I made a commitment to get a better education about a year ago. I'm in my forties. I found your lectures, and it's been my first exposure to literature as an educational source. I'm happy to say that watching your lectures over the last year has really broadened my understanding of the world to a degree I never realised was available.
I wish everyone was encouraged to engage with literature. My experience of education is that the institution deliberately hid this opportunity from me.
I spent a few weeks as a trainee nurse in a palliative care ward. I watched a man die of lung cancer, and it was a profound experience. All of this is so relevant to understanding human life, and it's a tragedy that it's being kept from people in the Australian university system.
