Lalo was mainly born and raised in Massachusetts most of his life I believe.

The fact that hector is given the possibility to survive the pipe bomb while gus' face is blown off is kinda funny to me. Especially since he is the one directly above the bomb like he was a gmod character before detonating it.

The news report after this scene mentions 3 people dying from an explosion, it’s obvious that Tyrus, Gus and Hector all died from the explosion. Also a severed leg falls down from the ceiling, which seems to be Hector’s leg.
Gus’s blown up face was done by Greg Nicotero who does the Walker effects in The Walking Dead, as well as doing the zombie effects in Day Of The Dead (1985) he was a like a student for Tom Savini who did effects on films such as Dawn Of The Dead (1978) Friday The 13th (1980) among other things
