    Haven't fished with one of those in probably close to 40 years. As a kid i remember catching a lot of bass and pike on them in the lilypads. Always had a uncle josh pork rind for a trailer.

      That pork rind trailer is a good idea. I’ve seen the classic uncle Josh trailers have come back in stock in stores recently. That may be my next test with the silver minnow. Thanks for checking the video out!

      @@Eightmile_Drifter Im telling you Bro, use the Ripple Rind in White or Chart. if its available again. Its a killer combo and indestructable unlike plastics.

    The Johnson silver minnow you are showing, is a quality build. They soldered the hook on straight, didn't GLOB Exessive solder on it , AND, the right amount on the front eyelet section. I CULL, Through them in the store, because the " QUALITY CONTROL" , Is lacking at times. Finally .... they basically copied the dardevle spoon , as far as the 35 degree side to side wobble. Lou Eppinger had that figured out Long before these came along, BUT THEY WORK AWSOME!!!

      I’d love to find some of those really old Eppinger spoons, I bet they were all built right. Quality control goes out the window once things get made over seas. Have you ever tried Nemire spoons? They have a rattle chamber in them and wobble pretty wide?

    • @eugenegress5896
      @eugenegress5896 Месяц назад

      @Eightmile_Drifter No, I will have to look them up, familiarize myself wirh them. Speaking of Eppinger,, I use to speak With Owner, " Karen Eppinger" quite a bit. There product is still U.S.A. made. They also make a weedless spoon that rocks back and forth like silver minnow. True, alot of Lure Mfg have gone over seas, and down hill. Its a discrace. Storm Hot&Tots, owned by Rapala, are not 100 percent same dimensions, as well as other Lures. Sickening.

    They work great for dragging across the top of pads and matted weeds as well. I usually fish them with a spinnerbait skirt or a white twister tail grub as a trailer.

      I’ve been finding they work great in those situations as well. It’s a presentation that not a lot of bass see anymore.

    That silver minnow is the right stuff. I love mine. You can cut that wire half way and put a small bend in it. Then add a 6-7 “ worm with a curly tail. Add the worm and it will go any place. Plus the worm draws bass like crazy.

      Haven’t used a worm that long on mine but I may have to give it a shot. I love how weedless the spoon is. Thanks for checking out the video!

    It's even more weedless if you point the guard directly at the hook point. The way you have it, grass can still get under the guard and find the hook. Still works pretty good, though.

      That makes sense, I guess I try to run it how a standard bass jig with a brush guard looks. I’ll have to try that. Thanks for the tip!

    You certainly picked a weedy spot to test that flutter spoon. I have one of these somewhere in an old dusty tackle box.

    One of my go to lures for Bass and Striper. Its almost impossible to hang one up without putting some effort in it. When Uncle Josh used to make "ripple rind" that you could add as a trailer, this combo was devastating on bass in even the thickest of cover!

    • @Eightmile_Drifter
      @Eightmile_Drifter  7 месяцев назад +1

      Had to look up that ripple rind. Looks similar to the tail of a ribbon tail worm. I bet that would be a good tough trailer. Maybe uncle Josh will get back into making them and I can give them a try. Thanks for the tip. I may try a ribbon tail from a worm as a substitute and see how it works.

      @@Eightmile_Drifter Looks like the company Fat Cow is making Uncle Josh's Pork rind trailers again. I just ordered the small white strips off Amazon. Pork rind is better than a plastic bait trailer as it is almost impossible to destroy it!
