      Ah yes, I apologize. As an American, the only metric units I'm familiar with are meters... I don't have any real world relation or reference to kilos or liters. I do agree they make far more sense but I'm stuck with imperial XD

      @@Lonelywolfofficial true. I noticed that in some videos (I am new subscriber so I have seen most of them in last two weeks) you say that 10 pounds is the same as 20kg and in another video that 10 pounds is the same as 5kg. I think that it is no big dead because most of us can google it or some of us might even know the correct lbs:kg ratio.

    I find it to be time efficient if you can cook and do chores on the side like harvesting rabbits or tearing up cloth in the building or inventory. or bust up some chairs or make tinder from paper. if you cook large meat like bear, moose or deer, you can go out and collect sticks as well due to long cooking time.

      It's so powerful now. Hauling in a bear kill from the front stoop and you can cook it all up in a huge roast fest. That's going to be the huge boon to this new cooking; it won't take a full 3-day stint just to process your bear anymore.

    How much longer does cooked meat last than raw? Should you be cautious of how much meat to have so it doesn’t go to waste? If so how much?

    • @Lonelywolfofficial
      @Lonelywolfofficial  5 лет назад +4

      Yes, you should be cautious about it, especially in the higher difficulties. You can cook what you need for a few days and leave the rest lying in the snow outside, or in an outdoor container like a car's trunk. Cooked food decays four times slower than raw.

      That is a question I have, I killed a bear not too long ago, and left the bear meat on the pleasant valley homestead porch, which I thought it consider outside. But it only takes one day for raw meat to go from 88 to 63 percent.
      So does that mean raw meat spoil faster even though it's outside?

    How do you make the rose hip drink?

    • @Lonelywolfofficial
      @Lonelywolfofficial  6 лет назад +2

      You need to prepare it first! It didn't use to be this way, but now you need to go into your inventory, open up the crafting menu, and under hand-made craftables, there's an option for prepared rose hips. It takes about 15 minutes to do. Once you've done that, you can cook them up at any fire provided you have a can or a pot to do it in. Hope this helps!

    The new update sucks. It's great if you want a cooking game. Not so much a survival game. Not only does it take forever to cook anything now, you also run the risk of being attacked while harvesting a carcass where you didn't before. Lose a 200- 300 day save because of a crappy, untested game mechanic and you won't think this update is that great. Trust me, if you play now it will almost certainly happen since you can't move a carcass to a safe area and the animals are moving at real time while you're stuck in the harvest menu. There's not even a notice of an attack. Just BAM and it's over. That's just poor untested crap and hopefully they will fix these issues soon.

    • @Lonelywolfofficial
      @Lonelywolfofficial  6 лет назад +6

      I have actually tested this near animals since the update. It's never been "safe" to openly harvest. I've only ever harvested with a roaring fire, and do check to make sure I'm nowhere near a bear's patrol path. While I do think they need to change how animals function in accelerated time, it's no less or more risky than before.
      It's also not wise to harvest everything in one go. Better to take it in manageable chunks to reduce risks of predators and weather.
      I do understand not everyone will always like how things change. Your mileage will vary. The good thing is that this is a first pass at the new system and they're taking feedback into consideration for adjustments in the future.

    • @johnforbes3364
      @johnforbes3364 6 лет назад +1

      It has always been safe to harvest because time stopped when you were in the harvest menu. You could see the animals standing still in the background when you used sleep. It was being exploited after an animal was shot to keep the animal from running off. Now they move. Starting a fire was always dangerous(until started unless it's a Bear) but harvesting was relatively safe. There's a few people on the Steam forum who have also been caught out with this change. People with far more experience than me. In as little as 50mins harvesting in some cases. Mine was a 2 guts and the hide of a deer (little over an hour harvet time) and it was over thanks to a bear. That's a game breaking feature for me since there was zero warning.

    • @Lonelywolfofficial
      @Lonelywolfofficial  6 лет назад +6

      That's not entirely true. Before the update, I've had several moments where I've been nearly assaulted by wolves, or have been while harvesting. The animals in your line of sight never moved much, if at all, but those outside of it still did, albeit much more slowly. I do agree with you, however, that this change has brought about a new 'bug' or 'feature' that severely punishes the player for something completely out of their control, and that's not in fitting with the rest of the game or how it plays. I feel like Hinterland does need to consider the fact that any other choice that gets you into a bad predicament is usually your own: Hunting a bear gone wrong, exploring a new area with wild abandon and getting caught out by a wolf, or freezing in a blizzard. Things you experienced and had ample time to react to in real time. Being stuck in a menu while harvesting and getting mauled for it is indeed cheap.
      I do not concur however that the new way of cooking is bad. As I mentioned in the video, its now a tradeoff on how you cook. Small batch or single item cooking has been severely penalized, but large batch cooking with multiple fires or on a large stove has been massively improved. You can process an entire bear in a day's time now, rather than over the course of several. It is a give and take, and it's going to take some getting used to. I'm not entirely pleased with how some things have turned out but it is a first-pass and I'll leave my feedback with Hinterland so they can adjust as needed.

      @dragonknight1297 4 года назад +3

      why would that be bad? its actually better, more realistic - why wouldn't an animal attack, if opportunity arises, while you are harvesting?

    They ruined the game. I am literally watching water boil.

    • @Lonelywolfofficial
      @Lonelywolfofficial  6 лет назад +6

      It was a bit of give and take in their decision to change cooking. They've also tuned the times down recently as well. Previously, you just sat in a menu in accelerated time and couldn't do anything else while your food cooked or water boiled, and half the day went by. Now, you can take the time to set up your food or multiple fires or use a stove, and do something else like read a book or repair your clothes while your food cooks. The other powerful portion of it is doing multiple batches at the same time. You can get your water going on two campfires and make a gallon of water in about a 1/4 of the time it took originally.
      So yes, while now you have to sit and watch it happen, you are also freeing up the time to do something else while it cooks, and can cook MORE of it in one sitting compared to the previous method. Obviously, not everyone will agree on the implementation, and not everyone will be happy with it. But it does undoubtedly allow you to do more, with the one caveat you can't accelerate through it like before unless you choose to do so by clicking on the cooking item and pressing the space bar to accelerate it till it's cooked.

      You can do other thing while it boils. A can of snow takes about 25 min to boil, it's great to do chores like preparing reshi shroom or rose hip pieces that takes you 15 min to do or harvest rabbits while you boil water.
