In the ever constant rat race of life, is amazing to have a time to look at timeless wisdom and how they lived life. Is just amazing how we are focused on work, while they were doing dialetic, medicine, justice, spirituality and seeking knowledge in general. This channel is amazing
Another dive into philosophy, awesome! Time to kick back, relax, and ponder the ancient wisdom. Would you consider making one on Epicurus and his philosophy of happiness at some point? Thank you
We'll do at least the 20 or so most influential philosophers in Diogenes' book, including Epicurus. Ideally we'll get through all of them, but the lesser-known will take a while to get to.
80 Talents is about 2080 Kilograms. Which is about 73,000 oz of silver. It's about 2million dollars at about 28-dollar spot price for an oz of silver in today's market. And silver isn't used as money today. So, yea it was a boat load of silver Plato's gift that was left to him.
Plato was always going to be a marathon! Congratulations! What a hero! I find it an interesting detail that Socrates' dream re a swan reminds me of the story or legend of Zeus taking the form of a swan to impregnate Leda, who birthed Athena, and also Isis and her identity as a swan. The constellation Cygnus spans the Milky Way across the 'Dark Rift' which was believed to be the gateway of souls and the portal to the Cosmic Mind. I feel the wisdom of Plato and his fellow philosophers in that era was both the bringing forward of a (nearly) lost wisdom and the precursor to many socio-political/religious doctrine, but the wisdom became diluted and distorted, sadly, and is now scarcely known.. Thank you for bring it back to centre stage. So much to ponder on. I loved your personal poetic input. What is your opinion on the authenticity of Critaeus's account (from Solon and the priest at Sais, and through Plato's maternal grandfather Dropidus) of Atlantis, attributed to Plato? I have discovered that there was an 'elder' and a 'younger' Critaeus and the origin of the legend is mostly confused.
I've always loved white swans. One might wonder if this is what inspired H. C. Andersen to write The Ugly Duckling 🤔 Yes! Without philosophy and reason we're easily manipulated. This is a big part of the reason we started this channel. Those old books don't resonate with modern people, but their content still do. We'll get to Atlantis very soon. I have pages of notes and a list of several possible explanations. Personally, i think it's the Americas, but it's *far* from definitive and mostly just a feeling. I also won't go full Joe Rogan and assume there was a highly developed ancient civilization 😄
Interesting work! Thank you! Would be really cool if you were able to find actual pictures of manuscripts, statues, archeological finds, and inscriptions, to put to the video.
22:21 I assume that this was part of Plato's "Laws", being his last and longest dialogue which read out loud may take 17 hours and where the 'Athenian Stranger' is probably Socrates.

Thank you, brother! To be fair, they had slaves to do the menial stuff.
So do we (sadly)
Another excellent view into past, and into one of the greatest minds ever. Thank you Legendary Lore.
Hey man, been loving all the stuff you put out. Truly underappreciated! Thank you for this.
Thanks a bunch, brother! Your kind words mean a lot.

@@TheLegendaryLore Thanks for your reply. I shall be patient and wait for the Atlantis episode!
Interesting work!
Thank you!

Thanks, brother! I'll remember to add a few real photos in future videos, within the constraints of copyright limitations.
You guys should do Seneca's Moral Letters
I'll look into it :)

Thank you :)
A Fourfold Thank You
Thanks
Thank you, brother!
@@TheLegendaryLore ❤️
are you telling me Glaucon and Adeimantus found in the Republic are plato's brother?
That is correct, brother.
🙏
will we be getting plato's republic soon?
We will absolutely do The Republic. It's such a fascinating text, but it'll be a 16+ hour video, so we're working on it bit by bit.
We deserve a discord server for discussion of these profound videos/ideas
Would you say Discord is the best option? I was thinking of Telegram, but I honestly don't know.
@@TheLegendaryLore I think most people are on discord nowadays. But it depends on your audiences, us young people use discord.
@@sierramaestra4998 Let me give it some thought.
@@TheLegendaryLore I would join for sure.
The Prince by Nicole is how to gain power in Kingdom how about how to gain power in Republic and keep the power
☕
Plato did not predate “abrahamic religions” lost me early on 🤷♂️
Plato did not look that gay
You think he looks gay?
@@TheLegendaryLore yea, his busts look cooler

His dialogues were super gay. Especially the earlier ones. Charmides is disgusting.
