It breaks my heart, every time I'm confronted, with the ease, at which we discarded, all the things that made our shared Lousiana culture the most rich and diverse in the entire country. The old store fronts slowly crumbling into obscurity, seem to be a fitting representation of the all encompassing, constant march forward into modernity. Piece by piece the stones our ancestors molded into something amazing, get replaced by monuments built to be torn down long before they can hold any whisper of memory.

I'm from Tennessee where my Scottish family has been for 300yrs, yes 300yrs. But, I met my best friend in high school when his family moved up here from Lockport, LA.
After we graduated in 1988 we began traveling down to Houma, Raceland and Lockport to visit his family and I fell in love with SE Louisiana. I spent most of the 1990s down in Bayou LaFouche & Bayou Blue and Terrebone, even learned how to go "crabbing" with some fishing line, chicken necks and a net.
My home is in Tennessee but my heart remains in Houma, Louisiana.
I love you all more than you will know and Thank You for taking in this green-eyed, blonde-headed Hillbilly from Tennessee and treating him as one of your own.

I love the miniature Leeville Mr Boudreaux is building at 16:00. I wish he would add name and business shingles to the buildings as he retells the story of each building's occupant.

Closed captioning would have been nice. This is an important story in Louisiana history.

Audio cuts in and out. But still interesting. Wish they could repair it.

It’s due to a song that was in the tv show that LPB doesn’t have the internet rights to. I guess instead of dubbing over it they just left silence.
