You are one fine teacher of guitar Tony. I'm 73 and started teaching myself guitar 1 year ago. I subscribed 6 or 8 months ago. I love your videos. They have helped me. Thank you.
Goodonya Gary. I'm 75 and started playing guitar 7 years ago and also enjoy Tony's style of teaching. Onwards & Upwards!
Thank you Derek@@bluzikmusic
Thank you so much man! That made my day :)
Never too late to start, good going!
Thank you Tony, I definitely enjoy the way you present the material. You show the chords and explain the notes on the fret board, and make it easier to understand. Keep the lessons coming. Thank you for your time. Peace
Thanks so much man! Really appreciate that!
Great information, sometimes, we, I, forget to see the simplicity of the fret board until its pointed out to us. Thanks!!
Thanks great lesson
Thanks Tony, I've been looking for this, great lesson.
Excellent little lesson. Thankyou
Vary clear buildup of simple moves that sound great. I'm off to experiment. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant, thank you so much, real clear easy to follow lesson, much appreciated Tony👍🎸
Thanks for the lesson, cheers!
My pleasure! Thanks man
Thanks for that, Tony!
Great advice, and really well presented. Nice!
As Tony says, kewl! Thanks Tony!
Tony, Tony, Tony, your lessons are very cool and lovely to listen to, thank you 😀👍
Pretty! Thanks!
Can’t go wrong with a G,C,D progression! Nice lesson.
Another great lesson Tony cheers
Cool little lesson, Tony. Subscribed 👍
I was at a friend's house not long ago. We've both been playing for many (5+) decades with probably 40 or more guitars between us. He asked me to show him something I said I'd been working on. I couldn't play a f'n note!! Completely locked up. Talk about embarrassment!! I can play fine in front of other people but I get a serious case of the yips when in front of him. It bothers the shit out of me!
I react the same in those situations so testify brother.
It’s like being stoned almost 😂 I know the exact feeling you speak of!
From north wales.
66 now,bought, sold,Picked up, put down, gave
away, been given!
Guitars forever some high end some not, electric
and acoustic.
My two sons both play in rock bands for decades
Nightmare for me separate bands same night.
Different venues me unpaid roadie!
They growing up would pick guitars up, and you can guess the rest!
Me, I’ve always struggled with it, working shifts, other projects.
The only guitar I have is an Admira classical concentrated on playing
that.
Got to play small classical pieces on it over the years, I like
Steve Hackett and Anthony Philips.
But have to admit I’m in a rut,but know these pieces WELL!
Anyway a very good mate of mine who I don’t see to
often came around a few months back.
We both are into the same stuff he doesn’t play, he
knows my musical involvement with my lads
and with guitars e.t.c.
So he pointed to my classical guitar and said
Is that the only one you have these days.
And I said yes it is,he said go on play a piece
I’ve heard through the grapevine, no pun
intended, that you can play some nice pieces.
So I picked the guitar up, sat down and
FROZE!
KEPT ME AWAKE!
I told my lads, I got some stick I can tell you!
And the wife said the times I’ve heard you play
the same pieces, I can’t believe it!
Sorry about the ramble, but your post really
Got to my inner core, in the meantime my wife
Sent my mate a video of me playing, he phoned to say
Oh you can play a little then.
Take care.
It’s funny how the mind works 😂 hope you get over that my friend 🤘
@@GuitarME
Got over it by buying a baritone ukele.
Deeper sound than the others D.G.B.E.
Like a guitar.
Four strings all over it in no time!
Makes you look better than you are, which
does for me!
Love it!! You make me want to pick up my acoustic all the time now 🤘
That’s awesome!
Nice lesson. It's definitely something you could mess around with. Simple as well. Thanks tony
Glad you like it!
Thanks!
Wow thank you so much!
Thanks for that
Brilliant lesson! Just recently found your channel and subscribed! You really help make it easy - thanks so much Tony!
Thanks so much man! Glad to have you here my friend
Good info
always nice to learn something new, thank you and for the humor too
Wow, thanks for your nice words! My pleasure! 😀🎸
Reminds me of Blackbird from the Beatles!
Thanks 🙏😊
Cool. Now I'll just need to pop into my local guitar shop and buy my 16th guitar 😂
nice ^^ thx a lot men
You’re very welcome :)
Good stuff Tony!
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks, man!
Now that’s a brilliant lesson 💯👍
Wow! Thanks! Glad you liked it. 😃
Nice one Tony may I make a suggestion
would it be possible for you to play through the example a couple of times at the beginning of your lessons just so we can get a feel for the music
I play by ear so can pick up a lot by hearing the music so like many of us when you begin the break down we can follow more easily and also it’s good ear training as a bonus
Thank you for the advice
0:16 "...because, obviously, sixteen is not enough..." 😆
This dude has helped me so much. He’s really good at explaining relatively simple things that make your playing sound way more advanced than it is. I’m pretty bad still, but he’s made me sound decent by adding a few simple things. 🙏🙌🙏
Thanks, man! It's wonderful to hear that I have a positive impact on your musical journey! Keep practicing man! 😀🎸
Thank you so much for your lessons! They are very enjoyable and instructive. The intro to this one totally cracked me up... Been there (not) done that... I live in terror and longing of guitar shops although I can play in front of other people without any problem. Go figure!
You are very welcome my friend! Thanks for
The comment :) delighted I can help
You rock! Plain and simple. Great approach and lead in...Loved your intro to why beginner players can justify that 17th guitar!!
Thanks, man! Rock on! 🔥🔥🔥
is that a hd 35???? thank you!!!
Paul Davids has a very good video on these chords..shell chords I think he calls them. Very easy lesson from him and it sounds so beautiful ✌️
I love Paul David’s, learned a lot from him too
I only heard about Shell Chords last week. They are similar to triads, but with the root, third, and seventh tones. I believe these that Tony is playing would be called Double Stops.
Thankyou man
Happy to help, man! Thank you
I play paganini practice at half speed but sub harmonics when ever possible. Then i blister a panotonic scale chromaticly up the neck, finish with feed back bent into the root. Then i power cord a scorpion lick like hurricane or, or launch a srv riff..
Loving your little tips, I’m off to a Guitar shop now 🤣
Wow, that's great man! Thank you and I hope you enjoy! Watch for more lessons :)
Thanks It was a cool lesson. 😎
Cool, Thanks! 😃
Nice!
Hello Tony!! Michigan usa tuning in today! Is that a D-28 you played in the demo? I saw another Martin in the stand too!!! Long time player here, and when I go into a music store and pick up that Martin D-28 or Taylor, I play some Greg Lake songs, heavy in the Apeggios styles Greg was famous for for. That does it very time. lol Thanks for sharing, see you on the next one. Robert
i was just about to write how similar it was to blackbird
then you also said it lol great tutorial as always tony
Simple but effective.
I own 7 guitars but I can only play like 4 songs lol
Blackbird
Why did you make the first 30 seconds of this video so incredibly directed at me?
😂😂😂
So funny and true.
You asked us to let you know if we like your lesson. Well, you got my like and my sub. Fun stuff...thanks
Aw, thank you so much for the like and sub! I'm all about making learning fun, so I'm glad you found it enjoyable. And keep having fun with all the lessons!
0:30 - 0:50 - It’s like you know me!
😂😂😂
I'm past 17, I think ... Still trying to learn.
I’m sitting there totally frozen barely able to voice a Gm while the guy a few yards away is shredding like Buckethead .
Been there my friend! 😂
That happened to me a few months back, when I was trying an amp. Some kid on the other side of the shop was throwing out G'n'R and Led Zepp riffs and my fingers just wouldn't work at all.😂
Dropping a line
W0W!
when they have a sign that’s says: “no stairway” 🤠
Ouch. That hit too close to home😂. Have you been following me?
Fcuk… I love this guy‼️
Just subscribed after 1 video. Never done that before😊
Blink 182 i miss you guitar lesson please . I want to lean this song so bad . I have not found a good lesson for this song
Yeah okay
Lmao hahahahaha YESSSSSS omg that's so me
sounds a bit like. blackbird
Exactly what I thought too!
Yep yep
5:30 definitely blackbird
Right up my alley...lol...way more guitars than skill
Thanx, appreciate your efforts but must listen twice sometimes to understand your brogue
and I'm not referring to your shoes 🙂
Hahahaha 🏴
Use the CC button.
I liked this lesson! I'm a girl 😮 and a piano player and have performance anxiety and feel like I'm attracting attention anyway as one of the only females in the guitar center who isn't rolling their eyes at their Dad/boyfriend/brother so....yes this was helpful and I like your non-judgmental approach to the guitar as well
Thanks a lot! I'm thrilled you liked the lesson!
Nice to have explained the chord progtession of a major scale but I dont think anyones going to be impressed in the guitar shop.
Really....
I never froze at a guitar shop, but I pull a few fast ones on salesmen if I saw them trying to take advantage of beginning players. When they came to me, I would pretend to be a newbie, and play an intentionally botched version of Smoke On The Water, which would convince them I knew nothing about playing guitar. When the salesman would try to sell me a highly over-priced guitar that is far beyond the needs of any beginner, I would ask if I could play it, then I would play an electric version of Mozart's Magic Flute - Queen of the Night Aria. _Shuts them up every time..._
People who work in a guitar store are the coolest? Certainly not in my neck of the woods! They just look at you consescendingly with one eyebrow raised in a "really???" sort of way. Then again I think to myself screw you pal I have a real job with a real salary and I can afford a guitar you can only dream of and if you were half as good as you think you are you would be up there with John Mayer and the liles.
The peeps at the GC in Omaha NE were lovely though. 👍👍👍
Most people guitar shopping are so bad though if you can bang out some campfire stuff and a riff or two you sound OK 😂
Affecting a Scottish accent may help too for fear of a Glsgow kiss 😆
😂😂😂 maybe it’s a Scottish thing
How many guitars does a guitar player need???
..... One more !!!
Put that guitar on your other leg man ffs 😅
buddy, can you spare a Yamaha?
If you own more than 5 guitars and still can't play well, here's a hint for you: you're not a guitar player, you're a guitar collector. Its not a bad thing, its just the truth. Admit it to yourself, you're Guitarted
lol so true. That’s me. I have five guitars and can play but not good enough to need five guitars And I really only use my acoustic and one electric
You may have a point on some level, but you've basically got a nasty personality.
Good luck with that throughout your life.
You won't get a better personality but the guitar player will always get better at playing his guitar.
It's called GAS. Gear Acquisition Syndrome.
But everyone knows, when you hit a plateau, the only way to get over it is to buy a new guitar 😉
I have four and cant play crap after 12 years of practicing.
Are you in my Brain? ;-)
Nice, but so much scratching and squeaking when you shift. Maybe try different strings?
String squeak can be tamed by lifting the fingers completely off the strings before moving them to a different fret. Alternatively, the player can tilt the fingers and reduce the pressure while sliding to the new fret.
New strings have a tendency to squeak more regardless. I hear it in recordings from professional studios. Focus on his message & try to prevent it on your on, it's tough to completely eliminate it all together.
You forgot diminished at the end there
Because bad players believe the secret is ALL IN THE GEAR!
