Over 500 miles in my velocity nitro 2. Although losing a bit of it’s bounce, the shoe is very light for a workhorse daily trainer, durable, and lasting grip for gravel. I don’t see a problem stretching out more miles in these shoes.
This is hands down my number one daily shoe!! I’m not a “high level record breaking time “ runner but I have done PR’s on my 5k and 10k runs in this shoe.
I'm almost to 600 miles on my first pair and still loving them. The Puma Grip is finally wearing down with the toe worn down to the foam and the forefoot pad having the lugs worn out but the grip is still there. I plan to buy a 2nd pair for my winter running unless the deviate 2 reviews better than the V2.
you could buy an identical 2nd pair just because the v1 is a great shoe, and a 3rd pair of the velocity WTR for your winter runs. It has a flexible, but water resistant upper and is much warmer on the feet. I like it. As the grip so great, i dont see any need for offroad or track shoes, the v1-WTR is the perfect outdoor allrounder.
@@arminwelker4297 my worry with the WTR is that it will be too warm. My body runs warm and I find many winter specific gear too insulated. I think the current Velocity V2 upper is perfect for winter. The warmth of the upper was my only complaint when using the shoe in the summer. I was happy with the Deviate as my winter shoe last year, but the thin upper was the reason I had to retire it when it started to separate from the sole at 425 miles.
I was checking alot of different shoes and I think I found better options for my use case. But you just can’t beat the price and value these bring at roughly 85€, so this is my new daily trainer
I've been running with Asics GT-2000 for the past 30+ years and on a whim decided to try Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 2 and oh wow, what a difference! I came to your channel and on your advice decided to order the Puma VN2 and Adizero SL. The best way to explain it as a tennis player is similar to going from playing with wooden racquets to carbon-fiber racquets. Thanks for the reviews!
Just ordered a pair of v2 from Amazon. I like the responsive feel of the Puma nitro supercritical foam. I have v1 and use it casually since it didn't supplant the daily trainers in my rotation, and only because I hadn't put the miles in to retire those shoes 😅
It sounds like Puma have hit this one out of the park. Creating a "do everything shoe" for all runners. From recreational runners to competitive runners looking for a "daily trainer". And they've also managed to keep the price "the same" as it was when it was introduced a few years ago. there really isn't anything more you could ask for....maybe putting this shoe into a "3 shoe rotation" e.g. this shoe as the "daily trainer" and add one "max cushion shoe" for recovery day ...followed by 1 "race shoe" if you compete in marathons. this shoe might be "the best value" on the market today...."...shoes don't make the runner....(training, proper diet, proper runnig form DO....)"...
I loved V1 but couldn’t get on with the V2. I found it too soft and unstable and yes the low cut upper didn’t suit my foot shape. Be happy if the third version of this shoe brings back elements on the first. Thanks Kofuzi for another well presented review. Ian 🇬🇧
For me still the benchmark for everyday trainers. Very comfy, not heavy, a very deep, consistent cushioning, you can pick up the pace in this thing if need be, PumaGrip is the best outsole rubber in the market at the moment, it beats quite a few much more expensive shoes (also the Deviate in my eyes). No-nonsense, yes, but that does not mean it is just a boring old daily trainer. If I was to pick one shoe from my huge selection to do it all, it would be this one.
I had the 1st version, and would like to try this one at some point too, because for my foot, the first version had the best fitting upper I tried :) one thing I'd say though is that the nitro foam came a little bit short in terms of durability compared to all the other shoes I tried...usually take all my shoes to about 630km, and the first velocity lasted a 100k less :) but that might be solved with the larger portion of that EVA foam :) Also feel like it's the perfect travel shoe, but shouldn't be the only shoe someone runs in :)
The v2 has some properties of the deviate: In the deviate you run on a platform of full surface EVA, which stiffness is even more increased by the innoplate. Then comes the nitro foam where your foot sinks in. Overall the deviate runs like on a railway, but unstable due to stack height in curves or casual use (dont do squats in it, you can hurt the ankle). The v2 is quite similar but lower stack height, no plate and thus more flexible and squishy than the deviate. In the v1 there is less EVA as lower layer, and more nitro foam (because same stack heigth and reduced EVA layer). So the v1 is somehow even more bouncy on the toes and midfoot, which i like most. The liberate is the pure nitro experience, bouncy as hell and quite direct to the ground. Its lower stack heigth compensates the instability of pure nitro.
I have been suffering from tendonitis in my achilles from wearing Topos for a few years but progressing to some pretty fast speeds. I need to change something at least for most of my easy and long runs. I was torn between these and the Bostons. The yellow and pink Nitros are super hot, though, so I am giving these a go first.
anytime there's supercritical foam involved, I generally would like to see 5-8mm more stack height, but I have a feeling (based on pure speculation) that Puma won't tinker too dramatically with this shoe from year to year
thx for all the information. i own v1 and v2 for running and every-day shoe. In the latter case the v2 is too much nitro and unstable, i miss the direct feel of the ground which the v1 transports into your feet. The look of the v2 is better and there are more stylish variations offered. v2 is also much warmer and a little bit roomier (u could go down 1/2 a size compared to v1), but just for running the v2 is fine (in between v1 and deviate1). In overall, for me the v1 is the better shoe so i just bought two more of them :) When u walk on asphalt or rough tiles all day, they wear off pretty fast. The profile of the sole disappears on the striking points and the compressed nitro destabilizes your foot which leads to overpronation (although the shoe still feels bouncy), i realized this after getting ankle problems in the worn down v1.
i should add that the worn down v1 withstood about 1000 km - 200 km of running and 800 km of walking around, stopping, turning etc (all day use). The upper still looks new, so it is high quality (sewings, glue, laces, ..)
May I ask you for a video subject? I was wondering on how do you plan your training. Do you have a personal coach, a training coach who follows your data, training plan from a watch/Stryd, a book,, etc.? I am confused on how the objectives are set for each training day. Also, I would like some cost comparison on various training plan choices. Saying that I would love a video for explaining your journey on different training plans formation.
@@kierlak I also reviewed it, so probably easier to watch it for my feelings. Currently enjoy running in the zoom fly 3, tempo next %, 361 flame and the Saucony pro 2. When I can afford with completely transition over to Saucony
i tried the magnify, it doesnt supply you with a lot of cusion. Also the retailer said, the amount of nitro is minimal in the magnify, you mainly walk on high stacked, stiff EVA. If you want more cushion and detachment from the ground, the v2 is ideal. I would not recommend the deviate because it's a too different fit (lose in the heel, tight at the midfoot and toes, sizing 1/2 too small so you should go up in a deviate). If your v1 seems a little bit long or big, you definitly should go down 1/2 a size in the v2. It is much wider and longer than the v1.
Thanks for the review. I’m running since six months at a average pace of 5:30/km, distances of 5-10 km. I have Puma Velocity Nitro 2 and Pegasus 39. What next shoes could you recommend to me? I have a wider rather than narrower foot. I mean shoes from a slightly higher price range, thank you.

My Achilles tendon got really stressed, going to do most running in Pegs 39 now. My weight: 74kg, I run on tarmac all the time. I prefer Mach 4 over Peg 39 just little bit, smoother transition and bit lighter but Peg 39 is so versatile, 100 miles is nothing for it, it's just warming up so to speak, very durable, stable ride although classic feel.
