It comes with the Italian citizenship, we gotta recognize a Ferrari at a first glance! I was a bit weirded out by the BMW though, since I thought James Bond exclusively drove Aston Martins
@@PennyisWatching all the Bond actors but Roger Moore drove an Aston Martin in the Bond movies. Roger usually drove a Lotus Esprit. Funny enough, he drove an Aston Martin in Cannonball Run.
@@PennyisWatching They keep coming back to the Iconic Aston Martin DB5 and some of the later models but even in the books it is not his only car. Before the DB5 he drove a Bentley only briefly shown in the second film. The long wait because of the covid fallout, I read all the Ian Fleming books. You are in for a ride with these films but after Bosman I strongly advise going to the beginning with Dr. No and sticking to the order as even as actors change the role builds on the past through T. Dalton.
If the youtuber Jen Murray is anything to go by then yes you should watch every bond. Not only will your subscribers appreciate you reacting to the bond films but your subscriber count and view count will go up. Also if you enjoyed goldeneye which is one of my favorite bond films then there are many more of the bond films new and older that you would like. Great reaction.
@@PennyisWatching She also did both Bond and now Star Trek right by doing them in order. Too many just jump around or do the top shows but by doing so miss too much of the story. One I hope Jen or another does with that same treatment is Babylon Five while also doing Star Trek Deep Space Nine. B5 has a 5 year main story plus movies and some add ons. The main story written by JMS 10 years prior to B5's launch with WB was marketed to Paramount JMS refused to work it into a Star Trek but Paramount used his story to help build DS9. Watching them side by side you can pick out both stolen material and intended roasting of each other. Also when some feuding was going on over control of Trek with Gene's family after his death Majel Barrett Roddenberry even guest stared on B5. Also some Star Trek cast are also on B5 including Andreas Katsulas (Regular Romulan in Trek and the lead Narn in B5) Don't want to say more for spoilers except that with B5 the second watch is even better because JMS tells you things even years ahead but you miss them the first time, something that really proves much of the story was thought out before filming even the pilot..
Bongiorno, Penny! “Goldeneye” is my FAVORITE of the modern James Bond movies. You do have to be cautious, some Bond is better than others, both by movie and by Bond. My favorite Bond is the classic Sir Sean Connery. “Goldfinger” and “From Russia with Love” are top form James Bond, where Sir Connery cranks up both his relaxed charm and cold menace up to 11. You also have to include “You Only Live Twice” because it’s the ultimate set-up of a Cool Villain’s Lair complete with loudspeaker count-down. One of my favorite Bond films also stars one of the least popular Bonds, “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” starring an Australian, George Lazenby. However, Lazenby isn’t anywhere near as bad as people make out, probably the most physical of the 20th Century Bonds and able to emote a sly cleverness and both fear and devastation. Sir Roger Moore may not be my favorite Bond, he was neither physically imposing nor menacing, but he is all charm and lovably goofy, but with a magnetic cleverness. His best movies were “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “Octopussy”. Timothy Dalton was always my personal least favorite Bond. As much as I like him as an actor and his movies were never bottom of the barrel Bond, he just never stood out IMHO. His best is “Licensed to Kill”. I will say this about Dalton’s Bond, he would be the one I’d least want to have pissed off at me. Pierce Brosnan, aside giving one of my favorite Bond performances in “Goldeneye” is also my most disappointing Bond. After “Goldeneye” followed the much lesser “Tomorrow Never Dies” and lesser still “The World is Not Enough.” Both are entertaining and have their strong moments, especially Michelle Yeoh in the former, but they are kind of bland, then the bottom dropped out of the series with the truly awful “Die Another Day.” Unfortunately, I also wasn’t the biggest fan of Daniel Craig’s Bond, as much as I like the actor. I give his recent tenure props because “Skyfall” was very good, but I think it was more because Javier Bardem’s role as the antagonist is one of the best James Bond villains of all time. He’s ok in Casino Royale too, but his other outings are among my least favorite Bond. I think I just don’t buy into a more gritty Bond versus the charming, clever, and “you have to suspend your sense of reality” cheesy movie magic Bond. Sorry for the novella. Love your show, especially your really funny running commentary (have you ever seen the TV series “Mystery Science Theater 3000”? You’d be perfect for it. Check out the episode where they watch and riff the movie “The Final Sacrifice”).
Hi Penny, I saw Sean Bean for the first time with Goldeneye, so I did not know he was supposed to die. LOL. I became obsessed with the N64 Goldeneye game. Played it for hours, no days, no, let’s just say I needed a shave and a bath by the time I completed the game. I started watching James Bond in the 60’s with Dr. No (1963) on black and white late night TV. The first one I saw in theaters was You Only Live Twice (1967). It traumatized me as a kid. I had nightmares with the violence and brutality. I also started reading the Ian Fleming novels and the daily newspaper James Bond comic strip, very risqué next to kid’s comics! I have seen every Bond film up to Skyfall (2012). I thought it was the most perfect Bond film I have ever seen. I made a vow to NEVER see another one after that. I have kept that vow, but NEVER SAY NEVER. I loved your reactions and commentary. I may start again if you continue reacting beyond Skyfall!
Thank you. First off, "Goldeneye" is widely considered one of the best Bond movies, it was the fourth highest grossing movie of 1995, and adjusted for inflation one of the highest grossing Bond movies. Pierce Brosnan first achieved recognition in the T.V. series Remington Steele (1982-1987), during which he was approached as a possible replacement for the ageing Roger Moore as Bond, he was however contracted to the T.V. series and could not accept the part. When Remington Steele finally ceased production and Mr. Brosnan was available he was signed on to replaced Timothy Dalton who had left the part after playing Bond in two films following Mr. Moore's departure from the part in 1987. Second, since you have started with Pierce Brosnan as James bond in "Goldeneye" I would suggest watching the rest of Mr. Brosnan's Bond movies, there are three more. After that you could go back and watch the early Bond movies and see how they developed as movies and culture changed until you again reach the Brosnan movies, skip over them and watch the most recent Daniel Craig Bond movies. Or you could watch the Daniel Craig movies following Mr. Brosnan's final Bond movie "Die Another Day" (2002), before going back to appreciate where the movies started with Sean Connery in 1962. I think the later order is possibly the easier for new viewing. Personally I don't think there are any bad Bond actors, and while many of the movies are dated and some suffered production difficulties I don't think any of them are "bad movies," and even the earliest can be enjoyed move than sixty years later. But what do I know?
What some people tend to do is one film from each actor, in which case it could be either their first one (like 'Goldeneye' was for Brosnan) or just their highest rated one (say 'Goldfinger' for Sean Connery) Either way I'm stoked to see you trying this franchise out, it's a great series that needs more love nowadays.
"are you still alive?! that is not very sean bean of you!" HILARIOUS! 🤣enjoyed your reaction! ☺ i subscribed to follow you on your james bond journey of discovery 😁 i look forward to ALL your reactions! (not just bond) 👍
My personal choice for one film from every actor who has played James Bond for comparison purposes would be: Thunderball - Sean Connery On Her Majesty's Secret Service - George Lazenby The Spy Who Loved Me - Roger Moore Licence to Kill - Timothy Dalton Goldeneye - You've done Skyfall - Daniel Craig
Timothy Dalton was Bond when I was a kid but as a teen I had Nintendo 64 and the iconic Goldeneye 007 game. Through the game and movie, I got into the rest of the franchise. This is an excellent starting point.
This is a fairly interesting place to start, in that Brosnan was the final actor to play the Bond role before the reboot, and this group of films by him are more in tune with the modern Daniel Craig Bond, but still with a dash of the older campy Bond style. As for which Bond movies you should watch ... while I wouldn't say they're all "good," they're kind of culturally significant and nostalgic. You might want to continue with the next movie after "Goldeneye" and maybe even finish out the Brosnan Bond series. Then go into the Daniel Craig ones. Or, if you like older movies, offhand I'd say the best two Sean Connery Bonds are "From Russia With Love" and "Goldfinger." But they're all notable for this reason or that. Maybe watch a set of Bond movies and rank them ...?
A great thing about the James Bond films is that you can easily jump into any era and follow the story without any issues. While some films have loose connections and occasionally reference past events, even when a different actor is playing Bond, it’s all loosely connected but each film is a whole new adventure. For example, the events of On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969), starring one-off Bond George Lazenby, featuring a key moment that are referenced in the Roger Moore era and I believe in Timothy Dalton’s first film, The Living Daylights (1987), although I might be mistaken on that. For the most part, starting with a Bond actor’s first film is an excellent introduction to the series. I’ve always viewed the Bond films in a similar way to how Marvel Comics operates its mainline universe, a scaling timeline where storylines are pushed forward, closer to modern day. So, even though there’s a 60-year time difference between Dr. No (1962) and Die Another Day (2002), the events within the Bond movie world itself happen much closer together. The approach allows James Bond to remain timeless, along with the character being recast so he does not age age in real time. The Daniel Craig films, however, are a complete reboot in terms of narrative, starting from the beginning with each film being more interconnected. So, keep that in mind when jumping into those films, starting with Casino Royale (2006). They also age in real time so from 2006 all the way to 2021 it's the same cast of characters.
Fun fact the first Moneypenny actress went AWOL to get the role but the producer Albert R. Broccoli pulled strings, His daughter and stepson runs the Bond films now.
Incidentally, on a radio interview once Sean Bean was asked who he would like to smash with a thunderbolt, "Rowan Atkinson," he replied, "...every time my phone rings, I pick it up and say, 'Mister Bean speaking.' and they start laughing on the other end!" Re Bond. I'm getting on so it was always Connery for me and Goldfinger the movie which Brosnan saw with his Mum when it came out and made him want to go into acting.
I was saying just yesterday that my "dream James Bond" would have been Rowan Atkinson. I know it's a weird choice, but comedians are very often great at more serious roles, and he definitely has the right aplomb 😂 Then I remembered Johnny English exists, so maybe I'm not completely crazy
I was a little kid in the 80’s and saw the classic Bond movies when I was really young, then watched the Pierce Brosnan Bond movies when I was in high school. I really like Sean Connery, but I’ve gotta admit, my favorite Bond is by far Daniel Craig. All of the 007 movies are great, but the Daniel Craig ones raise the bar imo.
This was an instant thumbs up & watch, before you had even finished the intro! I mean, you sound like a "Classic Era" Bond villain already, so this choice is an absolutely irresistible combination 🥰
There is a certain charm of watching the James Bond movies in release order, especially the old ones. You can see how the franchise developed and how they figured out what worked. Favourite James Bond movie? 'You only live twice' (1967) Least favourite James Bond movie? 'Casino Royale' (1967). Just like 'Never Say Never Again' (1983) these two movies only exist because of some copyright shenanigans and are usually not considered part of the 'official' series of James Bond movies. 'Casino Royale' (1967) is not a bad movie in itself, but a bad James Bond movie. As for my favourite James Bond actors: 1. Sir Sean Connery 2. Sir Roger Moore 3. Pierce Brosnan 4. Timothy Dalton 5. George Lazenby 6. Daniel Craig Mind that this list has less to do with the quality of their acting, more with the Bond movies they were in.
Great movie reaction as always Penny!! If I may suggest, these are my favourites of the other actors who played James Bond: Sean Connery - Dr. No. George Lazenby - On Her Majestice's Secret Service (He only played in one movie). Roger Moore - The Spy Who Loved Me. Timothy Dalton - The Living Daylights. Daniel Craig - Casino Royale. Golden Eye is also my favourite Pierce Brosnan James Bond movie!! I know I have mentioned this before, but please could you react to 'Equilibrium - 2002'.
Brosnan & Connery were my favorite Bonds. Someday, after seeing some Connery Bonds, you should definitely check out The Rock (a Bond film that never tells you it's a Bond film) starring Sean Connery and Nic Cage.
I would warn you that there are three distinct style periods for Bond 1) 62 - 79 Spy Fantasy, where it's very over the top villains and spectacle 2) 81 - 02 Spy Action, leaning harder into "realism" if only Hollywood style realism 3) 06 - 15 Dark & Gritty, because if it's not bleak, it's not sheik
My favourite (pre Daniel Craig) Bond movie, perhaps I'm also N64 biased. You'd make an excellent Bond girl, Penny, the accent alone would nail it. A great watch, keep it up. ; )
The movie that cemented Sean Bean's reputation as "that guy who dies". He had on screen deaths before this, but in this movie his character died TWICE 🤣 Bean was considered for the role of Bond, imagine if he had gotten the role. That may also prevented him from playing Boromir in "Lord of the Rings" which in turn means he's unlikely to play Ned Stark in "Game of Thrones".
There's a bit of both! Paid subscription for the full length reactions, free for updates and random "hey I've done this cool thing" posts - for example, I posted yesterday a bunch of pics I've taken at an H.R. Giger Exposition, and that was free :)
This is, IMHO, one of the best Bond movies. The early ones are rather dated and lack high energy action (it was the 60's), the latest ones have lost the soul. This one balances cheesiness, action and humour very well. "My" childhood Bond is Roger Moore, his take is much more to the cheesy humour. The key to watching Bond is that you are supposed to just enjoy it, not take it seriously!
I think if you would like to try another James Bond then you would enjoy any of - The Spy who loved me, Moonraker or Casino Royale ( the 2000ish version ). The first two are really over the top and crazy ( peak Bond ) and the third is just a good film.
Watch Thunderball for Sean Connery. Watch The Spy Who Loved Me for the Roger Moore era. Watch The Living Daylights from 1987 for a mix of the first two.
I think Connery would have to be Goldfinger if limited to one, although I personally really like From Russia With Love. I think watching less than three Connery Bonds would be a mistake and Thunderball is then one of the ones I would watch. And two from Moore. Your choice plus For Your Eyes Only.
This was Brosnan's best film by a country mile, and it also happened to be his first as well, and one of my favorites of the entire franchise. My personal favorite Bond overall was Roger Moore as he was the one I grew up with, and he has the majority of films I prefer overall. But everyone has a favorite for different reasons, they all have their good and bad traits, as some were more serious, while some were more comical, and others were a combination of the two. Great series and character, you could do a lot worse than James Bond, believe me, as I've seen a crap load of them. LOL
Penny, this was a superb reaction! Witty and clever and entertaining. My favorite Bond is Pierce Brosnan, least favorite is Daniel Craig, as he is less funny, less charming, less likeable, less elegant. They say he is more like the Bond in the books, but having read some of them, the Bond in the books is less likeable. Sean Connery's Bond treats women horrendously. Timothy Dalton's made for good spy movies that did not feel like Bond. Roger Moore is my second fav. Moonraker is cheesy fun. George Lazenby is better than Timothy Dalton and especially Daniel Craig - who is trauma therapy Bond. Who fails.
As a total beginner of the series, I'll say that Daniel Craig doesn't "look like" the idea of how James Bond should look like to me. There's something about his physical appearance that just doesn't really make me think of Bond. I'm definitely open to watching his 007 movies anyway, but I'm more likely to watch older movies first!
Really best to watch in order with Dr. No but this was a soft reboot and D. Creig a hard one but with but Dr. No fits with the M transition like a loop if dates are dropped.
G'day Penny , your accent I love greatly , I believe the next Bond film you could watch in Bond universe 🌌 should be On Her Magisteries Secret Service , whith George Lazenby , it is a sad Bond film bring some tissues .
Which Bonds to watch? It's complicated. The 60s ones are slower. The 70s ones got stupidly cheesy. 80s/90s well you saw one. And the Daniel Craig's are very different. Watching them all is really the best way. (Jen Murray did it.) Then you can truly understand films like Austin Powers. (Although that really requires watching the TV Avengers from the 60s as well,)
8:44 This movie came out to early. Today it would have achieved cult following with millions on X saying “strangle me with your thighs mommy 🥵”. Entire concept of femme fatale assassins stopped working because everyone is into them and nobody minds to die. Have you watched Gone Girl btw?
Never watched Gone Girl but Fincher directed one of my favorite movies (Fight Club) so I could definitely like it! I definitely know a lot of people who would happily get choked by Famke Janssen and say "thank you" with their final breath 😅
i kinda agree that every james bond movie is worth watching.. with a caveat... i HATE the Daniel Craig bond movies with a passion,. they are so bad.. but all others are worth watching
Hi Penny! My recomendations are, in chronological order: 1.- Goldfinger (Sean Connery), the most influential movie in the franchise. 2.- On Her Majesty Secret Sevice (George Lazenby). 3.- The Spy Who Love Me (Roger Moore). 4. License to Kill (Timothy Dalton). 5.- Casino Royale (Daniel Craig). Perhaps the best Bond movie. And my favorite actor is Sean Connery.
Once again, I watch the Pennification of a movie I’ve never seen, confident it will be superior to the actual film… and of course it was. I am of the generation where Sean Connery is our Bond. James Bond. So my favorite is easily “Goldfinger”… beyond that, I recommend “Dr. No”, “From Russia, With Love”, “Thunderball”, and “You Only Live Twice”. To me, Roger Moore is the worst Bond, and I find his smug persona unwatchable. The Daniel Craig Bond films are well done action movies, but they don’t feel like James Bond movies, to me.
"You're still alive?? That's not very Sean Bean of you!" HAHAHA
This was such a fun watchalong with you, thanks for that! I could absolutely see you getting into this franchise from the beginning.

Sean Bean has to be the most versatile actor ever.

Welcome Penny to this great universe!! Although you don´t believe it, you chose a great one to start.
SEAN BEAN ❣ Oh man i hope he doesn't die in this movie.
Edit: Oh nvm, my bad.
😥
Does he EVER survive? Poor guy, being a living spoiler
Begin at the beginning! (It's the only way {'Aliens" quote})
There is a certain charm of watching the James Bond movies in release order, especially the old ones. You can see how the franchise developed and how they figured out what worked.
Favourite James Bond movie? 'You only live twice' (1967)
Least favourite James Bond movie? 'Casino Royale' (1967). Just like 'Never Say Never Again' (1983) these two movies only exist because of some copyright shenanigans and are usually not considered part of the 'official' series of James Bond movies. 'Casino Royale' (1967) is not a bad movie in itself, but a bad James Bond movie.
As for my favourite James Bond actors:
1. Sir Sean Connery
2. Sir Roger Moore
3. Pierce Brosnan
4. Timothy Dalton
5. George Lazenby
6. Daniel Craig
Mind that this list has less to do with the quality of their acting, more with the Bond movies they were in.
Great movie reaction as always Penny!! If I may suggest, these are my favourites of the other actors who played James Bond:
Sean Connery - Dr.
The world is not enough is a great bond film. My favorite. Would love to see your reaction.
can't wait for the next movies of james bond , my fav is pierce brosnan bond movies like these one
Soon! I've been editing the next 007 movie :)
I would warn you that there are three distinct style periods for Bond
1) 62 - 79 Spy Fantasy, where it's very over the top villains and spectacle
2) 81 - 02 Spy Action, leaning harder into "realism" if only Hollywood style realism
3) 06 - 15 Dark & Gritty, because if it's not bleak, it's not sheik
My favourite (pre Daniel Craig) Bond movie, perhaps I'm also N64 biased. You'd make an excellent Bond girl, Penny, the accent alone would nail it. A great watch, keep it up. ; )
Pegasus Tank. Brilliant Penny.
Oh my Favourite Bond Actor is Timothy Dalton in The Living Daylights
Part II 😁 Just found out the woman playing Miss Money Penny's real name is Samantha Bond!! ☮️
GoldenEye is still the 3rd best Bond film ever made as far as im concerned, after From Russia With Love and Goldfinger
Good edit 😁
My childhood right here😃 People are more familiar with the video game than the movie 🎮
Guilty as charged: I've seen my friends playing the game, but didn't watch the movie until now 😅
43:08 Penny & Sean Bean having a moment together.
You really are very entertaining Tish. My all time favorite Bond film is Goldfinger. That's very not Sean Bean of you, epic.
Your taste in movies is unique and interesting. By the way, is your Patreon free or a paid subscription?
There's a bit of both! Paid subscription for the full length reactions, free for updates and random "hey I've done this cool thing" posts - for example, I posted yesterday a bunch of pics I've taken at an H.R. Giger Exposition, and that was free :)
@PennyisWatching sounds great. Thank you
People who are shocked by Sean Bean not dying need to watch the series Sharpe.
The key to watching Bond is that you are supposed to just enjoy it, not take it seriously!
hey, Penny is "Invincible!" : D Pierce is an awesome Bond.
Not all Bond movies are great but they're all pretty fun
Ah, the era of one-liners!
Not only beautiful, but very funny too 😂
Awesome Penny! I think you should start at the beginning with Sean Connery
LOL
Cool👍
@@PennyisWatching You have excellent instincts Penny!
You should watch all the Bond films!
I felt like you should’ve start with the first movie “Dr. No (1962)”
I like brosnans bond but nobody beats TIMMY DALTS as 007. It's just a shame he only made 2 movie's
Really best to watch in order with Dr. No but this was a soft reboot and D. Creig a hard one but with but Dr. No fits with the M transition like a loop if dates are dropped.
7:35 This is my first time here, but I immediately assumed that you were either from the CIS/Russia or from Eastern Europe 😁
(Although that really requires watching the TV Avengers from the 60s as well,)
❤❤❤
Now you are ready for one of the jankiest, beloved game of all time
8:44
This movie came out to early. Today it would have achieved cult following with millions on X saying “strangle me with your thighs mommy 🥵”. Entire concept of femme fatale assassins stopped working because everyone is into them and nobody minds to die. Have you watched Gone Girl btw?
9:26
Also first historical appearance of the Coomer meme
Never watched Gone Girl but Fincher directed one of my favorite movies (Fight Club) so I could definitely like it!
I definitely know a lot of people who would happily get choked by Famke Janssen and say "thank you" with their final breath 😅
i kinda agree that every james bond movie is worth watching.. with a caveat... i HATE the Daniel Craig bond movies with a passion,. they are so bad.. but all others are worth watching
Goldeneye is easily the best movie during Brosnan's era as James Bond and Die Another Day is the worst. Avoid it at all costs, Penny!
It's better than No Time To Day.
@Penny is Watching You sound Russian.
Anyone count how many clicks Boris made on that deadly pen? I know how it works, just want to know the total number of clicks that were made
😢😢😢
23:35 Suplice Mutha Fluffa!
"Shaken, not stirred" is an insult to the bartender.
There's only 1 James Bond... Sean Connery
its ony a movie
Hi Penny! My recomendations are, in chronological order:
1.- Goldfinger (Sean Connery), the most influential movie in the franchise.
Hello, What are U, Hungerian?😉🙂🙃
English is obviously not your first language. Why do you record these videos in English?
Your choice of movies is mercurial, and you should be careful about making enemy so early in your RUclips career.
