The. best. band. ever. If you saw them, say yeah! Jimmie Vaughan is the best guitarist ever. Less-is-more. Never showboated, ever. Haven'y seen/heard anyone to match them, ever. So thrilled you are posting them here. Thank you. TEAR IT UP!
This is the greatest blues bass lesson I've ever had. A proper schooling. You can transcribe everything he did on all those albums but this is another thing again. What a player.
The meaniest, grittiest, dirtiests bass player who ever took a bass had to play the Blues! The Fabulous Thunderbirds were something else!
Keith was the best bass player I have ever heard live..I`ve played classical guitar for over 50 years...have never heard anyone play the bass like him.
SO LOVELY TO SEE YOU LAUGHING WITH KEITH. Don;'t think I have ever seen a smile on Keith's face in all these years. Miss your voice and your harp so much. Thank you for the glorious music, Mr. Wilson.
This is a rare treat by a great band and wow, Jimmie was effortlessly cool. His clothes, his demeanour, everything.
this is so excellent, its like a Keith Ferguson showcase!! All I can hear is that bass!!
That groove from Keith on “ones too many” is absolutely ridiculous
T-Bird Rhythm days...
That was back when bar bands got paid $100 or more per man, were given a place to sleep, and could make a living playing several nights a week. None of that is possible anymore. The reason bands don't sound as good.
I attended LSU in Baton Rouge 1972-1979 and sew the T-Birds several times at a club called "Chief's".I spent the summer of 1977 living in Austin and saw them many times there at Antone's and elsewhere. Back to LSU in the fall of 1977 and saw them any time they came to town. Left LSU in 1979 for Houston and saw them there at Rockefeller's. This 1982 show appears to be from a club called Trinity's in Baton Rouge (possibly a successor to the Kingfish club.)
Saw them in Melbourne in 1988…. They had this hypnotic vibe where through understatement they pushed the crowd to screaming point… something about the way they swing… that combined with Jimmie’s absolute mastery of playing on the edge… this was the definitive lineup… don’t know why Jimmie left and never came back but there has never been a fitting replacement… love these guys Bassist RIP
A KILLER band they were back then! Got to see this lineup in Houston and Austin a good number of times back in the day.
t bird rhythm came out & t birds played little club in Chicago called off broadway...about 10 or 15 of my crowd was there & the t birds were kicking ass......towards the end of show I jumped up there with kim wilson during "the crawl" & sang a couple drunkn words before me & kim stumbled & fell to the ground....laughed our ass off...fuckn greatest time of my life...it was recorded for an xrt unconcert......the best...Donnie z
Kim Wilson, great singer and harmonica player.
The T-Birds and SRV and double Trouble brought the Bluse back to the fore front of popular music.met Jimmie V about 3 years ago. What a nice guy. GREAT player like SRV.
Was lucky enough to see them on a similarly small stage in London in 1980. Just before an NME piece came out that made them huge in England. Transformative night in my life. Really good human beings, too.
Keith is KING!
This wild!!! I've never seen Jimmie play lap steel guitar before!
Priceless footage - the best R n B Band bar none
