You must be 75years of age now Sir. I wish you good health and many years of hearing this Akkamahadevi Vachana. I am 67 Sir and I too heard Pandit Ji teaching Marubihag and this Iconic Vachana to my cousin Sadhana Pandit (Bless her wonderful soul), I was a 6year old then. My prayers for your good health.
In this Vachana; Akka Mahadevi (AM) is telling her elder sister (Akka) a dream that she had. In her dream she sees auspicious items such as rice (akki), beetle nuts (adike) and coconut (thengina kayi). She also sees a tall and handsome begger (gorava) who has plaited hair (chikka chikka jade) and good looking teeth (sulipalla) coming to her door steps. When she comes out of her house to give alms, she sees the beggar has already left and is walking away. Just then she realizes that the begger is none other than the Lord SHIVA. She runs behind the beggar and holds his hand and looks at him (Chenna Mallikarjuna). Right at that moment her dream ends and she opens her eyes. What a miracle! Can you imagine seeing and holding hands of Lord SHIVA, for whom you have been worshiping all your life? I have no words to explain that moment Akka Mahadevi experienced. Hats off to Mallikarjuna Mansur for singing this Vachana.
I listened this song in my childhood on doordarshan national classical music program at night with half awakened state because my father was used to listen
Mesmerizing voice great rendition and he has done justice to Akka's vachana perhaps no other musicians can sing so effectively as Mallikarjunji because it is written in his mother tongue
What an excellent, divine, spiritual, vachana by Akka Mahadevi sung by Pt Mansur, a spiritual delight: Please upload similar vachanas sung by Pt Mansur at AIR Dharwar.
@@BjkxeDKjsje This is sung/composed by the great saint, female poet of the 12th Century, Akka Mahadevi. The meaning of the short poem, roughly, is as follows: "O my elder sister, I [just] saw a dream! I saw rice, betel nut, and coconut [all symbols of auspiciousness]. And I saw a mendicant with short tufts of hair come for begging - the one who is beyond [anyone's reach]. I chased him and caught his hand [realizing that it's Shiva Himself].'
