Another great video , I always learn learn something from your videos . It reminded me of something that happened about 15-20 years ago , I was involved in a foundry project , and there was another foundry , you could say a competitor , and they had a process for plaster casting , and I called them up and asked them how they did it , and they got really mad , they even called me back to let me know how upset they were with my questions ! Well of course that just made be very curious and I studied their literature and a little home movie I found about the foundry , and I think I figured out how they did it . Well the foundry I was involved in was robbed on Christmas eve , and totally cleaned out , the thieves came with trucks , and that was the end of that . I had not thought about it since , but your video brought back some memories . This is what I think they did , they started with a plug and they put a thin layer of pure plaster over it , probably with a brush and their hands , then they had a pitcher with a air hose attached to the bottom that bubbled clean (no compressor oil) air through the plaster making a plaster foam , they poured the plaster foam around the pure plaster shell inside a removable box and let it all cure . When they filled the mold with metal , Zink in this case , and the zink cooled and shrank , but instead of maybe having a hot tear it would just crush into the foam and come out perfect . They did pretty near perfect work there.

Let us know how it works out and what you use it for. I'm going to see if my sample will hold up in water....just for fun!

I placed the plaster/clay in a cup of water and the clay shoed signs of absorbing water and melting some.

Hi Captain Mike. Thank you for showing us your experimentation. I was wondering if adding the sawdust made the plaster any less brittle? Best regards, Sophus.

How many of these mixtures can be used in microwave glass fusing?

I had a lot of problems with molds for the microwave. Plaster will not work and clay/ceramic failed most of the time. The clay/ceramic did work in a regular kiln.

At my age I forget a lot of stuff. Remind me again what you want and I'll see what I can do.
