Lol!! The sparkles!!! Love it James!!! Epic to see the AT875R made the cut! I've been thinking about picking that mic up! Curious what your view is of the Deity S-Mic 2 and 3 and how it compares to the 416 and the AT875R...? Great video! Keep them up please!!
Great comparison. The choice was great... I use Lewitt mics are I absolutely adore them. If they weren't at the market I would buy sE T1. And I also appreciate what you said about these mics: it basically doesn't matter if VO actor uses NT1 or U87.
I just picked up a T2 thanks to your recommendation. However I noticed mine has a black SE label as opposed to yours with a Red one. Does it come in a different color or did I end up grabbing an earlier model? I wonder if there’s a difference.
I’ve been using the UA Sphere LX modeling mic and I have to say, it’s pretty great! The TLM 103 the MKH 416 mods are very similar to the originals. I would like to hear your thoughts on modeling microphones.
@@JamesYounger I gotcha, I highly recommend the Universal Audio Sphere LX, DLX, or the SC-1. But I’ve heard some good things about the Slate Digital VMS ML-1 too.
@@theghostof94 I used to work at a studio that had the slate digital but unfortunately never got to use it. I've heard good things about the UA Sphere though!
@@JamesYounger I don’t know if the Slate is capable of doing it but the Sphere lets you edit the mic models, change the polar patters, and adjust the proximity effect all in post. Really versatile tool for the price. It would be cool to see you do a breakdown and review on it if you get the chance! Cheers!
I would love If you tested out/reviewed the Rode NTG5, which is what I use and I think it is an alternative to the 416 at half the cost and a flatter sound which can be a benefit to some voices
That's definitely on my list. I used to use it a few years back and didn't like how my voice sounded on it but maybe my ears have changed now? Who knows. I'd love to get it in the fold though!
I started with the MXL 990 and absolutely loved it (would be curious to see your thoughts on that one). Picked up the AT875R and it picks me up....maybe too well? Still trying to find the right one for my voice, but this list makes me feel like I'm on the right path.
While I can't speak to the MXL 990 (I'm gonna have to buy it and try it out) I just got done writing a review for the sE Electronics X1 A and wooooow... Only $100 but might be my new favorite microphone. It sounds incredible.
@@JamesYounger YES!, yes it does! When you did the comparison in the video you did a year ago...I was SHOCKED to hear the 416 sound a tad bit muddier than the 875r!
A couple of mics to put on your radar, one VO pro to another. First, the United Studio Technologies Twin87, an 87ai style mic that delivers. I use it when I want to deliver my "NPR" voice 😊 Is it "as good"? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Not one of my clients has complained. For the second, Earthworks' ETHOS. I picked it up primarily for my own livestreaming and podcast activities, but that small diaphragm mic has become my promo workhorse. Who knew? Plus, it DOES look sharp on camera 😁
Hello, I'm trying to find a microphone for commentating/casting esports matches. Looking for something that will not peak easily at shouting/loud reactions and sounds professional. Any idea which one would be best? Thank you!
I'd highly recommend the sE Dynacaster. I did a full review of it on my channel :) It's a great dynamic mic that can handle high SPL (for shouting and all that)
I want to get my hands on one really bad and test it! lol hopefully one day in the near future! They seem to be an awesome company that makes great products!
Really great mic choices! I’m sure it will help many people in the process of building their studios.
Thank you sir!

Yo! Great suggestion! Now I gotta get my hands on the 2 & 3! I would love to put them up against those mics!

Thank you! And absolutely! There's too many people out there spreading the lie that you MUST have a super expensive mic!
Thanks to you, Getting the rode NT1 5 generation up to my audio game exponentially!
Can't go wrong with the NT1! :)
I own the TLM 103, the Sennheiser 416, and just got the Mojave 201FET and the Lauten Audio Clarion. Both are just awesome. Try them!!
100% agree about the RODE NT1 5th gen.

One of my goals is to get a mic modeler (not sure which one) and put it to the test! Unfortunately I have no first hand experience with them :(

Saw this and RAN to Amazon to pick up the Audio-Technica at875r line/gradient....and I already have a Sennheiser 416!

Sennheiser MKH 416. Clear winner for me.

What are your thoughts on the OC16 from Austrian Audio?

I love Shure SM7B, because my voice is thin.
Any experience with sennheiser mk4 before?
Unfortunately no :( but hopefully one day I can get my hands on one and test it out!
The 416 is The One.

Audio Technica BP40 👌🏻
Built my RUclips career with it 🌹
Check out the AT897. IMHO for my use case, better than the AT875R. Tom Buck also reviewed it.
