When you are playing strict Air mode though, the 109 F2s 15mm gun with armored belts makes it a great substitute ground attacker in a pinch though. It can even kill light pillboxes from the sides if you can get the angle. And of course Rockets too

The way you play the game is just so PERFECT! I play the game without having a single knowledge of what I'm doing like when I see a enemy tank I just shoot... The way you go for a silent bomb drop, hmm just so beautiful. This is probably why I never get board of watch your video, so thank you phly!
The no ammo combo: Type 60 SPRG (10 rounds for 2 guns) and the Kikka (50 rounds for a single gun or 100 rounds for 2 with mod)
The has still 50 rounds with the second gun. You only deal more damage
About that 15mm... it was good a couple patches back... but then all german cannons got a nerf... again

To answer your question on the reason why .50 penetrates harder than a 15mm. A solid object, .50 cal, has more mass to push it further in. A 15mm is a package of explosive jacketed with metal. It is mainly relying on explosive force to punch through. If I remember correctly, War Thunder is usually pretty accurate about ballistics.

The north korean second hand combo: IS-2 mod 1944 TU-2s attempt#18 history below
in 1960 nk received 60 is-2 tanks from the soviet union. i couldn't find anything that said they were still front line vehicles but knowing the north they are probably still kept operational just in case of invasion. Like the is-2 i could not find anything that said the tu-2s was still in use by the north's airforce but like the is-2, they are probably kept close to operational incase of war Sources: armstrade.sipri.org (because of how the trade registers are made you have to make recreate it. i use all (default) as suppliers and just north korea as the sole recipient and i did 1950-2016 with the register of the recipient. do aircraft and armored vehicles.
I don't know if you remember this, but RedPanda once suggesting on one of your videos to take invert challenge. (invert controls on tanks and planes, as well as gun handling controls, right click to shoot, W to reverse, stuff like that). I think that would be a fun episode. I know it isn't request specific tank/plane combo, but it sounds fun when you invert things.

Uber Flanker: When the germans get the Su-27
I very much prefer the Bf 109 E4 over the Bf 109 F2 for ground rb.
The reason is that you can have *both* a bomb *and* 2x 20 mm cannons with mineshells.
The cannons rips through the enemy planes.
The Bf 109 E4 also beats the F line in turn rate when using flaps when you got the energy to do so (energy you're going to bleed bloody fast using those flaps, still with that turn rate you're going to surprise a lot of planes).
You can spot a ton of enemies using the machine guns, and you got that bomb for the actual anti-tank duty (together with the machine gun spotting)
All in all it serves me extremely well.

Velocity is squared in energy equation, the speed difference in rounds make a lot more of a difference than you would think.

I do get a lot of tank kills in my F2. Thing is you need to snipe the crew. Best approach is to come from behind, aim at the turret and some times if the angle is just right you can even get the driver and MG gunner.
Cannon AP-I from airplanes doesn't produce fragmentation/shrapnell on impact or penetration, therefore they do less dmg than a 7.7mm. Same reason that the American 20mm can't kill tanks by going top-down anymore even though it used to

That is by far the best looking Combo in a long time...
The 15mm gun doesn't do as much damage to tank internals as .50-cals, but at the same time it is actually surprisingly viable, if you can hit the fighting compartment and kill the crew members.
M2 .50-cal does usually have an advantage of producing a much higher volume of fire, which can probably account for a lot of its deadly effects. All in all, I feel like the MG151/15 has about similar effectiveness as you get with the two Berezin UB 12.7mm machine guns on the Yak-7B for example. The Bf 109 F-2 can kill Allied tanks (up to T-34) with the 15mm gun, and the Yak-7B can kill German tanks (up to Pz.IV) with the Berezin UB machine guns.
could we possibly have more of these videos please? really interesting to see how well two vehicles work with each other, maybe a Jumbo 76 and a P47 could be interesting to work with
They have nerfed 15mm and 20mm for far too long! Every .50cal/12.7mm is devastating compared to the 15mm's and 20mm's.
I always loved the combo vids and the German tank/planes ones were the best
The issue with the 15mm is that the shell is going so slow and it's likely just a subcaliber penetrator not a full caliber so when it does pen it is just like a laser without any fragmentation
Hey Phly! I just played with the Ho-I, the japanese PZKPFW IV E, with a great 76 mm pen heat shell. It is really unloved (I haven't seen one that wasn't controlled by me), maybe bc it is 2.0 BR. If you want to do a "Loving the unloved" episode, that little lad is one tank that truly deserves it! :D
PhlyDaily. The 15mm guns aren't bad it just you have only one of them. Be bf109f4 that can carry two is a lot better. You have to remember with the single 15mm you aren't sending as much dense fire down the line. 1 .50 cal can't kill a pz4 as fast as the 15mm but because you have 6 it is a lot easier same case for the 15mm
Phly, you know what I suggested many times already was for you to use the 109 f2. My original challenge was for you to use the rockets with 5mm pen to kill at least one thing like a open top tank or something.

The 15 mm has some insane pen its so fun you need to dive in from really high tho.

Shermans are easy to kill due to these properties,
1.) Weak armor (early BR)
2.) The crew is very tightly packed together
3.) The ammunition is so packed closely together to the crew and has almost no protection to HE or any shells shrapnel
these are all key details to how much pain us people have to go through in order to get a good tank in higher BR's, in the american tech tree.

Phly, I have a *great* idea:
So, if you check the low chassis side or rear turret/hull armor of the LEO A1, you will see hat there is only like, 50mm of armor there. My test for you is: take out the BT-5 (my favorite tank, on account of its ruggedness, speed, and quick firing gun) and try and kill some Leos! (I think it is the A1..it’s one of the two.)

Phly, I have something interesting for you to try out. Take out the BF 109 E-1 in air battles. Armed with four 7.92mm machine guns at br 2.0 it might not sound special but it's a beast at its br. The machine guns eat enemy planes for breakfast for some reason. It can win head-ons against planes with much more armament and not even A-20's stand a chance. I've been having the most fun in it for the last few days :D
Take out the NEW T-50: The T-126 and the IL-2 (1941) show your enemies that the tank should be 3.0

Type 62 and SU-6 just for fun(and haven't see a type 62 video for such a long time...)
I would imagine that a 50 cal (12.7mm) traveling at 2800 would have better penetration than a 15mm traveling at 2500 because of the higher speed and smaller diameter, both of which lend to increased penetration. That being said, I don't know the mass of the 15mm projectile and that could the factor at play here, though velocity is more important when it comes to penetration
