The Prince needs to be a requirement for anyone seeking high office. Understanding the past is a key to the future. Machiavelli is as relevant today as it was in the 17th century.

@allenandrews2380 you haven't read the book if you don't think it wasn't meant as a guide, read just the first law, notice how it's not enlightening the reader to be weary of people who never outshine their master and how it's in an instructional perspective (if you're referring to Robert's interview, you'll have to read his other book "the laws of human nature" to understand why he said that in that clip)

What a historically significant writing about the acquisition of and the maintaining of power. I do have one question, how valid is the methodologies laid out here under a technocracy? Technological dominance is an entirely novel power differential which ultimately nullifies would be subjects and their their ability to revolt against over reaching tyranny. The days of torches and pitchforks are a long gone aspect of the balance of power of a would be ruler. This is why Technocracy is so frightening to me personally speaking.

    Chapter 23 “Beware of brown-nosers” 😉.
“Flattery is like a drug; addictive and dangerous.”
The part about being weary of flatterers, amongst your advisors and your innermost circle. Warrants a quick review of the way he’s chosen to introduce this “gift” to the next successor of the De Medici lineage. 🧐🐍(I can’t remember where this is explained, I assume I didn’t pay attention when I’d heard, what I’ve just now understood.)
Then again, seldom does such an adjective and noun originate from one’s name, without earning it.
    IMO😅!!

2:20 Possibly one of the most untrue statements in history, right at the start
The thing about The Prince is it's not terribly complicated, it's mostly just presented in the most pretentious way imaginable, and lies to your face about not doing so.
It's like how his book called "The Art of War" is not really about war at all and is basically just him saying "look at all these cool people I hang out with!" then proceeding to tediously recall a conversation between a bunch of characters from Assassin's Creed 2 masturbating to how cool the Romans used to be in somebody's back garden.
