Saw Mr. Vaughan two nights ago in Dallas at the House of Blues.. He opened for Buddy Guy. What a show. He played two old Thunderbirds tunes. My babe and The Crawl. Two of my absolute favorites. He is a master musician and a class act. A Texas and a national treasure. I just bought the Jimmie Vaughan Trio CD. It gets here tomorrow….
Jimmie is such a fantastic musician. And he's doing a great show here. Some people think he ain't no virtuoso on guitar and no good singer and compare him to his brother. He doesn't do any artistic playing. But the thing is with what he does he is really making music with soul. Plus, it takes only very few licks to hear unmistakably it's him playing. And that is both something which makes really great musicians, as opposed to capable instrumentalists and perfect performer.
johopeweisz When I was a kid, SRV was totally my guy and my Dad was WAY into Jimmie and Fabulous Thunderbirds. And I liked Jimmie but I just wasn't evolved enough yet to understand the greatness. Then Strange Pleasure came out and I was blown away.
I concur sir! For years I badmouthed Jimmie. I said he was a bum compared to his departed brother. Then I grew up, expanded my musical tastes a little and realized he was a TRUE bluesman. I now have so much respect for this man! Bless you Jimmie!!!!!!
Normally I couldn't be bothered watching any live show taken by a camcorder, phone, etc. but this one is, by far, the exception. Amazing quality. Or, as the kids say 'this video is the dog's tits'.
Believe it or not this was shot with a Samsung st200f tiny little stills camera with a built in mic. It has the ability to record clear audio even in a very loud room. I have since upgraded to a JVC EX555BU camcorder with a TASCAM TM-2X mounted on it. You can see and hear the difference in my newer vids. Thank for watching.
i can't help but notice at 1 minute 42 sec. he is clapping on the wrong beat. several other places the same thing happens. lou ann does the same thing also. perhaps it is a sync issue? maybe he is just white?
Its definitely a sync issue with the camera itself. This was shot with a small stills camera. The camera has an amazing ability to handle very loud volume without distortion it does have bit of a sync issue between the audio and video. I have since upgraded to a video camera.
