Just ran my first marathon in these (black colourway 🔥) beautiful experience underfoot. Quite stable for a super shoe as well. Helped me hit my goal of under 4hrs (3:58:12) 🎉 🏃♂️
@@MyKillyy I just used it for a 5k a few weeks ago...was awesome for that as well. Hit a PB and won the race (not much for competition, won with a time of 21:22)
Whoa! How nice of Mr. Fuzi to drop a much-waited shoe review in the midst of the busy marathon season. And kudos for having the honesty to come out and say you prefer the previous iteration. Both are on my wish list. Going strictly by aesthetics, I prefer the iridescent lace guards on the EP3.
Great review! I also definitely prefer the 3, except for the tongue as it was always a bit of a pain putting them on because the tongue was too short. I wasn't really able to articulate what I preferred about the feel of running in the 3 over the 4, but I think you nailed it with the comment on how the 4 just seems to dissipate the energy instead of return it like the 3 does. That said, I haven't run a full marathon in these yet, so maybe the relative "smoothness" of the run may work out better for the legs over that longer distance.
Loved the review (as usual). The EP3 has a big place in my heart as I broke 3 hours for the first time in them last year at the Gold Coast marathon here in Australia. I’ve found the upper to be fragile (I end up with holes above my big toe) and a little unstable if running slower in them but overall great bang for your buck. Your thoughts on the EP4 are great and the extra stability has me excited to try it in the future. As you say it’s a great time to be a runner with so many different shoes that are great in their own way. Keep up the good work.
Did you try it? A fellow runner from Australia. Just ran the gold cost marathon last month in my superblast. Looking for a carbon plated for my next race!
I felt the same way. No pop and no wow factor but setting PBs in nearly all runs, namely the recent NYC Half. I’ll take that trade off any day. Thanks for the differing view Kofuzi!
Great review as usual many thanks. I ran with these at London and when i started bonking at 30KM these didn't help and seemed to die with me. With the PRO3s at Berlin i found them to be a much better companion when i started to fade. Still a good shoe but i won't be buying a second pair that's for sure.
I have run 5K-Half in the Pro 3. I haven’t run in the Pro 4, but I saw them in person upon release. I agree, I didn’t see a huge difference. Glad Saucony kept the price the same. I’ll stick with my Pro 3s (and STILL have my Pro 2s) for the time being!
I think the key to the pro 4 is the speed roll. I land mid foot so really feel that speedroll as I'm landing and then pushing off. The plate is quite a stiff one so if you load it you will get that propulsive feeling. I find it actually gets better the faster you run. I did a 21 mile long run and was quite surprised it still felt very cushioned on tired legs. Which with only 32mm in forefoot is quite something when I usually run superblast or prime x v2. Will be my marathon shoe in 3 weeks time
@why8 I was really pleased with them. Comfort as good as any shoe imo. The only real negative is the white colour that is hard to clean. Other than that I can't find any faults. If you get on with an 8mm drop then definitely worth buying.
I absolutely love this shoe. I just ran my HM best in this shoe. I think for a relatively new runner it is a great first plated shoe rather than going straight for the Asics metaspeed. But I love the colorway. In Switzerland I only got the white and just ran a rainy, muddy HM so you can imagine what it looks like. FYI you guys are lucky with the price, here they retail at 270 CHF (285 USD)
Yeah some retailers (online and LRS) have dropped the EP3 price down significantly since the EP4 came out, which is great. I have three pairs of the Pro 3 now, and two of them have
Couldn't agree more with all your comments regarding the lack of pop and the bulbus outsole compared to the Pro 3. Thank you for your honest and constructive reviews. I've caught myself a few times on the outsole, and the elongated fit does not feel as snug which is what I look for in a speed shoe. I also prefer the upper on the Pro 3, feels more elevated for that price point and shoe type. I have been consistently using the Endorphin Pro 3 and Speed 3 in my marathon training rotation, and love Saucony so I warmly welcomed the speed 4 as an update but I will be reverting to the Pro 3 and snagging some on sale for my speed sessions. I use the Elite for race day.
Interesting how different it is for you-I feel like the 4 with the HG layer gives far more energy return for me than the 3 did and carries speed a lot easier over distance. Doctors of Running had a similar breakdown where the reviewers had very different experiences. Maybe owing to footstrike/weight of the runner.
I've liked the pro 3 very much. Ive had the Pro 4 since its introduction. It just doesn't feel as energetic as the V3. I've done 10x1k, 22 mile slow and 7m @ mp. I am 200 lb mid to forefoot striker. 8 min/mile MP. It just feels dead. For the record, I like and ran the Amsterdam Marathon in the Endorphin Elite this past fall.
I love the color you got! The carbon plate in my Kinvara Pros snapped after only 38 miles & I was able to exchange, so I upgraded to the Endorphin Pro 4. So far so good!
Really a great video and totally on point. I like the Pro4 a lot... but I expected more, well maybe not more, something different. It has not that supershoe feeling what I want in a race. But for that it is super durable! 300km in and I barely see anyway wear and tear.
I compared the Pro 4 last week against the Metaspeed Paris and chose the Pro 4. I ran the Pro and Pro 3 for years and the subtle changes in the 4 are for the better I think. Slightly softer and wider in the forefoot, more stable and grippy ride, and a much better tongue. The Paris is a much more radical redesign compared to the Sky+, and it somehow fills the midfoot with something that feels like arch support but isn't. It felt just pretty alien to me. Though I liked the shape and fit of the Paris to the foot a lot.
very interesting. if you enjoyed both endorphin pro 1 and endorphin pro 4, do you think your preferences changed over the years? I didn't personally think the endorphin pro 1 or 2 were comfortable past the half marathon distance.
I've been loving this shoe. There are better racing options, both from Saucony and others. But this is my all time favourite uptempo trainer. The upper is plush for a shoe of this type, the ride feels stable and asks much less of me than other plated shoes, and unlike many other supershoes it remains pleasant at slower speeds which is nice for fartleks etc. Will probably stock up on some more pairs when my current one wears out.
I returned mine to get the Endorphin Elite, no ragrets! The Elite is responding well for me. Both the Pro 3 and Elite offer more comfortable uppers and more responsive midsoles. The Pro 3 is still a good buy.
I did not get along with the Pro 3 but the Pro 4 is amazing for me comfortable, cushioned, stable and ready to go out of the box no break in needed. I just swapped out the laces they are much too long and stretchy. I ran a half M in them and felt like I could easily keep going.
Love your reviews and I've been waiting for this to drop! Ran my sub 3 in the original Endorphin Pros and have been in the market to replace them. Been going back and forth between the 3s and the 4s and I'm totally torn! I've heard great things about both
Fantastic work! I've been looking forward to your thoughts on this. I ran Chicago 2022 and NYC 2023 in the EP3 and Boston 2024 in the EP4. I agree they are extremely similar, but I slightly prefer the 4 because a) the roomier toe-box (no toenail issues after the Boston downhills! Yes!), and b) the longer tongue. I think I was the target market for that tongue--I had issues with the tongue on two pairs of EP3s sliding down below the top level of laces and leading to some lace bite.
Thank for the great review. I am glad I bought the Pro 3 on sale based on your recommendations . It is going to be my HM shoe this year. And I hope this was the last time I was number 666 like 😅
I was wondering about the 4's I love the Pro 3's and performed well in them. I think if I can find version 3 for cheaper its the better option. Thank you for the review!
Great review as always, Mike. Would love it if you could do more shoe comparisons as they would help a lot in making buying decisions, something like Endorphin Speed 4 vs. Pro 4?
I haven't tried the Pro 4s yet, but the Speed 4 are definitely longer than the last version and I had to go a half-size down. They definitely fixed the toungue in my opinion, wasn't a fan of either toungues in the 3s or the long laces.
Everyone has been saying this is a newbie friendly super shoe, and I was looking forward to it but unfortunately the heel fit me weird. I felt like I was stepping on the edge of the heel insole every step - quite disappointing and wound up returning them 😢
Ok so I love the 3's and I want the 4's as well. Was waiting on your review of these and I agree with you Ko. What a time we live in where there are subtle details we're noticing (or trying to notice) with these shoes. I'll still pick up a pair for sure, but if I find the 3's on sale.... I may pick up one more, you know, just incase hah.
Great review. I absolutely love running in this shoe! With that being said I would love to run in something “more responsive” as you say. Alternatives, rotation and honesty. Love your videos.
Been waiting to hear your take on the Pro 4! The Pro 3 has been my race shoe in the last two years and it's served me really well. Think I'll give it some more time before retiring it to a training shoe. I'm really curious about the ASICS Metaspeed series for my next race shoe. Wondering how it'd compare to Saucony.
You do a great job of reviewing shoes. But, could you add a segment on the overall durability. How long will the sole last. If you primarily do walking in a shoe that you are reviewing. I like collecting shoes and I mostly do just walking. Thank you
It seems like the running technique has changed a bit. The point of initial touch of the ground dhas shifted slightly to the center of the foot, compared to how it was before. Is it the sneaker influence?
Why is the Pro 3 still $225? The 4 has been out for 2.5 months at this point. Do you think this could be a trend where the older generation is not immediately reduced in price? Or does this tell us something about the 4?
I think it says more about the 3 than it says anything else. athough that being said, in the time between when I filmed the talking portion of the video and when I edited it, there was a price reduction.
Most of the running shoes I’ve warn recently have had a lower drop. I’m wondering if 8mm might be a nice change as I’ve almost forgot what a slightly higher drop feels like. P.s. please bring the purple colourway to the UK.
Actually been thinking about what the HG stands for, and I’ve come up with so many combinations but none of them makes sense. But “holy grail” though???
it's not something i would make up, so i had to have gotten that from somewhere. i feel like it was from a Saucony "making of" type of video. i'll try and find the link
I absolutely loved my Speed 3's. Got the pro 4's and after 30 miles returned them for a half size bigger. I got terrible hot spots on the pads of my otter feet. Tried the larger size and the same thing. What the hell did Saucony do to the Speeds? Non of my other Sauconys give me hot spots.
@@kofuzi Im sad because I love all my Saucony shoes. Pro 2's, Pro 3's, Triumph's. If noticed if I keep the speed 4's around 9 minute miles or slower I don't have any problems but if I run 8's or faster i get the hot spots
@kofuzi Still trying to decide between the Pro 4 and the Meta Speed Sky Paris for the next HM on June 2. I need more testing in the Meta Speed. Based on my experience with the Saucony Pro 3 I think the Pro 4 is a safe choice.
both shoes are great. but when we have to many great racing options out there, the best shoe for a person is going to depend a lot on that person's preferences. for me, i recently chose the Metaspeed Sky Paris for my last marathon and I loved it.
Kind of. It had a very different shape of carbon compared to carbon used in a racing product. The Kinvara Pro is more of a daily trainer, imo. It’s very confusing why they call it Pro. ruclips.net/video/758R1pimUV0/видео.htmlsi=CFLmVLvaqBqe5AE6
So I 'm new to running/jogging (just like 3 or 4 Km a day atm) and I was wondering how long can you expect those type of shoes to last. 1- If you use it only when doing the runs 2- If you use them for every day use as well?? Or should I not do that?? And if so what shoe do you use for normal taking long walk shoes (give me a saucony example so I can relate...) ** I did see the end of the video but did not quite understand what he meant...
you could use them for everyday use, but it'd be akin to using a Ferrari to get groceries. you're not using the product for it's intended use case, and it's not the most practical tool for the job. it's also a very expensive way to do a routine task. daily trainer Saucony shoes that fit the use case you describe include: Ride Guide (if you need stability) Triumph (a bit more cushion) but ultimately, it's your money and your feet. if the Endorphin Pro 4 feel comfortable to you for walking around, as well as every day running, then go for it!
I don't know who "they" is, so I don't know how to respond to that part of your question. I went with my usual running shoe size and that was correct for me.
@kofuzi: Endorphin Pro 3 (currently available at USD 200 in India) or Endorphin Pro 4 (currently available at USD 230 in India)? I am a slow runner - mid/rear foot striker. I am looking for a marathon distance shoe.
As someone who just got into running this year, the Endorphin Pro 4 is perfect as my first carbon-plated shoe. It is a smooth and comfy ride. The only issue I have is that the outsole is not as grippy when it comes to wet/damp surface. But overall, I'm still enjoying every run when I'm using it.
So I was a huge fan of the Pro 3 but you suggested Tyr as a good substitute. Are you concerned about their durability? Because my pro 3s lasted 350 miles and did everything from easy runs to racing
I have no concerns, but I also don’t expect 350 miles from a racing shoe. Further, I think that, given the state of foam technology, the demand for more durable racing shoes has resulted in a lot of racing shoes that are not as good as they could have been
Just bought the Endorphin Pro 3's for $140 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼. I still bought the Pro 4's just to test them out and compare since i can return either of them when i make my decision. So far I've run more miles in the Pro 3's and i think i enjoy them more as well. Feeling the plate on toe off is something I've never felt before and i really like it. It almost feels like the equivalent of training wheels for someone like me who hasn't used carbon plated shoes before.
the elite was quite different from the pro when it first came out and it continues to be quite different now. the foams are quite different (even with the inclusion of some PWRRUN HG in the Pro), and the geometries are quite different. I personally prefer the Elite over the Pro, but as I mentioned in the video, it's a great time to be a runner because there are so many options that are all in the excellent category. and the way to choose one over the other is going to depend not on the specs of the shoe but on the preferences of the runner. if you'd like more thoughts from me on the elite, here's a couple videos i've made ruclips.net/video/gXewI8wBADo/видео.htmlsi=bkOWBdgDJTh3vg2l ruclips.net/video/xK6B5nb1igk/видео.htmlsi=iD7jEneIKP_-IVc5
I think Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 is too expensive. They should price it at 160 €, but instead they are priced at 180-200 € which is not far from Endorphin Pro 3. I payed 200 € for Pro 3 and I am patiently waiting for Speed 4 to drop in price to get a pair.
I’m pretty sure I pulled that as a quote from a Saucony video. I’ll try and find my source and link it. If you have a source for yours, I’d love to see it.

@@kofuzi no I’m not questioning whether it’s legit or not, it just seems a little outrageous 🤣
I had the inverse problem. I had a difficult time running in the 3
@@kofuzi Im sad because I love all my Saucony shoes. Pro 2's, Pro 3's, Triumph's. If noticed if I keep the speed 4's around 9 minute miles or slower I don't have any problems but if I run 8's or faster i get the hot spots
I was hope the Pro 4 was faster than the Pro 3. Now I'm wondering if its a slower shoe.
for some, the 4 will be the faster shoe. for me, i'm not sure it is.
@kofuzi Still trying to decide between the Pro 4 and the Meta Speed Sky Paris for the next HM on June 2. I need more testing in the Meta Speed. Based on my experience with the Saucony Pro 3 I think the Pro 4 is a safe choice.
Hi, thanks for the great review! What would you recommend for a marathon between the Pro 4 and Sky Paris? Thanks!
both shoes are great. but when we have to many great racing options out there, the best shoe for a person is going to depend a lot on that person's preferences.
for me, i recently chose the Metaspeed Sky Paris for my last marathon and I loved it.
I see. Thank you very much for the quick and kind reply!
Are these for mid foot strikers? I read somewhere it's for heel strikers?
Does the Kinvara Pro have a carbon plate? What is the difference between Kinvara Pro and Endorphin Pro 4
Kind of. It had a very different shape of carbon compared to carbon used in a racing product.
The Kinvara Pro is more of a daily trainer, imo. It’s very confusing why they call it Pro.

So I 'm new to running/jogging (just like 3 or 4 Km a day atm) and I was wondering how long can you expect those type of shoes to last.
1- If you use it only when doing the runs
2- If you use them for every day use as well?? Or should I not do that?? And if so what shoe do you use for normal taking long walk shoes (give me a saucony example so I can relate...)
** I did see the end of the video but did not quite understand what he meant...
you could use them for everyday use, but it'd be akin to using a Ferrari to get groceries. you're not using the product for it's intended use case, and it's not the most practical tool for the job. it's also a very expensive way to do a routine task.
daily trainer Saucony shoes that fit the use case you describe include:
Ride
Guide (if you need stability)
Triumph (a bit more cushion)
but ultimately, it's your money and your feet. if the Endorphin Pro 4 feel comfortable to you for walking around, as well as every day running, then go for it!
Can this be used for daily running for pkush shoes requurement as well?? Specially if we have problems like plantar fasctitis
i'm afraid i don't know what a pkush shoes requirement is. i cannot answer this question
The say this is a long shoe, I normally wear size 8 US Mens on the NB4 and SB, should I go with the same size or half size down with these
I don't know who "they" is, so I don't know how to respond to that part of your question.
Hi just wondering with the disclosure that you are saying, I haven’t seen any NIKE on your reviews 😊
I don’t understand this question. The second half of the sentence feels like a non sequitur to the first half
Pro 4s vs AlphaFly 3?
Can’t find pro 3 new in uk anymore
sorry to hear that
As someone who just got into running this year, the Endorphin Pro 4 is perfect as my first carbon-plated shoe. It is a smooth and comfy ride. The only issue I have is that the outsole is not as grippy when it comes to wet/damp surface. But overall, I'm still enjoying every run when I'm using it.
Outsole is the weak point of all Saucony shoes.
Further, I think that, given the state of foam technology, the demand for more durable racing shoes has resulted in a lot of racing shoes that are not as good as they could have been
It suitable for slow runner wear for full marathon?
yes
Good shoe for half marathon but killed my feet for full marathon. Just not enough cushion
Bought pro 3 for approx usd111 after discount. Pro 4 can wait..
Nice
Just bought the Endorphin Pro 3's for $140 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼. I still bought the Pro 4's just to test them out and compare since i can return either of them when i make my decision. So far I've run more miles in the Pro 3's and i think i enjoy them more as well. Feeling the plate on toe off is something I've never felt before and i really like it. It almost feels like the equivalent of training wheels for someone like me who hasn't used carbon plated shoes before.
Some says it's better to bought this shoes rather than the Endorphin Speed 4 as your speed - race trainer. Does it true?
the Endorphin Speed is intended to be the tempo shoe or training companion to the Endorphin Pro. I'm not sure if that answers your question
what about the elite vs pro 4?
the elite was quite different from the pro when it first came out and it continues to be quite different now. the foams are quite different (even with the inclusion of some PWRRUN HG in the Pro), and the geometries are quite different.
I personally prefer the Elite over the Pro, but as I mentioned in the video, it's a great time to be a runner because there are so many options that are all in the excellent category. and the way to choose one over the other is going to depend not on the specs of the shoe but on the preferences of the runner.
if you'd like more thoughts from me on the elite, here's a couple videos i've made

How does it compare to the SC Elite 4?
I don't find them to have similar rides. otherwise, I would have put them in the alternatives category.

Which is a better shoe...Saucony EP3/4. vs Asics Superblast?
Tried both speed 4 and pro 4 in store, toe box very narrow. Definitely not for anyone with any form of bunions
which shoes did you end up choosing instead?
Could someone recommend shoes for 5/10km and half marathon races? My weight is 91 kg, I have a wide foot, my running pace is ~4.0/4.10 😁

a lot of it is going to depend on what you're looking for in a shoe, and knowing what you like in a daily trainer can help you answer that question

@@kofuzi I using now novablast 3 LE 😁
I think Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 is too expensive. They should price it at 160 €, but instead they are priced at 180-200 € which is not far from Endorphin Pro 3. I payed 200 € for Pro 3 and I am patiently waiting for Speed 4 to drop in price to get a pair.
Yo, what’s going on!!
So crazy. They’re all sold out lol every color too. Should’ve just bought them on release
The purple color remind me of sasuke susanoo😂
It must be one of the ugliest shoes ever produced omg… saucony shoes are hard to look at anyhow… but this takes the price. Great review as always!
I got it, I don't like it.
The EP3 is still one of my favorites shoes ever.
i know what you mean
Orange > purple
I thought HG stands for high-grade, lol
HG = High Grade
I’m pretty sure I pulled that as a quote from a Saucony video. I’ll try and find my source and link it.
If you have a source for yours, I’d love to see it.

Pro 3s are better and can get $75 cheaper 😨
Better for some, not for others. It depends on your preference.
get them if you can. I keep hearing that people are having a hard time finding their sizes

@@justoutlaw6423 You right I just got the 4s in today and uhhh I kinda like them a lot actually 😂😂
Why did it take so long to do a review? I was waiting for your take on the Pro 4 but it came out over 2 months ago on Feb 29...
imagine being upset because the dude actually put in the miles in the shoe over a decent amount of time
dude ran the london marathon, international travel and prep is gonna take time lmao
@@notvkn Haha not quite, more that I was looking on his opinion on if the shoe was worth buying before I picked it up. And zi follow Kofuzi on Strava and he runs 80-100k/week and has only put 60k into the Pro 4 (all research you could have done yourself). I get Kofuzi doesn't get Shoes sent to him by Saucony but neither do I, and I had the shoe by March 8.
He's been traveling a lot the past two months. Do you not watch his other videos?
