It's pretty much the same thing on my 1996 Honda Accord. Was really hesitant about doing it myself, but after watching this I went and did this and it took me about 5 minutes to install the new one.
Also, make sure you blow compressed air through the port of the MAP sensor. Mine clogged when I cleaned out the EGR port and was running rough like a MAP sensor issue.
not sure if you guys gives a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream all the latest series on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my gf for the last couple of days =)
keep doing some videos!!! you helped me out alot on how to check my P0171 code on my honda!!! now i can diagnose my map sensor to see if its up to par! i wish i could donate to your channel!!! thanks a million!
Thanks for the video. You are right, nowhere in youtube can you see map sensor failure shown and fixed all in one post. This helped me in my map sensor problem with my Ranger.
I use a propane bottle with a hose connected to it, start the engine and open the propane valve and move the hose around intake manifold and all intake hoses, if you hear the idle speed up you have found the leak. Tighten or replace gasket to correct the problem. Always works for me. Good Luck!
Excellent video with exactly what I was searching for on how to test the hardware. It saved me and gave me the direction I needed. I had the following Check Engine Light (CEL) code : P0108 "Manifold Absolute Pressure".
Hello! i have a honda 1996 ek3 and it seems to have a rough idle with multiple misfiring and black smoke. But no error codes! using an OBD1 scanner shows that there is an more than normal value on the MAP reading. Cross checked with 2 same make and model cars and the only seem to have a value of around 30 to 40 on idle where as my car (via OBD scanner) shows values around 65 to 75 so far we have: replaced MAP sensor 3 times cleaned throttle body checked for timing issues checked ignition spark issues checked for injector issues check temp sensor checked for clogged CAT replaced wire harness checked for valve leaks replaced ecu and back to the original one please note this is on idle speed only, and on high rpm the roughness goes away Please help Thank you!
If the map sensor is bad the car has a problem to start when is cold or even if just cool down? Cuz mine start all fonky the first time then it gets back to normal.
You're awesome! I hope you do more videos. My car idles way great, has a little more power, and doesn't smell like it's running too rich. I also got my check engine light off and I'm confident it'll pass smog. For future reference I really like it when people use the fast forward for things that take a minute to two. Having said that, your video is well done and cuts to the chase very quickly with step by step how to do it! Thanks so much-T.
BROOO THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I thought I was going crazy when codes would pop up Immediately after I cleared codes! I couldn't find anything online I don't really have any Mechanic friends I'm broke XD Got my car running dude really thank you so much!
Hey man, perfect vid. I'm not popping a code but my idle surges up and down at stop lights so I'm thinking this might be the culprit. Thanks for the vid.
Had same problem. There's an idle control valve. Has screw at end. Clean everything. Loosen the screw a little. It's behind the cap at the end. Good luck.
Nice work man, you're right.. Not a lot of videos for the more technical stuff. But its probably due to people don't want to get called out on problems the viewer might have.
could this cause a 1995 civic EX to throw my A/F mixture off to the point that its running so rich that it bogs down has trouble accelaterating unburnt fuel coming out the exhaust? I have replaced plugs wires dizzy fuel and air filter. I believe it is some sort of sensor. I was thinking 02 or map sensor.
2000 Honda accord sedan ex 4 cylinders - majority of the time stalls or tries to when going into a stop, drives fine without any issues. While in park (Idle) it won’t shut only when pump the gas and let the gas go and it shuts off. Autozone checked in with some car codes P0303/P1491/P0401. ?
can my map sensor be causeing my 99 honda civic ex to not go past 5000 rpms? its not vtech and its not an si. its got a d15b7 engine in it and a recent scan says that my map sensor and intake temp sensor and bad. my car dosent even have the intake temp sensor but no symptoms match up to that sensor that im having.
Wow wonderful explanation will try what you showed on your video I have a meter but was not sure what to set it at to read the voltage will let you know how it turns out
I failed the first test... My connector was giving 2.5 on one and the other was giving 2.25-2.5 and the ground didn't beep. Is this an easy fix? Should I bring it to a mechanic? How much would the wiring be?
I have back probed my map sensor but I get 2.5 volts instead of 5. I checked all wires for obvious breaks and couldnt find anything. It may just be the map sensor because the voltage wouldnt move when I put a vaccum to it, and it wouldnt hold a vaccum. what would be my next step? Why would I only have 2.5 volts going to sensor?
Very nice video. I have problems of idle speed and hesitation on my honda del sol but I don't know if the map sensor is bad or the idle speed valve is bad. May be both of them.
first of all, it's a great method of diagnostic. I have a 97 . it has fuel. How do you properly diagnose a no spark condition on it? if you can provide a step by step instructions. . . I would appreciate it very much. . .
My MAP Sensor's plug, ground wire, showed 1.85 ohms of resistance with the key ON/ car not running. BUT,...with the key off it shows 0 (zero) ohms. I tried back probing the MAP connector and get the same results. I AM getting a 5.2 volt reference voltage, and (with the MAP unplugged) NO voltage on the signal wire. Please correct me if I'm wrong,.... this means my PCM (ECU) is fried on the circuit...?
First of all thanks for all your videos I learn a lot from them but i am having some problems with my Toyota super charger 16 valve engine its not idling it has airflow meter I don't what's really wrong
ive got a 94 1.6 that almost everytime i drive it hot or cold it likes to try and die at random times, does it when ive let off the gas with clutch in regardless off speed. more so in the cold weather then not. it will do it almost everytime when warming up and when it does happen its does its when ive pushed in the clutch. i can almost tell if and when its going to do it depending on how its reving, somtimes i can keep it from dying but working all three peddles in a parking lot or in a line with other vehicles leaving work can be a chore. it only does it for a few seconds and then goes back to running like it should. but if in the occasion it dies before i have a chance to stop it, it can be a pain to start back up and when i does it acks like its flooded for a sec, that only happends if im not moving fast enough to pop the clutch to force it to start back up. any ideas?
My dodge dakota had a bad map sensor, it would just die on me and had and didnt want to start up again. Just got a 95 dx d15b7. Well, it doesnt wana start, when i DO get it to start it has a high idle. Think its possible the map sensor is bad? Im about to do this test
My wife honda 97 have bad idle in third gears it misfire a little and then runs normal and when is Parked is start to go up and down the idle but the thing is that it dont have a check engine light should i chance the map sensor first still of what should i do
Hi Friend, thanks for sharing this video... I have a question... may be you can help me... I have an Honda Civic 1999 LX, and I have a big problem with the fuel consumption, I have check engine light on and shows the codes P0170 and P0172. Some way of what I can do and what parts would need changing to work normally. I will appreciate your answer.
MAP sensors usually fail due to oil contamination, this oil contamination usually stems from exisive blow by. This is when they fail their found oil soaked. Furthermore, this issue of oil contamination is found on older high mileage vehicles.
what problems will a bad map sensor create? my 97civic ex idle surges intermittant, and acts like im letting go of the thottle while driving, randomly, and today it was very high rpm for no reason, while driving, but at a stop it would go back down to normal levels. i have replaced the TPS, and have been told to clean and or replace the IAC, and also check the fast idle valve to see if it needs tightened, but i cant seem to find it in my chiltons, and no videos showing where to look specifically
I have Honda Accord 2003, I have noticed same issue. But, engine check lights not appear continuesly, it's comes very rare times when I'm driving it's just blick all the mitters and goes off my music for while it looks like tripping. then after that engine lights continues to shows on. If I turn off engine for more then half hour then engine lights goes off for someday, it's happening after weeks/months in my car I took it to Honda dlear they did not see how engine lights comes up because that time engine lights was gone off I showed them video they said it's problem with computer system so need to replace ECM/PCM it costs expensive, I don't think it's problem with Computer or need to change ecm/PCM. Please suggest me how to figure out the problem, -Regards .
Video is 10 years old. I’m 23 been in the industry about 4 years. You sir are very intelligent.
It's pretty much the same thing on my 1996 Honda Accord. Was really hesitant about doing it myself, but after watching this I went and did this and it took me about 5 minutes to install the new one.
great information and explanations with voltage drop related to vacuum on Map sensor, much respect.
Also, make sure you blow compressed air through the port of the MAP sensor. Mine clogged when I cleaned out the EGR port and was running rough like a MAP sensor issue.
Thank you, Im chasing down a nasty idle surge and this will help eliminate potential issues
Thanks for posting a video on how to test a MAP sensor!
not sure if you guys gives a shit but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream all the latest series on instaflixxer. Been binge watching with my gf for the last couple of days =)
@Tony Fox definitely, I've been using Instaflixxer for months myself :)

Thanks for the video. A good advice would be rev the car before changing the sensor so we can see the symptoms of a bad map sensor.
Damn dude. This is an old video, but still the only video on this subject for b series. Thank you so much
Still on 2020 and your video helped a guy on Brazil!! Thanks a lot
Excellent video with exactly what I was searching for on how to test the hardware. It saved me and gave me the direction I needed. I had the following Check Engine Light (CEL) code : P0108 "Manifold Absolute Pressure".
Thank You so much for this video.... It helped me change out the map sensor in my 98 Honda and it is running great now....
Great job man clearly executed for everyone to understand thanks.
Best how-to for replacing a map sensor...good job

Cross checked with 2 same make and model cars and the only seem to have a value of around 30 to 40 on idle where as my car (via OBD scanner) shows values around 65 to 75
so far we have:
replaced MAP sensor 3 times
cleaned throttle body
checked for timing issues
checked ignition spark issues
checked for injector issues
check temp sensor
checked for clogged CAT
replaced wire harness
checked for valve leaks
replaced ecu and back to the original one
please note this is on idle speed only, and on high rpm the roughness goes away
Please help
Thank you!
same problem with my 99 si honda civic. thanks for the video and ill do what you just did.
gogoy dollaga did u find out what was wrong? Same got a 99 si with same problem p1107 cide

Very detailed and informative video! Excellent work!
Hey man, perfect vid. I'm not popping a code but my idle surges up and down at stop lights so I'm thinking this might be the culprit. Thanks for the vid.
this or idle air control
@@chocolatetampon4492 no it could be a vacuum leak
Had same problem. There's an idle control valve. Has screw at end. Clean everything. Loosen the screw a little. It's behind the cap at the end. Good luck.
THANKYOU FOR THIS VIDEO YOU REALLY KNOW WHAT KIND OF VIDEOS LOAD TO YOU TUBE BROTHER...TANKS AGAIN THIS HELPS A LOT
Verry helpful video found my maf sensor was defective ordered a new one 👍
Great video . I’m going home to troubleshoot shoot that way you just did .
If you disconnect a MAP while the car is running, should the engine stop? Or is that only a MAF diagnosis?
You're the man! Stupid little sensor is a big pain in the ass. Appreciate you
Finally I can fix my ek hatch. I replaced the same parts b4 I found the issue.
Nice work man, you're right.. Not a lot of videos for the more technical stuff. But its probably due to people don't want to get called out on problems the viewer might have.
Thanks alot man ,rlly appreciate it. 🙏🏼 hope ur doing alright.
Excellent video, you explain everything so thoroughly. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for making this, I have this exact problem with my 92

What if you test the connecter that connects to the map sensor and it reads zero
i have same proble whit my
honda civic 2000..
now i have idea
great video thks
Thanks for showing how to test the map sensor.
Thanks a lot to this video. Same problem with my civic and i found out that the center pin. Ground was lose contact. Now its ok.
Thanks a million!! (Or $75 anyway). I've looked everywhere for a simple vid like this on the civic!
good video very clear and straightforward very helpful thanks for posting

I loved the video, any idea where the map sensor would be on a 1989 honda accord?
Great information, was very helpful ~ thank you for posting this!
Wow wonderful explanation will try what you showed on your video I have a meter but was not sure what to set it at to read the voltage will let you know how it turns out
Thanks for the upload!! Very informative
muy buen video amigo ... una pregunta? donde compraste el scaner me gustaria adquirirlo
Very helpful thanks for the video
SUPER AWESOME video,Thanks dude
this a great video and very helpful for me as well.. thank you!

keep making video sir it's really help a lot...
very helpful and very doable. thanks for making this video!
Should the map sensor be clean because i took mine off and it was filled with grease
Great video !!! Now I know what to do , having the same problem .
one more question how long after installing a map sensor will the car be running back to normal like in choking and hesitate to go away?

thanks a lot boss!!!! best map sensor video
thanks for the video. it really came in handy
Thank you for this video it was helpful.
Will this work on a map sensor for 99 Acura 2.3 CL
Think you think you. Keep it coming bro happy New year
how can i check for vacuum leaks cause i replace the map sensor on my 94 honda ex engine and code 5 stil showing. pls help.
How do you get code on Honda 1994 😊 And find the thing to get the code 😊
You should see results in the idle immediately, as long as the map sensor is the problem.
Really well done video. Thanks!
Very nice video im subscribed!
how much weight does your box hold ? i mean your rice box btw.. i want a big box of rice just like yours sir
what is that sensor thats inside the intake itself? the side of the air intake
Air temp sensor?
Muito bom, me ajudou bastante um abraço do 🇧🇷

Dipesh pandey did you fix it
Great video man! Thanks for posting it
My D16y8 has a high idle and the infamous idle surge. Can't figure it out. No CEL on.
Thanks for this
Thank u, this was so easy to follow, my connector did not pass the continuity test, 😢 wat then???
Right on Brother- Great Video Explanation!
can u show how to install gm 3/4bar map sensor on honda??
thanks man you are a profetional grey video thanks so much and keep doing more videos like this thanks again
