Getting 4 $1 items for $5 isn't a deal. Mcdoubles used to be $1 and a big mac was like 2.75. Prices are still insane and I hope people don't buy into this.
If you buy these items individually with the app where I live, the total comes out to $10.16 before tax so it technically is a deal compared to what you’d normally pay. You’re harkening back to the before-time, the long-long ago.
Listen squalids...the move is use the $3 medium french fry deal, buy a "Buy 1, get 1 for $1 (I do mcdouble and 4pc nugget) then provide your own drink. Now you have more food for less cost.

hey reviewbrah just wanted to stop by and say that even though you disliked pizza hut's cheeseburger melt and you said that it's better off forgotten, your video still inspired me to want to try it for myself and i actually really enjoyed it. it was very cheesy and the flavor of the beef and ham on it was surprisingly good quality
you can get a Large drink with the $5/$6 deal btw(Here in SoCal, the McDouble option is $6 but the McChicken options are $5). If you use the app or the self service machine in McDonalds, once you select the meal deal you can select your drink. Go to "fountain drink" then whatever drink you want, then you can choose the size. It is AUTOMATICALLY pre-selected as a small drink. Pair this with the app deals (I paired it with a free Medium fries coupon I had on the app I believe for the Angels winning a game, states may vary) and its a pretty solid deal. I personally dont think its a particularly FILLING meal, but the app can sometimes offset it with the free options it can open up at times.
This is called “anchoring” by the way. Each of these items used to be a dollar on the dollar menu. Anchoring is raising the price to something until people are no longer willing to buy, and then coming down just a bit to seem somewhat more reasonable, but the perception of reasonable is to the new high price, and you forget that this a 66% increase because the $5 meal you got previously cost $3. Honestly it doesn’t make sense to not eat clean nowadays. Fast food places are costing what healthy tasty alternatives do. I agree. I can get a whole rotisserie chicken from my grocery store for $5. BTW I had a McDee's hamburger 2 years ago and it didn't even taste like beef. My dog wouldn't even eat it.

If you can dedicate an hour or two and make a big enough batch, you can reduce your prep time enough that it takes longer to go through Carl's Jr that to eat a high protein, high fiber, clean meal!
Not everyone know how to cook and can afford an expensive kitchen to cook in... Fast food is for the working people who don't have time and need to get food within their lunch hour close to where they work- away from home... Not everyone is a housewife who has all the time in the world to shop at grocery stores and cook all day in the kitchen for their families... Just not a luxury everyone can afford these days especially with inflation that way it's going up now a days, then!
Each of these items were individually on the dollar menu just a few years ago, and even just a few years ago _any size drink_ was a dollar. This meal is simply just a price increase packaged like as a deal. It's not particularly worth it, but if you are craving McDonald's, it's probably the cheapest thing you can get.
None of these items except the McChicken have been $1 since the pick 2 for $2 deal in 2016, and not individually for $1 since the dollar menu ended in 2013. That's 8-11 years ago. Just need to let you know how stupid you and everyone else in these comments sound when you think that was a few years ago, unable to think past your own nostalgia and 'what it feels like'. If anyone is curious on the app you change the drink to a large just go to more drinks and you’ll get the option to get a large drink. The app is always your best bet to getting the most out of McDonald’s
A good friend of my wife's owns several McDonald's in the Waukesha Wisconsin area. I asked him about this $5 deal. He said enjoy it while it lasts, says it probably won't be around very long.

I got the $5 meal at my local McD's. I was surprised they honored the price. Same boring menu of course, but the McDouble was hot, the nuggets crispy, the fries fresh, and the Coke ice cold.

Mine has buy one get one for a dollar. I get 2 mcchickens and 2 mcdoubles and a large sprite for under 10. That used to be only 5 bucks cause everything used to be $1 but it is what it is.
I heard some McDonalds were charging you for the bag the food comes in. Some will charge you for the condiments if you want them. And some of them will charge you a higher price for the deal if you get a McDouble instead of a McChicken. Because the McDouble costs $1 more.
mcdonalds you could also just pull a massive move and just lower your prices to what the food is actually worth and people would be willing to go there more because nothing has changed the co workers, the food, the quality. Except the price, in fact it probably has gotten worse in quality if anything since the 90s.
Do you not know that inflation is an increase in the money supply and causes prices to go up? The federal reserve keeps printing billions of dollars and we give it away to nonsense and that’s why your fast food is expensive. Not because of a greedy CEO.

I don’t think it has anything to do with consumers complaining on the prices because I still see lines at fast food drive-thru windows. I think companies just planned to gouge for a set amount of time.
Saddest part is the consumers in those lines will still complain, but will still eat the increased pricing due to the fact they either can't or won't cook when finished with their long hours worth jobs due to exhaustion/ not having enough time to rest and cook before going back to work. Here a 6 piece nugget and a mcdouble are 2 for 3.99. Add a $1.29 drink and the 1.29 any size fry deal and for an extra ~$1.60 you get a large drink a large fry and 2 extra nuggets.
With the APP i get dollar. Large fries or free fries, and Mc doubkes are buy orlne get one for a dollar. So for 6 bucks i get two burgers, fries and a drink.
Yeah. That small drink is a total rip off. ANY soft drink is $1.29. They should allow you to pick any size drink. At other places I pay the 20 cents to make the drink a large.
I think the $5 meal price is standard across the board, but I think it won't be available everywhere. Wendy's has had this style meal available for years. 4 for $4 meals and Biggie bag meals.

I'd say just the straight up deals, Mcdonalds is better. But I will give Wendy's credit for allowing the choice of frosty(which I'm not a fan of) I use their app and I change the fries to large and the drink to medium, and it comes to $5.85. I think that is the best deal.
That's if you _have_ a Wendy's where you live... nearest one to us is not within practical travel distance. What our town seems to specialize in is Mexican food rather than burgers. At least three (perhaps more) different choices, not counting a Taco Bell, which we also have. The burger places we have are McD's, Burger King, Chili's, Applebee's, and two local places, one of which I have not been able to try yet because I can't drive and no delivery place covers it, as far as I know.

Arby's needs to bring back the 5 for $5 and include the small jalapeno bites and small mozzarella sticks in that price, if not a bit more. The food is great but expensive.
My friend and I to Del Taco a few days ago here in the west coast and their newer items were all around $7 to $9. We ordered off the $2 menu which were 2 small tacos, 2 tostadas, a bean n' cheese burrito. Then we did the 2 for $7 and got a spicy chicken burrito and a classic grilled chicken burrito. Our total was about $16 and some change. If we'd order their featured item it would have cost over $20.
It is a scam! No where actually sells it for 5, almost every place sells it for at least 5.50 if not 7, it's a scam to get you to drive to the restaurant and spend money anyway.
This is just a psychological trick, this same meal was $3 two years ago. That is a huge and unconscionable price increase, stop buying food from places ripping you off!
Do a video about McDs getting rid of drink stations. That means you get even less value if you eat there. You can go to the counter for a refill, but you have to wait and I think you can really only do that once.
be careful on the McDs quality being the same. I on occasion get a steak egg and cheese breakfast bagel from them. I got two a few weeks ago and the price was lower to my shock. Last week I repeated and on both bagels the first few bites were all egg cheese and bagel. They had very obviously shrunk the steak "patty" size where it barely covered 2/3 of the bagel. The taste was also marginal for the steak plus one of them had a significant piece of gristle. Oh well I can always make my own which I have been doing more and more.

$5 is honestly a steal with all that. I love the McDonald’s app so i can build points and get free food sometimes. The deals aren’t bad as well. A little tip: get two McDoubles, it’s a buy one get one for $1, then use your points for something free or use a coupon code of your liking, and boom you get a full meal around under $7

I don't know where you're at but here the cheapest Taco Bell meal is the vegetarian build your own combo and its a diollar more than the Mcdonalds meal.
This is essentially their version of Wendy's Biggie Bags, which used to be $5 and $6. Now, the Biggie Bags are $8 and $9. The only difference between the two is the fries; Wendy's has Medium Fries, while McDonald's has Small Fries.
I used to get 3 McDoubles for $3 and go to the supermarket for my beverage (in a 24 oz can😉) back in 2014. Give me 3 McDoubles for $5, and I'll come back to McD's.
Yes, "the price is not justifiable". Today I cooked beef stew. I bought almost all the main ingredients (beef, potatoes, onion, tomatoes) on sale. The few items not on sale (carrots, garlic, salt and other seasonings, butter, flour, vinegar) were a negligible cost; perhaps $4. For approximately $25 USD I cooked enough delicious beef stew for at least eight generous servings; i.e., ~$3 per serving. Yes, by the time I finish eating the stew I will be looking forward to eating something else but the value to price ratio is immensely larger than any anything from a "fast food" restaurant like McDonalds.
If McDonald's is looking for a great idea, I would suggest announcing a limited time "throw-back" where they ditch the all veggie deep fry oil for the beef lard enhanced oil they used to use. The fries back then were simply awesome! I bet people would come in droves just to get a taste of what used to be!
Many people slam McDonald’s food. However, there are a lot of people struggling out there and you have to credit them for trying to fill a void. There was a time when I could only afford 50 cent cheeseburgers and a cup of water from McDonald’s.
Hardee’s now has a $5.99 meal to compete as well. You get more food than the $5 meals. You get 2 double cheeseburgers, small fries and 20 oz drink. All the $5 meals offer a small order of chicken nuggets to go with the burger or sandwich. Hardee’s double cheeseburger is bigger than any of the primary sandwiches offered in the other meals too.
I just got 1 of each the other day! It was under $11 and it fed me and my 2 kids. Dont judge me 😂 I felt like I was back in 2019 and it was a good feeling.
That is 100% worth it! $5 can barely get you a drink a Starbucks now days, so $5 for 3 different food items and a drink is good. This is basically what Wendy's had in their 4 for $4. I used to get that 4 for $4, then it was the $5 biggie bag, and then it went up to $8 and now they don't even offer it anymore. This new $5 meal deal will be the only fast food item I buy from now on until other establishments can compete
Realistically for $5 they could have done 2 of these sandwiches and gave option of 6 nuggets or a Large fry and not lose any money, probably get a lot of sales too. Given several McDonald’s around me that giving away medium fries with any purchase and $3.50 for 2 doubles I think it’s completely doable for $5. 6 nuggets are in same reward points bracket as much cheaper items which tells me the real cost matches those cheaper items…. Probably get away with 10 nuggets. Honestly the drink can be optional if the amount of food is seemingly good. Doesn’t need to be a classic meal… we’re all just looking for a good deal and that’s probably a better way of marking the times is a bag of food instead of a classic meal.

McDonald’s can have my ideas for free because I don’t care. I’d rather a good deal if they’re even paying attention.. Here’s another thing at $3.50 for a pair of McDoubles, or McChickens too; that’s $1.75 a sandwich to you from the restaurant. They can totally bring back a dollar menu if they wanted too… I mean, we all know how cheap the drinks really are we all know how ridiculously overpriced french fries are. I think that’s pretty good proof of it because they’re internal costs are gonna be a lot lower than that and I’m sure adjustment’s internally can be made to further accommodate, again if they really wanted to.
@@UrHumanShield because they’re costs are tremendously high the average franchise only makes $150000 a year. Corporate makes all the money. Franchise have to pay a tremendous amount of fees to corporate. They have to lease the property from corporate. They have to give 4% of their profit to corporate and there’s all the other cost involved in operating. Just like Wendy’s doesn’t make anything on the four and five dollar meals. There’s more than just the Food cost them more now. There is the straw and the drink cup. The paper that burger is wrapped in, fry box and labor cost. It all ads up.
They do not ever include what WE want in these meals - only what THEY want to give us. Just give me a big Mac at a discounted price for a change is what I want. Not chicken nuggets or a chicken sandwich.😢
Because they are buying commodities and then taking advantage of downmarket pricing on them to make these deals, that's why only certain areas are actually charging 5, those areas have the commodities at a low enough level to support it, places like hawaii are just nope. Market forces dictate McDonalds priicing and everyone assumes it's just lol they charge 5 dollars, no there is a ton of research into these prices.
The McDouble was at fair amount larger than what you get with this now. The burger you get with this deal is tiny. If McDonald’s fries were edible this would still be a decent deal for the franchise.
I have figured out a way to get more food from McDonald’s for roughly the same price as the $5 Meal Deals, depending on taxes. I’ve tested it out multiple times in the app and it’s worked for me. Your mileage may vary. I’ve ordered from the $1 $2 $3 menu and received two McDoubles: one for full price and a second for $1. Then, in the “Deals” section, there was an offer for free fries (any size) with a $2 minimum order. Finally, my local McDonald’s has a “happy hour” deal for drinks ordered between 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The drinks are $1 for any size. Grand total in my area: $5.35, taxes included.
But is the "deal" only if you order on the app? Seems like McDonald's runs a lot of deals that are "available on app only". Not everyone wants to clutter up their devices with a hundred different apps or waste time with clicking on this, that and the other when you can simply tell the employee at the counter what you want. Also app ordering is taking away jobs. If a company is going to create a deal, make the deal available for everyone no matter their preferred method of ordering.

Got dragged to McD the other day after years and tried one of the their "premium" chicken sandwiches. Horrible. Cafeteria quality at best.

If anyone is curious on the app you change the drink to a large just go to more drinks and you’ll get the option to get a large drink. The app is always your best bet to getting the most out of McDonald’s

I got the $5 meal at my local McD's. I was surprised they honored the price. Same boring menu of course, but the McDouble was hot, the nuggets crispy, the fries fresh, and the Coke ice cold.
So you get 4 items, all of which are worth no more than $1, and the price is $5... I'll be continuing to skip on Mcdon's.

I heard some McDonalds were charging you for the bag the food comes in. Some will charge you for the condiments if you want them. And some of them will charge you a higher price for the deal if you get a McDouble instead of a McChicken. Because the McDouble costs $1 more.
mcdonalds you could also just pull a massive move and just lower your prices to what the food is actually worth and people would be willing to go there more because nothing has changed the co workers, the food, the quality. Except the price, in fact it probably has gotten worse in quality if anything since the 90s.

I don’t think it has anything to do with consumers complaining on the prices because I still see lines at fast food drive-thru windows. I think companies just planned to gouge for a set amount of time.
Saddest part is the consumers in those lines will still complain, but will still eat the increased pricing due to the fact they either can't or won't cook when finished with their long hours worth jobs due to exhaustion/ not having enough time to rest and cook before going back to work. Economy is at it's worst right now with inflation plus the corporations wanting to take advantage of the working majority.

Here a 6 piece nugget and a mcdouble are 2 for 3.99. Add a $1.29 drink and the 1.29 any size fry deal and for an extra ~$1.60 you get a large drink a large fry and 2 extra nuggets.
With the APP i get dollar. Large fries or free fries, and Mc doubkes are buy orlne get one for a dollar. So for 6 bucks i get two burgers, fries and a drink.

I'd say just the straight up deals, Mcdonalds is better. But I will give Wendy's credit for allowing the choice of frosty(which I'm not a fan of) I use their app and I change the fries to large and the drink to medium, and it comes to $5.85. I think that is the best deal.

That's if you _have_ a Wendy's where you live... nearest one to us is not within practical travel distance. What our town seems to specialize in is Mexican food rather than burgers. At least three (perhaps more) different choices, not counting a Taco Bell, which we also have. The burger places we have are McD's, Burger King, Chili's, Applebee's, and two local places, one of which I have not been able to try yet because I can't drive and no delivery place covers it, as far as I know.

They basically turned their "buy one get one for a dollar" deal into a meal with a small soda and small fries for a slight upcharge.
Arby's needs to bring back the 5 for $5 and include the small jalapeno bites and small mozzarella sticks in that price, if not a bit more. The food is great but expensive.

My friend and I to Del Taco a few days ago here in the west coast and their newer items were all around $7 to $9. We ordered off the $2 menu which were 2 small tacos, 2 tostadas, a bean n' cheese burrito. Then we did the 2 for $7 and got a spicy chicken burrito and a classic grilled chicken burrito. Our total was about $16 and some change. If we'd order their featured item it would have cost over $20.

Do a video about McDs getting rid of drink stations. That means you get even less value if you eat there. You can go to the counter for a refill, but you have to wait and I think you can really only do that once.
be careful on the McDs quality being the same. I on occasion get a steak egg and cheese breakfast bagel from them. I got two a few weeks ago and the price was lower to my shock. Last week I repeated and on both bagels the first few bites were all egg cheese and bagel. They had very obviously shrunk the steak "patty" size where it barely covered 2/3 of the bagel. The taste was also marginal for the steak plus one of them had a significant piece of gristle. Oh well I can always make my own which I have been doing more and more.

$5 is honestly a steal with all that. I love the McDonald’s app so i can build points and get free food sometimes. The deals aren’t bad as well. A little tip: get two McDoubles, it’s a buy one get one for $1, then use your points for something free or use a coupon code of your liking, and boom you get a full meal around under $7

Yes, "the price is not justifiable". Today I cooked beef stew. I bought almost all the main ingredients (beef, potatoes, onion, tomatoes) on sale. The few items not on sale (carrots, garlic, salt and other seasonings, butter, flour, vinegar) were a negligible cost; perhaps $4. For approximately $25 USD I cooked enough delicious beef stew for at least eight generous servings; i.e., ~$3 per serving. Yes, by the time I finish eating the stew I will be looking forward to eating something else but the value to price ratio is immensely larger than any anything from a "fast food" restaurant like McDonalds.

If McDonald's is looking for a great idea, I would suggest announcing a limited time "throw-back" where they ditch the all veggie deep fry oil for the beef lard enhanced oil they used to use. Many people slam McDonald’s food. However, there are a lot of people struggling out there and you have to credit them for trying to fill a void. There was a time when I could only afford 50 cent cheeseburgers and a cup of water from McDonald’s.

Hardee’s now has a $5.99 meal to compete as well. You get more food than the $5 meals. You get 2 double cheeseburgers, small fries and 20 oz drink. All the $5 meals offer a small order of chicken nuggets to go with the burger or sandwich. Hardee’s double cheeseburger is bigger than any of the primary sandwiches offered in the other meals too.
I just got 1 of each the other day! It was under $11 and it fed me and my 2 kids. Dont judge me 😂

Exactly they say it's a $5 meal but in most places they're charging $6 plus tax and in other cases $13 which is just crazy.
That is 100% worth it! $5 can barely get you a drink a Starbucks now days, so $5 for 3 different food items and a drink is good. This is basically what Wendy's had in their 4 for $4. I used to get that 4 for $4, then it was the $5 biggie bag, and then it went up to $8 and now they don't even offer it anymore. This new $5 meal deal will be the only fast food item I buy from now on until other establishments can compete
Realistically for $5 they could have done 2 of these sandwiches and gave option of 6 nuggets or a Large fry and not lose any money, probably get a lot of sales too. Given several McDonald’s around me that giving away medium fries with any purchase and $3.50 for 2 doubles I think it’s completely doable for $5. 6 nuggets are in same reward points bracket as much cheaper items which tells me the real cost matches those cheaper items…. Probably get away with 10 nuggets.
Honestly the drink can be optional if the amount of food is seemingly good. Doesn’t need to be a classic meal… we’re all just looking for a good deal and that’s probably a better way of marking the times is a bag of food instead of a classic meal.

Here’s another thing at $3.50 for a pair of McDoubles, or McChickens too; that’s $1.75 a sandwich to you from the restaurant. They can totally bring back a dollar menu if they wanted too… I mean, we all know how cheap the drinks really are we all know how ridiculously overpriced french fries are. I think that’s pretty good proof of it because they’re internal costs are gonna be a lot lower than that and I’m sure adjustment’s internally can be made to further accommodate, again if they really wanted to.

Franchise have to pay a tremendous amount of fees to corporate. They have to lease the property from corporate. They have to give 4% of their profit to corporate and there’s all the other cost involved in operating. Just like Wendy’s doesn’t make anything on the four and five dollar meals. There’s more than just the Food cost them more now. There is the straw and the drink cup. The paper that burger is wrapped in, fry box and labor cost. It all ads up.
They do not ever include what WE want in these meals - only what THEY want to give us. Just give me a big Mac at a discounted price for a change is what I want. Not chicken nuggets or a chicken sandwich.😢
Because they are buying commodities and then taking advantage of downmarket pricing on them to make these deals, that's why only certain areas are actually charging 5, those areas have the commodities at a low enough level to support it, places like hawaii are just nope. Market forces dictate McDonalds priicing and everyone assumes it's just lol they charge 5 dollars, no there is a ton of research into these prices.

I have figured out a way to get more food from McDonald’s for roughly the same price as the $5 Meal Deals, depending on taxes. I’ve tested it out multiple times in the app and it’s worked for me. Your mileage may vary.
I’ve ordered from the $1 $2 $3 menu and received two McDoubles: one for full price and a second for $1. Then, in the “Deals” section, there was an offer for free fries (any size) with a $2 minimum order. Finally, my local McDonald’s has a “happy hour” deal for drinks ordered between 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The drinks are $1 for any size. Grand total in my area: $5.35, taxes included.
In my area, drinks are always $1. Which is super considering a drink from Taco Bell, Arby's or Wendy's is around $3-4.
You can also get buy one get one for a dollar and get water. Two small fries, McDouble, 4 piece nuggets. About 6 dollars.

But is the "deal" only if you order on the app? Seems like McDonald's runs a lot of deals that are "available on app only". Not everyone wants to clutter up their devices with a hundred different apps or waste time with clicking on this, that and the other when you can simply tell the employee at the counter what you want. Also app ordering is taking away jobs. If a company is going to create a deal, make the deal available for everyone no matter their preferred method of ordering.
