i love her positivity, enthusiasm and happiness. in a place where you have a lot of sick people around you and they’re probably stressed and worried about what’s going on with their health, you have to know how to manage to be on that mood to pass this feeling to the patients. i wish all the success!
Violin MD hello I'm Robert I'm from Australia I'm in my second year as a surgical resident, how did you find ICU ? How does your rotations work over there when you graduate do you get a choice or is it all assigned to you ? You have a beautiful personality to be a doctor in anaesthetic medicine.
Watching your channel lowers my anxiety about seeing my doctor. I realize that his demeanor is probably due to stress sometimes, and seeing all the things you need to deal with makes me empathize with doctors more. I think we should all make it a point to say thank you to our doctors.
I spent something like 22 days in ICU last year after a traumatic brain injury and it was there I seen all the crazy medical instruments and all the drs and nurses and “residents” as I guess they’re called! My family was told I would most likely remember nothing of the ICU since the injury was so severe, but once I woke up on day 18 I was pretty much good! And that’s where my love and passion for the medical field started, with the severity of my tbi and facial surgeries a got to under go a lot of really interesting medical procedures and was able to talk to all of my drs and surgeons about each surgery, something I was completely taken by, how great I was treated and and how freaking awesome a good surgeon/nurse is! The surgeons to me did the cooler stuff but the nurses kept me comfortable and sane all while providing top medical care tending to my many incisions/ wounds, keeping me clean and fed while I was unable to move, sometimes actually running around the clock to keep my IV’s flowing with the meds I needed to survive (something my mother will never forget, watching a nurse run basically her entire shift, trying to keep up with my IV bags, as I had (8?) going at once so as soon as soon as she would get back with the meds another bag would run out and she would be off again!) so since I was coming back to consciousness I quickly caught on to how hard these people were working to treat me and like I said before I was completely taken by these actions of others, so much so that I’m proud to say, for one, that I’m even able to write this! And then two, I have completed nursing assistant classes and I will be starting my career in the medical field hopefully within this month! I plan to work as a CNA for a year or so to get my “footing” for what I’m doing, and then I plan on going back to school to become a RN, or maybe a trauma surgeon of some type? Idk I still have a lot to learn and plenty of time to do that, and I’m taking my second chance at life to do everything I’ve ever wanted to do and also become the best version of myself, something I wish I did the first time around but I’m grateful every day that I’m here, and knowing that just 9 months ago I was having my final arrangements planned out for the worst case scenario, makes even life’s lowest lows just a little bit easier for me to handle! Since I feel like “I’m not even supposed to be here, so I’m just happy to be experiencing anything really” thank you for posting this video it was a such a great reminder of my time at my beloved hospital and it also helped me get a better shot of what actually went down while I was sleeping and coughing out my breathing tubes! Lol thank you @violinMD ❤️
Dont ever lose your comforting down to earth bedside manner.your personality is very welcoming.so refreshing yet becoming more uncommon among a lot of doctors.thank you for all you do!
What an incredibly positive and uplifting video. I am a violist, and have a dad with a severe condition in the hospital and I am learning much about the way things work.
Heyyyyyy, as always amazing video!! I got so exited when you said " second year" that's awesome. I'm actually an EMT and its nice to see what happens to a patient after being treated in the field by EMS personnel and see medical treatment from a different point of view. Thanks for the videos!
Hi Alexis - I actually wish I could see more of what happens in the field!! we did do some shadowing in medical school and Ioved travelling around with EMS!
Hopefully you can do more field time! it is fun and very fast pace. i absolutely love being out in the field, i'm going back and forth with going back to school for either medic or nursing!
I would really like to say thank you to you for making these videos, because I found them a few months ago and watched them for fun. But more recently I ended up being taken to hospital in an ambulance and stayed in hospital for over two weeks, and having already watched videos about doctors in hospitals it made me more understanding and feel more comfortable whilst being quite unwell. So I thank you so much
music.saves. us. Literally SAME! I’m so scared in going to medical field😪 (I’m a senior in high school) but when watch her videos she inspires me to persuade my dream in being a Surgeon one day!
Violin MD btw can you make a video where you ask friends if it was difficult to them to interact with people when you are from another country? (I’m Mexican so I have this terrible accent) and spelling and everything lmao I hope you see this and I made sense
You are a treasure to healthcare. Your attitude is contagious. I work CV ICU and personalities affect patients even when we don't realize it. You keep doing what you're doing and you'll grow more and more as a practioner
Love that more people from your team are being introduced in your videos lately! It really gives a great perspective of how you all work together to help the patient! It would be great to see/feature more of them like the pharmacists, nurses, technicians, etc. Great work!! ♥️
Thank you so much for making these, I am a nurse-midwife student from finland, going into my surgery placement. I appreciate these so much as I tend to be very nervous around anything new and your videos normalize the situation for me, so I can actually behave in the way that is required of me instead of panicing in the corner having a vasovagal episode. Thank you so much again and please keep making content
RN here and let met tell you being in ICU is the best, the thrill in ICU is nothing as to compare to other departments. I love your videos Doc! 🙌 and your personality is so pleasing!
Omg I fell in love with you the first video I saw. I’ve always wanted to work in a hospital because I’ve looked up to most of my family who worked in hospitals either as nurses or doctors etc. it’s amazing to see someone who shares what being a doctor is like and the different scenarios that you may occur. It’s also fun to see that you play the violin which I also play and I’m getting ok at it. In my high school there are different classes you can take based off what you want to do. There is actually lots of courses where you can go into nursing/doctoring. I know I need to do more research about which kind of doctor I want to be but I think it’s pretty cool that you do this.
Oh man, I love how many different specialities and perspectives (EDIT: "professions" is the word I'm looking for...) you folks include in your ICU rounds. Pharmacists on a hospital ward are still a rare sight in my country and I doubt that the university hospital I'm studying at has enough dietitians on staff to regularly send them on rounds. I really hope that this will change in the future - even as a medical student I already notice how easy it is to just focus on the aspects of medical care you're familiar with, while totally loosing sight of the many other important parts.
Ever since my mom went to the ER (she's ok now, but she might need surgery), I've been interested in becoming a doctor, even though I'm terrified of blood/guts. Watching your videos has helped me gain a lot of insight on what you have to do, so thank you! I'll definitely consider becoming a doctor in the future.
This was very difficult for me to watch. 2 years ago I developed very severe OHSS from an IVF cycle. I was in the ICU for 2 weeks, I went into kidney failure, I had 27L of fluid drained from my abdomen, both lungs and from around my heart. I’m forever thankful for the team of nurses and doctors that worked round the clock to keep me alive. It was the scariest time in my life, but also for my family that had to watch me so ill. I pray for everyone in the ICU, their families and the team that care for them. Thank you.
I know this really isn’t your usual content but I would love to see what your days off, look like! You don’t seem to get many(or at least we always see you working) so I would love to see what errands you run. If you’re able to visit with friends or if they just consist of studying up! Love your video and your positivity!
I love your vlogs!! You and your hospital seem really great!! I had an airway emergency a year and a half ago(double pneumonia that went into ARDS) and if not for the AMAZING care I recieved in the ICU I would not be here committing this. THANK YOU so very much for the care and compassion you have for your patients!!!
I have been in the ICU for 10 months. I have appendicitis, dance and a baby in my stomach! I have been intubated multiple time and I am curly on life support. I have also been the one to have a code blue. I have had heart surgery to, during my 10 months. I have had many other surgeries too, during this time. One of the surgeries has been to remove my appendix, which is when it burst. So now I also have blood poising. I have cancer, and can not get the treatment I need as I am pregnant. I am on many medications and I have many, many tubes in me. Most of the medications I am on I am allergic to, but I have to be on them or I will die. One like will wish me and my baby to get out of the ICU quickly!
I loved hearing you say “2nd year!” So exciting! I’ve been binge watching your videos the past few hours.. it’s so interesting to me. I’ve been so interested in the medical field but I got pregnant when I was 20.. I was a single mom and wasn’t able to get into school and now that I’m 27 I feel like any job in the medical field is almost impossible for me. But it’s awesome watching your journey!
I love watching these. She's so charistmatic and so beautiful. I'm studying arts and humanities but this is just so interesting to me. Love this channel
The tubing that she got from the cabinet at 4:30 is a Salem sump tube used for gastric drainage. Other supplies that she got also was a BD 60-ml catheter tip syringe, lubricating jelly, and adhesive tape (to secure the tube).
just finished my first year of Occupational Therapy at Mac 😊 i’ve watched every one of your videos as I recover from getting 4 wisdom teeth removed. Your warmth and compassion shine through in each video (it’s captivating) I can’t wait to watch you grow xo
I am going to college in a couple weeks going in as an intended business major and you make me want to become a doctor!! I have spent the last week binge watching all your vlogs and I can't stop!! Keep up the amazing work and keep up with the vlogs because they are so interesting. It is rare you see someone in this field also taking up on something as creative and fun as making videos!
I recently discovered your channel and I can’t stop watching! I’m fascinated by hospitals and the medical field but am much too weak stomached to actually be involved in it. Your videos are very informative and entertaining for a little look inside without being gross to people like me. Thank you!
i've always wanted to become a nurse since i was little. and you inspire me so much! every day i'm always looking forward to your videos. you are very very inspiring💓 one of my favorite you tubers:)💛💛💛
Love your videos so much. I have anxiety around the medical field, and your videos help ease that. I am also so appreciative of the wonderful people around also willing to share.
I just found your channel within the last 24 hours and absolutely love it! I used to watch all sorts of medical shows on TV when I had cable. This seems like one of those amazing medical shows that I used to watch! You're very good at explaining everything. It's all very interesting.
I am actually super excited to follow your practice in Canada! I am an acute care rehab professional in the US currently but transferring up to Canada soon. I am eager to see the similarities and differences between the two systems. I recognize a lot of the basics are the same which is super reassuring. I love your education, as well. I feel like I learn something new each time you post!
So I very recently found your Channel and right now I have watched about 4 to 5 videos consecutively of yours, I clicked the home youtube button because I thought I had seen enough at least for now and then another one of your videos pops up in the home screen and I clicked it and here I am again, for some reason I can't stop watching your videos they are super interesting!
Whenever I watch your videos, for some reason, it reignites my desire to go to med school. I'm currently in undergrad working on pre-reqs and it gets very tough and it's easy to get discouraged but your videos are always so interesting it helps remind me why I want to do it so thanks
This was hard to watch as my mum recently passed away in ICU from sepsis and MOF with pneumonia. So interesting to see how things work in the USA compared to the UK. I love your upbeat personality and how much you're allowed to share with us, that would never be allowed here 😳
Another great video! The Juravinski ICU is one of my favourite wards (it's very comfortable down there for patients)! Been down there a few times over the number of years. It can get pretty busy and pretty hectic in the iCU for sure. I'm glad you do these videos - its great to show others what it's like in the different wards and units at the Juravinski Hospital (my second home). It's also great to see some familiar faces! Thanks again for doing these videos.
You are so positive and happy to watch. I was just in for day surgery yesterday and I can tell you: It makes a HUGE difference when the medical team is positive! Thank you for sharing your joy and hope with the world. I'm also a musician :)
I think it is insanely awesome you are allowed to film so much and give such an incredible insight into your daily life and what it actually entails being a healthcare practitioner. Thank you so much for these videos! They are so entertaining and enjoyable
I’m usually not the type of person to watch this hospital stuff, but for some reason I really like your videos!! You have some cool videos and I really like them😁😁👍🏻
It’s crazy to think that the first time I watched your videos, you were at 40,000 subscribers and now you have over 100,000. My heart is so full knowing your gaining the recognition you deserve. Your content are always so interesting and very educational ❤️❤️❤️
You should do videos where you teach about certain medical problems with patients, I’m a nursing student and you little animations when you explain something makes so much sense to me!
I love your Vlogs! As someone who has been in the ICU many many times, it’s cool to see what my drs where doing for my care! This video really hit home for me because I have been intubated, and was on the respirator for a lot longer than originally thought because I had pneumonia that was really bad. I hope all of your patients got well and got to leave the hospital quickly! Thanks for the awesome video! Can’t wait till next Saturday!!
I am a new grad RN working on a neuro tele Unit, and it is very interesting for me to see pt care from the perspective of a resident MD. Thank you for your vlogs!
You have THE best doctor vlogs! You actually shows us inside which is awesome and super informative. I loved seeing the team you work with and what being a doctor is actually like! Keep up the great work :)
love the dramatic music during the emergency intubation prep! and so cool to get a chance to see the team and get a sense of what it is really like. super job as usual :)
All research has shown that every diet fails. 95% of people who do any diet will regain the weight, and dieting more often causes people to gain even more than they’d lost on the diet. I did the keto diet in my 20s, lost 50 lbs, kept it off for years. I did it under doctor supervision. I received praise everywhere I went. Then my kidneys started to shut down, so I had to modify my diet. I started to gain weight, would cut things out, would lose it again. I weight cycled for the next 10 years. Eventually, my body refused to lose any more weight. I had weight cycled so much, no form of diet would have an impact, and I developed an eating disorder. Right in the midst of that, before a surgery, a surgeon told me I should lose weight before the surgery, which was completely crazy given my history, and advising a patient to starve themselves before a major surgery is irresponsible. It’s the first time I ignored a doctor’s advise and knew I had been advised to do something harmful. Surgery went well, I am healthier now than I have been in years (yay!). I’m also heavier than ever - which is slightly more than I weighted before I lost the initial 50 lbs in my 20s. Just like every study on every diet says happens the majority of the time! I WISH I HAD NEVER DONE IT! The damage to my metabolism, my kidneys and my mental health by dieting - keto in particular, but food rules in general - is one of the greatest health challenges I had to deal with in my life. I also work in a hospital, and I’m surrounded by diet culture. The medical community is just now starting to understand the harm caused my weight stigma in health care and in society. I’m sad to see such a young doctor on board with this harmful messaging. Siobhan, maybe you would consider reframing this message, to something like, “I feel better when I eat more protein. While I enjoy afternoon treats, I find I don’t perform as well once the sugar leaves my system, so I’m not going to have a treat this afternoon as I want to feel alert.” Did you know that middle-aged women are more likely to develop disordered eating behaviors than teenagers? I know that none of this information is proactively offered to med students and residents, (because this is a systemic bias which harms patients, and I have a loved one who is a first year resident in your area). If you would like to learn more about why you should reconsider talking about diets in your videos, I suggest you start here: obesitycanada.ca/ They have a wealth of information and strategies specifically for clinicians to communicate with patients about weight management. I also suggest you gradually start taking in health at every size material. I love the podcast “food psych”, it would be an easy way to absorb the information on the go. I do enjoy your videos, and I’m passionate about health care too. I do hope you will take some of this on board.
chricket Keto diet isn’t good alone. Often it can cause ketoacidosis, which is deadly. This is because the diet doesn’t allow to eat certain things vital to human functioning. Keto is great mixed in with other diets though!
You are so awesome😊 I love your videos so much. I am a 13 year old girl who dreams to be a general surgeon when I grow up. Your videos help me visualize what it’s really like working in a hospital. Thankyou so much😊
I absolutely love your videos. They make me that much more excited for residency and med school! Thanks for sharing your experiences to inspire people like me to enter the medical field!
You are such an inspiration to me! I hope to be a doctor someday and be like you when I’m older. Keep doing what you’re doing, your patients are so lucky to have you!❤️
I’m not studying medicine but your videos are truly intriguing and so great to learn from, even though it’s not the path I’m taking. Thank you for making great quality videos! P.S you genuinely sound like such a kind person... I’m sure your patients are lucky to have you as their doctor!
You are amazing person. You have inspired me to have a career somewhere in the medical field. Thanks to you I have gotten interested in medical procedures, diseases, x-rays plus much more. I just wanted to say thank you for making your videos and saving lives everyday. See ya the next time you upload.
Fyi... I found your vlog a few days ago, and have been beng watching ever since! It's so nice to see how happy you are and how much you enjoy your chosen car career. Congrats on finishing your 3rd year and heading to rheumatology!
I kept coming back to watch your videos, purely out of interest since I’ve never had a desire to become a doctor or anything alike & I realised I wasn’t subscribed!! Your videos are great, and so informative. You have another (sort of) subscriber!
Hey, I'm a brand new subscriber. I love Your channel. I recognize everywhere that You walk around. I just Love St. Joes and everyone that works there. I'v been there many times and once for months with necrotizing fascitis. I really feel that I wouldn't be alive today without Your staff. I get so emotional evertime I just drive by. Bless You and everyone that toils there out of the kindness of there hearts. ❤❤❤
In the US, the bedside nurses are the ones trained on insertion of enteral tubes (both drainage ones like shown in the video, and those that enter the duodenum and are used to provide nutrition). Interesting to see a physician excited about probing the alimentary tract.
Absolutely OBSESSED with your videos. Love it! Keep up the good work, you're awesome. Makes me fall in love with medicine all over again. This is super inspiring and motivational! You're great 😊😊
It’s amazing that you’re allowed to film in the hospital! My hospital made it clear that I’d get into big trouble if I did! Amazing video as always
Oh really? yeah I agree, I feel really fortunate that they have been so open and welcoming!
Violin MD I’m glad! Love to see American practice
yeah I wish we could see more of what it's like over the pond! who knows, maybe in the future!
Violin MD I change hospitals in two weeks so who knows!!! ❤️❤️❤️ stay tuned haha
🇨🇦

Must feel good saying " second year " now!
Absolutely it really does! Although also a bit scary because of the responsibility jump that's coming next month (you will see!!)
Violin MD how old are you?!
I would think it's a little bit boring not to get more responsibility right from the start of the second year.
Yeye and yßy3ye6ey are going even better 6:53 and 😮😢

Yee she beats Dr. Mike by faaaar
The Asian girl at 5:30 is SO PRETTY omg. She looked so effortlessly cool in the minutes before too. Goals.
I thought was the only one who noticed that lol... Very attractive (both of them)
Watching your channel lowers my anxiety about seeing my doctor. I realize that his demeanor is probably due to stress sometimes, and seeing all the things you need to deal with makes me empathize with doctors more.
I think we should all make it a point to say thank you to our doctors.
Your videos always encourage me...I am a medical aspirant and want to become a doctor..
Wonderful to hear that Firoz - good luck on your journey!!
Best of luck! Praying for a smooth transition for you & a great journey!

I love how passionate she speaks about medicine. She's totally meant to be doctor !
She is just so likeable, the happiest doctor I have ever seen
It’s so weird hearing you say second year resident lol. Super proud of how well you’re thriving!!
Thank you so much!
I can’t believe I was expecting to see her actually intubate a patient.. I forgot this is not greys anatomy” 😂❤️❤️❤️❤️
Right?! I was oh yeah, HIPPA 😂
Ik im a year old, but not much to see lmao
Just her starin into the patient's throat
As an EMT and having been on tons of intubations
It gets old 😂
What an incredibly positive and uplifting video. I am a violist, and have a dad with a severe condition in the hospital and I am learning much about the way things work.
I LOVE HOW YOUR ENTHUSIASM IS SO REAL AND IT REACHES OUT TO US! KEEP IT UP! I LOVE YOUUUUUU

Thanks Raymond - I agree actually, I'm really happy with this video, I feel like it gives you guys more insight into what it's really like!

aw thank you so much, that makes my day!!
Violin MD thank YOU for your time, dear! ❤ counting the days till the next video already

I admire how positive and upbeat you are.
I just came home from work in my Icu but watching this still made me smile. Icu is where it’s at! ☺️
I love watching your videos, I’m a nurse so it’s good to see the doctors side of their daily routines :)
I get so excited when you say "second year.." 😭😭😭😭💖💖💖💖💖

"Oh hey guys. Hahaha" 😂😂
heheheh 😂
Thank you!
I love your attitude & how your true amazing intentions shine through with everything.
You’re an amazing doctor ❤️❤️❤️
As a paramedic it’s so fun to see how doctors are trained in intubation. Love you and your videos ❤️
i love the videos. and how in all the videos i have seen your allways seem really happy and smiley. keep them going.
i've always wanted to become a nurse since i was little. and you inspire me so much! every day i'm always looking forward to your videos. you are very very inspiring💓 one of my favorite you tubers:)💛💛💛
I love your upbeat personality and how much you're allowed to share with us, that would never be allowed here 😳
Rae she is in Canada!
I like and appreciate her positive attitude and her application of common sense and medicine 💊 patients have positive results too.
You have some cool videos and I really like them😁😁👍🏻
You and doctor mike are my favorite!
Same
Watching this at the end of a 18 hrs shift of doing mostly skunt work. Thank you for the vid!!!
yikes sounds like a long tough day! glad you are enjoying the video!
Seriously obsessed with your channel. You are an amazing doctor.
I totally love your videos. Ive always wanted to be a doctor and you just really inspire me!
Would love to hear your thoughts on the keto diet. I’ve heard so many opinions on it that are either heavily good or bad.
MC doctor mike has a great video about it (at least in my oppinion)
While I enjoy afternoon treats, I find I don’t perform as well once the sugar leaves my system, so I’m not going to have a treat this afternoon as I want to feel alert.”
Did you know that middle-aged women are more likely to develop disordered eating behaviors than teenagers?
I know that none of this information is proactively offered to med students and residents, (because this is a systemic bias which harms patients, and I have a loved one who is a first year resident in your area). If you would like to learn more about why you should reconsider talking about diets in your videos, I suggest you start here:
obesitycanada.ca/
They have a wealth of information and strategies specifically for clinicians to communicate with patients about weight management.
I also suggest you gradually start taking in health at every size material. I love the podcast “food psych”, it would be an easy way to absorb the information on the go.
I do enjoy your videos, and I’m passionate about health care too. I do hope you will take some of this on board.
Doctors don’t get much training in nutrition
It only makes sense for people who have insulin resistance. I can't eat a lot of carbs so it's perfect for me but if I why a normal person would do it
chricket Keto diet isn’t good alone. Often it can cause ketoacidosis, which is deadly. This is because the diet doesn’t allow to eat certain things vital to human functioning. Keto is great mixed in with other diets though!
Oh man, this video brings back so many flashbacks to when my daughter was in NICU.
I needed your style of video 40 years ago. I would have found a way to go to med school. Maybe in a future life
Your energy makes me so happy! It’s very enjoyable to watch your videos.
You are so awesome😊 I love your videos so much. I am a 13 year old girl who dreams to be a general surgeon when I grow up. Your videos help me visualize what it’s really like working in a hospital. Thankyou so much😊

I kept coming back to watch your videos, purely out of interest since I’ve never had a desire to become a doctor or anything alike & I realised I wasn’t subscribed!! Your videos are great, and so informative. You have another (sort of) subscriber!

I was getting anxious studying for my driving test but ur videos always lift my spirit!! 💛💛💛💛
You're great 😊😊
This is a fantastic blog! As a firefighter, it's great to see what happens when we hand a patient off at the hospital. Keep up the great work!
Finally you are a second year medical resident 👏🏾 I love your scrubs❤️
