Sounds like you were in Mac D’s. The grease is horrid. They used to collect it in big blue barrels…..commonly known amongst staff as “the barrel of death”. You can’t get rid of the smell once it’s in your clothes. I admire you for what you do. Thanks dude.

I remember when I worked at Mcdonald's as a kid. Grease-blocked drains happened all the time because people were too lazy to wipe the grease off things or pour the catchers out into the grease drums rather than dumping them down the drain. The smell of the grease traps was.....something else
I work 2 jobs one as a full on dishwasher and one as a multi position but my fry cook job that dish grease trap stunk and even the filter at my dishwasher job isn't that bad but I can recall not being desensitized to it I can understand how bad it is.
Don't they recommend mixing in detergents or other soaps for that kinda draining?
Smells like a drunk person breath not only that they probably clogged their house too
Drain cleaning, like nursing, is a job I don't want to do, but I'm glad others have the dedication.
The owner called 2 others first? If you start with the best you can forget the rest.

As someone who works in a kitchen and has to deal with drains, this felt like a look into my world, Bruce. I personally dislike drains like these seen in the video, especially the ones with the baskets! But you know what’s worse than a drain with a basket? A drain that just doesn’t exist! There’s a drain spot by my feet next to the dishwasher sink that leads to no pipes, all it does is collect standing water and dead food, and it infuriates me to think about how the money my GM put into the place went down the nonexistent drain!
I remember having to deal with a soap scum buildup in one of our drains. I was given a drain snake, told to go ham, and I eventually broke through! Flowing like a river it was, and I gotta say Bruce, I wish you were there to see it. It was satisfying and makes me consider leaving the kitchen to join your field. But my time on this earth is still long, so I am hoping I get to join the drain cleaning team in the most literal sense of the word later on.
Note: after this was made, our restaurant got a new drain installed in that mentioned nonexistent spot. Much happier now, I am

back in the late 80"s &90"s ran a food shop. when the guys came to clear a drain my crew had to clean the mess. every time. so to honor you when the sun's over the yardarm i will raise a glass to you. stay well

the plumber that installed that metal filter/trap sure knew what he was doing. Looks like the owner of that place didnt know how to lift the cover up and check the trap and clean it causing the back up. Looks like a new shopping center too.
I have no idea exactly where in the center its located but that center is Westfield Whitford City and its far from new (although I believe the cinema area did get a makeover about 6-7 years ago so its possible the restaurant is in the new bit but even then 7 years old is not "new")
