What was the kit number on this. Looking inthe merc catalog on mine it doesnt have that same driveshaft seal . I am wondering if this isnt causing some issues.
Should my Optimax 150 pee immediately, or does it wait until the engine is warm? I have fished a several years, but have never taken a boat out myself. My dad died about a year and a half ago and I now possess his Nitro 7. It has not been on the water in almost two years, and the batteries need to be replace. The cranking battery has totally died and I have tried charging it and reconditioning it. I also decided to replace the trolling motor batteries with Li Time (lithium) batteries, and am going to install a lithium charger, too. But, I already knew that the tell tale wasn't peeing from cranking it up a few months ago. I had tried muffs, but it never peed. I bought a large (soft) rainwater collection "can" and filled it up. That way the propeller can turn with no need for the muffs. Using both methods. it still never peed. I only found out today that I could screw in my hose to the left of the tell-tale. That did cause water to stream from the tell tale. But my main question still remains: Should the tell tale pass water immediately, or should it rely on the engine warming up enough to open up the thermostat?
You should see water right away or within a couple seconds at most. You possibly have a bad impeller or obstruction in the water passage ways. Sometimes a piece of debris gets lodged in tell tale, you can try clearing it with by poking in a straightened paper clip.
You can leave it neutral but sometimes driveshaft splines don’t line up during assembly. If it’s in gear, you can just turn the prop slightly to align.
Agree, you left off hardest part of water pump replace. I noticed a lot outboard how to videos do that not just water pump. They all leave out the most important part of job??? My guess is they got in trouble and had to hire a Pro fix it. They don't want you knowing that?
Just replaced my water pump in my 115 Mercury Optimax following your video. Excellent video - made my work a snap! Great Job !!!
Great video! After watching, I feel confident that I can change my Optimax impeller - thanks a bunch!
Very helpful video, looks like it will be the same on my 135 carb.
You don’t need to change the lower lube. Can do it without.
Great Video! Thanks!
What an excellent video. Thanks
Why did you leave out most important aspect of job??? Re-installing the lower unit.
Thanks 🙌🙌🙌

Great video. What prop size you have on your motor?

Do i need to reset anything after the impeller change? Or do i just start the boat up and the alarm should just go away
You didn't have to remove speedometer hose when removing lower unit?
Good video
Is this an optimax 90? Didn’t see the other guys removing the oil first.
You dont have to. Just good to do once a year.
Nice video. What year and hp of your motor?
what about disconecting the shift rod
Thanks
Добрый день! спасибо большое, очень понятно как и что делать !!!!
What's the reason for putting in forward gear??
You can leave it neutral but sometimes driveshaft splines don’t line up during assembly. If it’s in gear, you can just turn the prop slightly to align.
Obrigado tks
Should of shown the installation of lower unit. You skipped it.
