    Very nice! Really melodic outside playing and phrasing!

    I really like how Revstar looks. It's already a classic. The one thing I don't like about it, is that they sticked to Les Paul angle of strings on the headstock. It would be awesome, if it had all strings that go straight from the nut to the pegs like on PRS.

      I like the look too - kinda bold but also classic!

      Agree with you on the strings. What a missed opportunity

    Ah that's perfect ! I was going to ask you if you could do another video on altered scales/ideas, just you playing. Really interesting because your approach being so musical, it starts "making sense" in my head the more I listen to you play that sort of stuff. It helps to "feel" and comprehend it a bit more about what's going on. That's typically the kind of playing I really love about guys like Roben Ford...staying true to the recipe but carefully adding well-thought/well-chosen more sophisticated ideas in there. If that even makes sense aha !

    Hi John, at 4:27 you replicate three notes and play them up an interval. It has kind of an 'outside' sound. Can you please explain what you did there? Thanks

    This or Epiphone lp custom 2020 or the Sire guitars?

    Which of the revstars do you prefer (regarding tailpiece/bridge). I haven’t owned a wraparound bridge before and have heard some negative things. The tailpiece on the other revstar seems crazy large and possibly bothersome as well. Any thoughts?

    • @johnnathancordy
      @johnnathancordy  4 года назад +1

      The tailpiece on the 502t is not at all bothersome, its quite low profile. Umm the wraparound I've had no issues with either. Aesthetically I prefer both these options to a normal tuneomatic. I think the 502t is perhaps a bit more lively and jangly as a result of the bridge? No real preference, I like them both!

      johnnathancordy thank you. I have recently built 4 guitars so I don’t “need” another one...but this one is different and I’d like to own a Yamaha someday. Hrmmm. Tough decisions.

    So where did you use alt here? Based on just listening it sounds more like mixolydian b6 or something. I know they're both melodic minor so I guess that's why my ears are confused. Anyways sounds great dude!
    What are the chords?

      @@jyryhalonen4990 a melodic minor scale sounds like a melodic minor scale no matter which degree it starts from for me?

    • @jyryhalonen4990
      @jyryhalonen4990 4 года назад

      @@johnnathancordy That's very interesting. It's certainly useful to think in melodic minor but for me the sound is very different depending on what the context of the chords is.
      Same as the major scales modes are very different. Like a song that's in C major you couldn't say is in B Locrian.
      Which melodic minor did you use here? F mel min?

    I´ve read in Yamaha website that the neck is 1st fret/12th fret 21.1 / 25.2 mm, don´t you think it is too thick?

    Hey so I got my HX stomp in but it came in the wrong color, so I haven't yet played with the patches yet. I was curious if you record direct via USB with the stomp? I saw your video about using it via usb, but didn't know if that's how you use yours. I am debating between that and using the focusrite scarlett I have but I didn't know if going digital through the stomp and then back to analog and digital again with the scarlett is too much and not necessary.

    • @johnnathancordy
      @johnnathancordy  4 года назад +2

      I run it into an interface personally - just because I switch between Helix/HX stomp/ real amps and mics all the time! What colour did you go for?!

    • @ssjsongoku29ps4gaming8
      @ssjsongoku29ps4gaming8 4 года назад +1

      @@johnnathancordy I wanted a white one but was sent a black one. However, I decided to just keep the black one. Both colors look great. I get exposed to the virus frequently at work so I don't want to risk transmitting it just because of a return. I got it for 20 percent off too so I can't complain.
