I grew up in the south of Baton Rouge and not the northern part where you are filming. One interesting thing can be seen is in the first few blocks from the Exxon refinery. Through the 1960s, many of the refinery systems became automated and less workers were needed. That area started to lose population. Because every few years there would be an explosion at EXXON and there was a need to reduce liability payouts to the residents, the company bought out the houses and lots near the plant and bulldozed them. So now there are all of these lots which have driveways, but are like a parkland. It isn't like the usual decayed and abandoned urban areas.
South baton rouge was awsome back in the day I herd all kind of storys I'm a country rapper from br I herd I was dixie flags and country bars and old school choppers back in its heyday which was 70 and 80 but declined late 80s early 90s
I graduated from Lee High in 1976 which used Dixie Flags. We had a lot of the kids from LSU professors, chemists at the plants and the professional classes. A couple of years later, the Baton Rouge magnet school opened and took many of these kids while many of the White people fled to further out in the Parish and Livingston Parish. I like Metal and Classical Music.@@WyteXLighting
I just moved from BR after living there for 17 years. I do not miss it... at all. Unfortunately it's very normal there for people in the hood to live in run down homes with nice ass cars parked out front.
@@macrc2129 i would assume that every country may have some bad areas, but russia overall is not that bad, it's kind of advanced, i mean, they hosted 2018 world cup, this should tell you something, it was a great world cup, but obviously not as good as 2022 world cup, yes, russia have some bad areas, just like any other country, but overall russia is not that bad, is my point,

Hi . I watch Hoodtime too but I personally like Charliebo a lot better . They both have fascinating videos . Very relaxing content . Safe from the couch too
This is actually nice beautiful autumn trees it look like a typical southern hood with a Jacksonville twist I like that dude nussie that came from BR he was a real one RIP
Baton Rouge has a nice side and a really awful side. One side pays for the majority of the city while the other is continuing to destroy itself. The majority of the population keeps voting in the worst people possible making the problems worse. The part that's decent wants to break away from the other part (which is understandable at this point). I can tell you the worst part of BR is worse than the worst part of New Orleans. Crazy times
So ig in Texas and parts of NM theres small towns called “Colonias” the largest is currently being built outside of Huston called Colony Ridge with 45k-75k people living there. They sell empty lots to immigrants at ridiculous interest rates and they get to build their own home. Theres no zoning laws in these colonias so some lots are tents or shacks while others are complete homes. They claim the cartel controls at least half of colony ridge and are paying off local politicians. The sheriff for Cleveland Texas claims there are potentially 100k people living in 6 subdivisions of colony ridge. Locals claim the area looks insanely run down and is dangerous. You could be the first to cover it! Next time you take a trip to Houston might be worth chexking out
Not to mention theres no electricity, plumbing, or sewage in most of these developments so theres been reports of shit overflowing into the dirt roads over there. You also dont need a social security number to get approved for a lot. You only need $500. It sounds pretty crazy to me anyway
I'm in Houston , too. This area also reminded me of the Colonias. The level of poverty in those areas is shocking! Unlike anything I've seen in the U.S.
What that is crazy affordable living. sounds like switching over to me. the people today hear story's of these old towns used to be bikers and country bars and dixie flags and all and to top it of it was built in western days alot of people want to come back to a place like this cheap and everything u can't beat it Wyle some pay 300k and more. So give it to the outlaws then and now to make affordable living happen. and I see something differnt soon right on theirs goods and bads to everything.
Why you call it run down & dirty before you say things about sqaullor if they're happy there, let them be happy. Its hard pulling up roots , its not that easy. Thinm about it. Dont say nothing until you walk in in their shoes, boots. I feel down about the way they live. I grew up like that. It was a hard life but we survive. Our dad move us til he found a job. My parents stayed together til they went home. So dont judge poeple how they dress talk and live. Be kind to all living things. God & .jesus will be there for you.

I live between BR and NOLA in a college town called Hammond, but some of these places are so foreign to me. Like there's no reason to go there. I've been to some questionable places, like in the downtown area, but never wherever this is.
I'm surprised he hasn't rode through Brookstown yet lol. It's REAL ghetto through there. Definitely one of the places I avoided driving through. It's rough asf out there.

People got different priorities. They would rather be seen in a nice car than living in a nice house. House = asset = equity. Cars = dead capital
is like a 3rd world country, but with nice cars

I was thinking the same every house got nice new cars in the yard
Every time
Moro no Brasil e literalmente essas casas são melhores que as daqui 😊 , sem muros , e com estilo colonial ❤
Exactly! What a sad shame.
Everyone saying the cars are nice? Mid-00s GM products? I mean they’re clean but the south don’t have any snow/salt so cars stay nicer
The funny thing is, most f these neighborhoods are actually quite beautiful, and could be even moreso, if they were just cleaned up.
you drive slow when you see run-down houses and fast when you see nice ones. show the whole area nice and not so nice,

Oh if you think this is bad go take a look at plank rd in Baton Rouge that’s bad don’t want to go down there at night.
At least people are housed in the city people are in tents😢

I guess nice cars are more important than a decent house
You nailed it
Right cuz you can buy a decent house for the price of one of those cars…?? Don’t even make sense…
Hood people, cant pay the rent but can buy rims
What nice cars
Cars = dead capital
Houses = asset = equity
The mindset needs to change

Yup. Ain’t no way a white guy can wear a David Duke shirt there

Relatively close to downtown. Right after LSU is the hood. It’s not even a transition
It’s literally a melting pot of neighborhoods in most cities here. Highways don’t separate the rich areas from more run down parts of town.
