As a Māori I’ll always have respect for the Aborigines, one thing a lot of people don’t realise is that the Aborigines to first land on Australia came from one of the earliest batch of humans to leave Africa. They had also settled in Australia 10-20 thousand years before humans had set foot in Europe.

When the Maori players are coming out 1x1 they are announcing their Tribe & where they're from. It's a standard & Important practice for MAORI everywhere we go. Even if giving a speech at a workplace or sometimes Gatherings etc...

The weapon the Maori swing is a taiaha, the broad end was use to crack your skull and the pointed end to disembowel you. In WWI and WWII Maori soldiers found when you were out of ammunition you could use the British .303 Lee Enfield rifle with bayonet fitted in exactly the same way. My grandfather was a sergeant in the Maori Battalion in WWII.

needless to say what symbolism the inference is to.

They legit have Haka/Warcry coaches. All the Oceana mob do it. The best ones are Samoa (Siva Tau) vs Tonga (Sipi Tau). Proper grudge match between warrior nations that used to eat each other. Legendary stuff.

The object's used in the indigenous war cry are called the Nulla Nulla (Tradition aboriginal war club.)which varied in somewhat different forms/shape's depending on if was to be used in ceremonie, conflict or hunting yet all were very similar.
This indigenous all star game was played in NZ for the first time since it's conception and although I found this year's Australian indigenous war cry to be very underwhelming unlike the Moari' (Which i thought outdone the indigenous all stars war cry wise.)it was still a great and close game being the Australian indigenous All stars scraping their way to being the victor's in a very close affair 28-24.

The indigenous Population of Australia consists of well over 200 languages, dialects and cultural practices in which once all interacted through trade & dance with bordering clans, tribes, Nations and other pacific islands. While the unity dance specifically was made and has been varied post-European Colonisation. Due to the affects of colonisation a lot of these practices and languages are just being revived.

When it comes to the Haka in sports than it's the very much more than likely that the captain of the team that is given leadership of the Haka.Hence them being the Kapa Haka.
Kapa meaning rank or row of your position of the Haka which also dictates your chants and moves performed throughout the dance.
