    A pair of blue striped pipefish or Jans's pipefish would be beautiful and peaceful, and they are good enough swimmers to handle the amount of water flow you have. They are great for the shallow lagoon/tidal feel you're creating. Also some T. crocea clams would be beautiful and not outgrow the depth of your tank.
    As far as using water clarifier, your filter feeders might appreciate if you left the algae and detritus floating around a bit longer. Tunicates and sponges can process an incredible amount of water for their size and I think they would probably do a fine job of cleaning up the water on their own. Same goes for the filter floss in the surface skimmer, most of your filter feeders will appreciate the microorganisms in the biofilm as it gets introduced into the water.
    I'm loving this paludarium and am so excited to follow along as it matures. Your previous shallow 40 was one of my favorites, too. Much love from Texas!

    aren't you worried the mangrove trees are going to do their thing and grow? there's always the terrifying chance they'll grow in that small space and crack the glass. i would worry about waking up one morning a few years down the line to find that $30k+ tank exploded on the floor. it's years away but things like that can sneak up on you!! please be careful, that would be heartbreaking! also, how are you sure none of them will jump? especially if there's a little bit of infighting or a small turf war between two fish. they can jump right out if they're startled or agitated for even a split second and don't know what to do with themselves. it's horrible to have happen, especially overnight

    The aquarium is certainly missing some action. Maybe you need to add some fish. I like to recommend red or purple Firefish, Chromis, and Damselfish (though some species can be aggressive, but Azure and Talbots are peaceful and will look great in your aquarium). It would also be nice to see the symbiotic relationship between shrimp and Goby fish.

      @DannysAquariums  Месяц назад +2

      Why is that wild? 👀🙃

    • @Fish-de5yj
      @Fish-de5yj Месяц назад +3

      @ With a sump, you get several advantages that make managing a large system like yours much easier and more efficient. First, it increases the overall water volume, which helps stabilize water parameters and keeps the tank ecosystem healthier. You also gain more space for biological filtration, which is essential for supporting the bio-load in a large reef setup. Additionally, a sump provides an area to add equipment like protein skimmers, heaters, and reactors without cluttering the main display, so it keeps the tank looking cleaner.
      I noticed you’re using one of those tiny surface skimmers, I’ve used the same one, and it gets annoying to constantly clean. Plus, it’s not very efficient over time. With water draining down into a sump, the system handles skimming for you, and you won’t have to keep changing out filter floss. You could just throw a filter sock at where the water enters the sump to catch it all or just let it flow through.
      In my setup, I have about 600 gallons in tanks draining into a 150-gallon tub with live rock and a return pump. This added volume and biological filtration have made a huge difference in stability and ease of maintenance. The sump really simplifies everything and helps prevent issues down the road.
