Good Job! I would like to see the shift rod shortened work. I have several problem with it, cant shift correctly (all things are new wolfburgwest brand, and the gearbox is ok, tested on a beetle) . Dont know if the shifter rod should have a very little curvature. Sorry for my bad english.
    Regards

The video helps, but I was hoping to see how the area to be cut out was determined. Perhaps even if there were any tips on welding the two pieces together to come out so nice, stripping out the old pans or frame preparation. I'm looking more for how you are doing things.

when you cut the tunnel to shorten the pan, did you have to cut the internal cables and shifting rod to complete the assembly?

    What’s the pan coated with?

It's not coated. It was prepped, sealed with DP90LF and then painted with PPG Concept DCC9300 single stage paint. Coating a pan with POR15 or undercoating covers the rust, but, it only lasts for a while. This Manx is undergoing a professional restoration.
