Only 5 lines with a story twist in the last one. Here goes:
    Akka, I saw a dream
I saw rice, betelnut and coconut (the good stuff)
I saw a Gorava (a herder community that worships Mailara Linga) man with braided hair who came begging
I chased him and held his hand
That’s when I saw Chennamallikarjuna (Shiva) and opened my eyes.

Guys, additional info that’s exciting! Every Shivasharana Vachana is a little story with a surprise twist in the end, conveying a profound message. The ending will leave you mesmerized and sometimes even laughing. Such is the beauty of Vachana Sahitya.

In this Vachana; Akka Mahadevi (AM) is telling her elder sister (Akka) a dream that she had. In her dream, she sees auspicious items such as akki (rice), adike (beetle nuts), and thenginakayi (coconut). She also sees a tall and handsome gorava (beggar) who has chikka chikka jade (plaited hair) and good-looking teeth (sulipalla) coming to her doorstep begging. When she comes out of her house to give alms, she sees the beggar has already left and is walking away. Just then, she realizes that the beggar is none other than the Lord SHIVA. She runs behind the beggar, holds his hand, and looks at him (Chenna Mallikarjuna). Right at that moment, her dream ends, and she opens her eyes. What a miracle! Can you imagine seeing and holding hands with Lord SHIVA, for whom you have been worshiping all your life? I have no words to explain that moment that Akka Mahadevi experienced.

I want to translate but it's hard even for a Kannada speaker. One should have very sound knowledge of the colloquial Kannada. I'll try and do that. Wait for it. It's a 12th century song and its3not easy to translate. At least spiritually. It needs Indian context, that too of the region from where it comes from.

I read from another thread by a Mr ramachandra. This is a beautiful song with a deep meaning. Its a dream initially..then the mortal being through the heart desires lust.. with the begging gorava. Then she realises...to get rid of the lust which was following her to finally see chennamallikarjuna from her inner eye and truly open them.

why to compare? You can just say how this performance is. If you compare, we get nothing but hatred. If they really screw it up, you could say it. other wise enjoy or leave it. as simple as it.

@@parthasarathy.chakravarthy3002 comparison does not amount hatred. I will not be hearing this rendition again and again. I am hearing ORU MURAI or Ek Nazar repeatedly.
