- Filmed over the period of a few months in and around Edinburgh by Dave Sowerby, this video of Inspired Bicycles team rider Danny MacAskill (more info at www.dannymacaskill.co.uk) features probably the best collection of street/street trials riding ever seen. There's some huge riding, but also some of the most technically difficult and imaginative lines you will ever see. Without a doubt, this video pushes the envelope of what is perceived as possible on a trials bike. #rideinspired

I discoverd that clip in 2009 with my grandfather. I was 14 yo. Grandpa was so excited during waching this clip and skills of that dude. Now my Grandfather rests in peace and I didn't know that song name is "Funeral" since today, when sounded from my speakers on Spotify and i watched the title ... I love you Grandpa. [*]

It's more of a personal preference. This Video is just legendary and brings back a lot of good memories. I know flatland, but this Video here is just a classic. It also had a huge Impact, it made street trials popular and showed the world one of the most talented riders ever to exist. I've seen many bike Videos, but this one is just my personal favourite.

Watched this video with my dad in 2009, he said it was unbelievable, great song too. It's 2019, my dad lost a battle with cancer on Oct.13th. I've had this video on repeat while at work every day since.

it's a flare. Really hard to learn to do, but after you can do it, and have enough practice, you can do it off of pretty much anything with a smooth transition slope

When I was kid, some kids down the street built a quarter pipe in their driveway. My dad wouldn't let me even *walk* over there and watch. The irony is that I stood a lot slimmer chance jacking myself up, over there, than doing stuff alone and unsupervised in parking lots and ditches. So, I always had to ride off in the opposite direction and flank around the neighborhood 🙄 They were always doing flips and crap, too. More psychological than physical.

I really hope we get a 15 or 20 year anniversary remake of this. 90% of the spots still exist and Danny has only improved over the years.

Heard this song today at a pub and it reminded me of this video. 14 years on, still one of my favorite videos on this whole site.
Me and one of my best friend discovered this masterpiece in 2009 while we were snowboarding in austria. He died from braincancer in 2014. RIP in Andy. You will never be forgotten.
As good and amazing as the other videos are, this one is still my favorite.

I still come back to this video. The video that started it all. My love for filmmaking which has provided me with a full time job, my love for extreme sports, for bikes, for Danny, and for this sport. Crazy to think how much has changed since this was released.

+Celtic Warrior That's outside the Scottish National Gallery in case anyone's interested and the bit of grass he landed on is outside the cafe so the people inside must have shit themselves. There's also a clip of him trying this exact same spot and he nearly does die, the bike frame splits in two and he goes flying on to the concrete.

Lucy D - As someone who used to live in edinburgh back when this was filmed up until a couple years, it’s amazing how I know 98% of the places. From the University to the Parliament, from Marchmont and the Meadows, to the Pool and the Standard Life offices on Lothian Road, to Gayfield square and the car park on Kings Stable Road.
I do agree though, soo much has changed now, the St James centre bridge, and Bristo Square are massively different now.
It is still however nice to know that overall Edinburgh will always realistically remain a constant wherever I go :)

holy shit i watched this video when i was like 10 and i dont think i fully realized just how fucking amazing danny really is. that flair on the tree and the ledge ride whip to ledge ride were crazy as hell, not to mention all the other crazy shit.

My dad showed me this video when i was 3 or 4 so that would be 2009 or 10 i remember watching this with him and asking to watch it almost every night, i was amazed by it. i will forever have good memories with this video. now in 2021 im 14 going to be 15 coming back to it and I now mountain bike with my dad and make even more memories.

The first stunt is so perfect. You see how insane he is, trying to land his bike on top of that thin-railed fence. We see him working at it. Then the music picks up and off we go.

12 years ago this video was created and I was sold, I begged my parents to buy me my first bmx bike because of his talented stunts. 2022 and I’m now in a career not having much time to go out and ride but I still keep up with this man, a true legend and a role model to my generation.

First year I started high school was back in 2009 a few months after this video was uploaded, we got shown this at assembly for inspiration since Danny is Scottish and the video went completely viral at the time.

I think it's because the production is 'amateur'...this is not a criticism. It just shows what impact can be made with a bit of video, great music and a genius on a bike.
The first time I saw this I remember being blown away by how fluid Danny is on a bike...and it makes everything he does look more fun.

In trials it's easier to go towards your power foot. If you notice, he rides the way a regular footed trials rider rides despite the fact he is goofy.
Is he really goofy? I mean almost all the rotation tricks he did were pedals right foot back, rotating clockwise. But then there is the oppo whip as CashlessCaptures pointed out, but the tree flair around 3:06 is oppo, too!

Appropriate he has skill in his surname, never seen anything like it. Perfect marriage between film and music, can't stop playing it, i've requested Band of Horses CD for xmas, hope the rest of the tracks measure up to The Funeral.
