supreme Field ? Living in the States and its my first O/U wish I could check out your establishment. Enjoy the videos I have watched and your shooting videos. Do you sell the shirts you are wearing ? cheers mate keep up the good work.
Looking for my first shotty (for clays only, all disciplines) I've shot a little and prefer the Brownings over others. 525 or spend the extra on 725? Sporter or trap? Thanks
The 525 is my preferred out of the two, the who thing just feels better in the lover grades, The 725 is good in its higher end models, but they are big bucks! Personally the 525 sporter grade one or an older ultra xs trap would be my preference
Johnny can you please tell me if there is a trigger spring in the 525? My trigger isn’t responding and will be taking it to a gun smith - however really interested to see what I’ve done!!! It has an adjustable trigger as it is a 525 sporter one. I was adjusting the length of pull when something yay happened and it stopped working! Kind regards
@@tgsoutdoors no it’s not that - the inertia block is actually loose and looks like there should be a spring in the trigger itself (not the trigger pull) - is this something you have seen before a spring in the actual adjustable trigger?
It is removable. Just pulls straight up and out on earlier models, but may be threaded if not standard. Use small grips and be gentle, pull up and turn. They do snap off very easily, so be careful.
the triggers on my contento O/U 12G are rattly once its cocked tried looking up to see if this is the norm or will be ok to continue using cant find any good info on them any help is gratefully recieved
Hi guys, new to shooting so please bare with me, just brought a new 525 sporter, should I decide to shoot game with it at any point what cartridges can I shoot with my 525 that wont damage the gun, ie buckshot etc?
I bought a brand new 525 5 months ago. Only used it twice due to Covid 19 restrictions. It has fired 250-300 cartridges. Eley, 28gr 7.5s. Both firing pins are already pitted, bottom one worse than top. I am very disappointed. I picked the 525 over the 686 because the 525 fits me better but the issues with browning/mirouku firing pins is still here is 2020. Dont know what to do with it.
@@colindavies754 100% pitted. Very common issue. I've since been in my clubs gun room and had a look at a few second hand Brownings. I'd say 75% of them had pitted pins. I have shot mine loads since and it hasn't missed a beat dispite the pitting. It is certainly an issue with Brownings but thankfully from what I've been told, they rarely cause problems.
I could use some TGS help with my 525...having some misfires in the bottom barrel. The hammers are cocking but the trigger isn't biting for a few clicks every 3rd or 4th time I load...cycle the safety and it works...something to do with the inertia block? Replace safety spring thingy maybe? Trying to diy so I have it for the next shoot rather than leaving her with a gunsmith
I have a 525 sporting that has run through 10's of thousands of rounds, and found my did the same thing. I adverted the problem, albeit, only a short time, by shooting the top barrel first. But, only helped temporarily. Then, I changed the Hammer Springs, AND firing pins. The original hammer spring was almost 1/4" shorter than the new one. When changed, there was definitely a more "positive" sound dry firing. On the range, issue went away.
I have a 692 trap and I was shooting in the rain and when I was cleaning my gun it seems that some of the finish on the gun has rubbed off I was wondering if I could fix it myself
If you put some decent conditioning oil on there, it should come up looking like factory again. The factory finish is just a little thin and needs fairly intense maintenance

How relatable is this video to the older 425s? Cheers
Excellent review! Very classy piece of gear. Very nice camera work!
Please could you consider doing this for a 692, would be amazing and super useful.
It is in the plan, just takes a lot of energy to do one of these without messing up too much!
Miroku Browning you can't go wrong!
Solid as a rock
I pick up a new 525 at weekend there, awesome bit of kit , how easy is It to change the standard butpad to a 25mm but pad ?
Beretta 486 review please! Good choice on music btw.
the 525 as I understand is the same as the US "Citori" I think. Correct?
No it's not

What is the difference between this 525 and the Browning Citori Sporter? Do they use the ssame action?
Are these only available in Europe? They're listed as "Discontinued" on the Browning website in the USA.
I think they are sold to you as the Citori although I think your 625 is very similar to this just with slightly different stock/metal headwork.
Nice review. Identical gun to my own, which I purchased used a few months ago. Any idea what would cause the forend on mine to be a little tight to remove?
Daniel Hook the forend loop can be a little over sized. A light polish usually sorts That out

It is rather easy to fit the auto safety. Your local gunsmith could do it in half an hour.

Chris DeFabio only once ever. Needs replacing
