- Val fancied a McDonalds breakfast so I convinced her we would both also enjoy another visit to the nearby Station on this last day of the WSR's Spring Steam Gala. And we did! Locos seen are GWR 7812 Erlestoke Manor, 9466 Pannier Tank, 9351 Mogul, and 2999 Lady of Legend. The final double header is made up of the Pannier Tank and Lady of Legend.
Thank you for a super video. A wish I was there moment. Loved every second
That's good to hear Martin.
Loved the video
Thank u both for your great input 😀👍
We enjoyed doing it!
Always a pleasure to see your videos of steam locos. Thanks for #sharing.
Thanks Brian.
Wasn't able to be there for the gala so thanks for the great coverage of the event 👍🏻
Thank you and I am glad you enjoyed it.
Superb. Thank you for sharing the three days with us!!!
Its been a busy but fun time!
Mike, great footage at 7:03 of one loco in steam and two more in the sidings. Could have been in the 1950s save for different clothing!
Very enjoyable set of videos. Must confess I missed all the action was away at a family event.. great to see some of it
I am glad to have been able to preserve some of the event on video.
9466 is a resident engine.
Erlestoke Manor is staying to the end of the season.
I found this out at BL on Saturday
Thanks for the info Peter.
Another great video Mike and I hope you can take it easy a bit now. I enjoyed my trip on Saturday and it was great to see Taw Valley which reminded me of my younger days.
I grew up beside the Southern Railway and was always impressed by those fine machines.
We were allowed on the footplate of Taw Valley at BL and it has steam operated firebox doors
@@peterhalse8531 That's a shame as I was not aware of that and it's something I would have taken up.
@@peterhalse8531 That's interesting.
Thank you Mike, so sad to see empty carriages, and a shortage of coal, hopefully they may just scrap by through this summer, Clive
By what I hear some railway preservation centres are having a much worse balance of payments situation. That's sad to hear.
The first two Mike shot departing looked poorly patronised, but when I used this railway on my trip from Oz last year, much of the passenger traffic originated at Bishops Lydeard and these were early morning trains. The third one doubleheaded by 2999 and 9466 looked far better patronised as it had earlier arrived from BL.
Nice shots Mike. I had to work today so missed the fun !
That's a shame!
This was great 👍.... you have captured the atmosphere of the Gala really well...
I was alarmed when I heard that there is a coal shortage 🥹.... is this an ongoing thing from now on or was it due to not ordering enough coal for the extra locos ?
Its very sad when the Government forced the closure of the last UK coal mine that would have fed all the steam railway centres form years with no problem.
Enjoying the steam gala from 3,500 miles away in Maryland, USA. I have noticed that there is some rust along the top of 9466's pannier tanks. You would think they would get rid of this before it gets any worse and starts rusting through.
I didn't notice that. Generally I thought that loco looked in fine condition.
Another brilliant Video but a shame passenger numbers were low again it’s going to be a tough season for all including us at the Bodmin Heritage Railway
Yes, lets hope for better times to come. Did you manage to get up to the model railway exhibition?
