This is exactly what I needed to know! Thank you so much for the thorough explanation. You have a beautiful kitchen!!
Glad I could help! The kitchen is my favorite room in my whole house. I just love it! :)
I was thinking the same, on all you said : )
Thanks for keeping it short and simple. I learned exactly what I needed to use up the frozen tomatoes taking up room in my freezer.
Glad to help you out! :)
Thanks for this. I’ve got frozen Roma tomatoes that will be enchilada sauce tonight thanks to you!
This is great! Thank you for this video. I have so many tomatoes in my freezer. Going to give this a try.
Good luck! Let me know if you have any questions!
Super helpful! Thank you!
Glad to help out! Good luck.
Small gardener here. Husband not a tomato lover but does like things made with sauce. So I froze some of last years harvest and have been adding into jarred sauce I purchase. I recently got roasting recipe from a friend and asked about frozen. She said no, did not think they would work. Not sure why. So I just googled and here you are telling me I can use them. Thanks, simple down to the matter and I can use frozen!! Just subscribed to you too!!
Yes ma'am! So glad you found me. Freezing tomatoes always saves my tomato harvest. I dont have to worry about getting to them immediately, and instead of wasting them, the good old freezer keeps them for me, until I can get to them! :)
Thank you!! You have confirmed my suspicions so I don’t have to trial and error as much 👍🏻🤩
Happy to help.
I’m totally going to try this! I had a bumper crop last year and I just haven’t had the motivation to can them or do anything with them. I know you said within a few months, but I’m going to give a go! Thank you! So loving this channel!
Have at it! :) The "prime" window is a few months, but I've kept whole tomatoes for 6-8 months in the freezer. And they still make beautiful sauce. :)
Great, thank you so much, did not know it could be so easy! 😃Have my tomato seedlings under grow lights now for Spring. God Bless You!
Very simple, right! Good luck with your tomato growing this year!
I have seen the pains taking ways to use frozen tomatoes and where defrost then peel and thought surely don't need to peel them. When I make the sauce with fresh tomatoes I use with peel and seeds but wasn't sure if once it was frozen that would work well. Thank you for sharing this and confirming it does produce a nice sauce
I'm happy with the texture, but you should try a batch and see before making a lot! :)
@@atraditionallife858thank you for responding 6:45 🙂 another question, if you can the tomato sauce it’s better not to add other ingredients like garlic and herbs?
This was very helpful. Thank you.
Glad it could make things easier for you in the kitchen! :)
Great video! Did give those tomatoes a quick rince before you put them in the freezer? Thanks
Very helpful. I froze a bunch of tomatoes from last harvest and need to use them up. Just wasn’t sure if I needed to take the skins off when placing them in water or not. Thank you for this. Do you have a video on how to water bath tomato seeds for canning?
Glad to help. Exactly what do you mean by "water bath tomato seeds for canning?" Did you mean tomato puree? The only place I have a video showing you how to can tomato puree is in my Water Bath Canning for Beginners course. It's on sale now if you're interested? You'll learn lots of tips and tricks for preserving all kinds of foodstuff! :) Check it out here: atraditionallife.thrivecart.com/water-bath-canning-for-beginners/
This is what I'm doing right now with last summers tomatoes of all kinds even cherry tomatoes, I cored mine before freezing. It turns out delicious.
Isn't it wonderful you can make your sauce later in the year, after all the rush of gardening season is over? I've only ever done this with paste tomatoes, but I'm sure cherry tomatoes would add delicious flavor to a sauce. :)
Thank you for this video. I am going to try this tomorrow. Where can i find a link to your blog for the full recipe?
It was in the description below the video, but I'll share it here too: atraditionallife.com/how-to-make-homemade-tomato-sauce-with-frozen-tomatoes/
Love it! Thank you so much
Glad to help!
Can you cool the sauce down and freeze it with the additives, or is it best to freeze it without the additives and add them when you make your sauce?
I like to freeze it with salt, herbs and garlic, so it's ready to go when I thaw it out. :)
I like to decant a lot of the 'tomato water' as they're thawing in the stock pot. Less water to have to evaporate later.
That's a great tip! There is a lot of water you can pour off if you thaw them first.
I cook mine down with the liquid in a slow cooker with the lid, tilted off or completely off. That water has a ton of flavor in it.!
@@wendylambel39 just be aware you will lose flavor in the finished product if you pour the cooked liquid off.
Can I add fresh basil?
Sure can! The only herb I wouldn't recommend if you're planning to refreeze it is sage. Good luck!
Will an emulsion blender work for the blending???
I've never tried with an immersion blender. I imagine it would take a while to puree everything, but let me know how it goes if you try! :)
Why are the tomatoes only good in the freezer for about 6 months? I am hoping to do this with some that are about a year old.
If they're package in some way, they will last for longer than 6 months. Some years, I just throw whole tomatoes in a box or bin and freeze them without any cover. You do need to be careful to freezer burn in that case.
The first thing you put into the sauce
I added fresh garlic, dried oregano from the gardens and some paprika. :) You can get the full recipe in the description box above. :)
