I love being in small old fashion towns, especially when the city have dirt roads and alot of pine trees ...To me small country towns are better because there's no noise pollution like Big Cities, the police don't fuck with you ,and you can have space to have a big barbecue with your fam..
Actually the police are far more likely to fuck with you here rather than a big city due to the fact that there is small area to cover and often too many officers per citizen. Small towns in south Louisiana are the complete opposite place you want to be if you don't want police to bother you.

Rain. A lot of Louisiana is at or below sea level. Once the ground gets too saturated, it starts to pool and flood. They call it “low country” in some parts.
The land changes over time in places where the top soil is clay, sand, or loose dirt. The rainwater erodes the sediments banks next to rivers, bayou’s, and lakes leading “bowls” as the drainage gets backed up. Years later, small hills will form in other areas from as those sediments deposit on top of each other from currents carrying them from another area.
You have to take this video with a grain of salt lol there's SEVERAL nice looking homes in rayne. Towards the end of the video if he would've turned right and keep going there's nothing but big ass homes next to the train tracks. Not sure why he only showed a small section of broken down homes

Hell across the tracks theres nothing but well made built homes. Rayne is nowhere closed to being hood now, the police steady patrolling now. 10-12 years ago though this place was a mess. Thanks I live in Rayne we pide ourselves on keeping it clean even tho it's got so.e poverty

That was my first thought when I saw the title
Many (battered) homes built slightly off the ground - must be a lot of standing water there whenever it raynes!
Most of the homes are on pilings. I guess the area floods. Where does the water come from?

check out the cemetery. When the water table is 1/2 inch below, caskets tend to work their
way up like a cork. A cement vault helps prevent that.
Its not about flooding its just cheaper to build them that way
