    I think there are moisturizing oils and there are sealing oils. Another word for moisturizer is emollient, and a another for emollient is OIL.❤️ I personally enjoy using a similar technique of applying water to my hair first and sealing with an oil like jojoba. Jojoba is an example of a non-moisturizing oil because it does not penetrate the hair shaft and yet it works GREAT as a sealing oil. Coconut oil is an example of a sealant AND moisturizing OIL. ❤️

    My scalp will be inflammed if I applied oil to by scalp and leave it in. However, if I wash my locs then do a oil rinse then rinse the oil out, I find my scalp and locs are extremely moisturized and my scalp isn’t itching and inflammed. You’ve taught me so much in my short time of being loc’d. Thank you so much!

    • @chimcham6762
      @chimcham6762 5 лет назад +2

      OctaviaMarie You should look into organic oils. Your scalp is probably very sensitive but everyone has different methods so you probably don’t need to apply oil to your scalp. My scalp gets really dry easily so I have to apply oil directly to my scalp to seal in my moisture otherwise my hair and scalp get dry super fast.

    • @KeishaCharmaine
      @KeishaCharmaine  5 лет назад +2

      OctaviaMarie I’ve never heard anyone say that oil causes inflammation on their scalp. As @chim cham said above, I’d look into the ingredients in the oil you’re using. Blessings!

      @atumnefer 5 лет назад +1

      After surgery and antibiotics which I learned caused intestinal imbalance I am now the same. Oils directly to the scalp were never a problem before then. Today I dare not even tho I am balanced again the scalp says nope organic or not to my all life favorite, castor oil even Jamaican Black, hells no to coconut, Vit E, etc. We can't even do shea. 😭 I now pour oil in water on my locs or let them soak in rosewater and oils as a final rinse and that's it. In between washes its rosewater and vitamim E spritz. My locs are 16 years old counting.

    • @oneprayingmama1680
      @oneprayingmama1680 3 года назад

      I can't use oils anymore either--any oil, organic or otherwise. Castor oil is the worse. Makes my scalp feel alive with worms. I use rosewater and aloe vera gel only. Shampoo with Neutrogena anti-residue. Over time our bodies can change and develop allergies. You just have to avoid what causes the trouble.

    Hello, Keisha! Thanks for your video! I've been locked for almost 7 months. I have been moisturizing with rose water, peppermint oil and a couple other oils on my scalp. I rarely spray the locs though. My question is while you are moisturizing & massaging the scalp (which I do daily)- how do you keep the roots intact still or preserve the retwist while still placing the health of your hair first? I sleep with a scarve and bonnet (for extra protection) at night. Once I get it retwisted and start to do my moisturizing routine, after a while my hair looks like wasn't retwisted lol. I don't know whether it's new growth or whether my retwist becomes undone because of the rose water mixture and the way I massage my hair. I massage my scalp the same way you do in the vid. Thanks for your help!!

    I am 8 months lot this January 25th. my stylist keeps telling me that I'm not supposed to apply moisture meaning water to my hair because it will loosen the retwist. When my retwist is about 3 weeks old, I asked her again whether I should apply water to my hair and she said no. Your video says that I'm supposed to use water to moisturize my hair. Who should I listen to, and what should I do to moisturize my extremely dry 4C locs?

    Hey Keisha, I know you're not a loctictian but I have a question. Had my locs since September 8 and they are budding all over. A few even look like actual locs. The rest have really big puffy kinda loose feeling buds and some hair sticks out of them. I try to wrap those hair around the loc. Its been like this for the past couple months. Seems like they're at a stand still and nothings happening, or maybe its just gonna take time to do what its gonna do. What do you think? Oh i have been retwisting them myself. Is it something else i should be doing? I regularly mist and then oil my hair too

    • @mikannam3129
      @mikannam3129 5 лет назад

      Im not a loctician, but id say its most likely because you have different curl patterns in your head, most people have a mix of two different patterns. My hair texture is looser around the perimeter and it took an extra few months for those to loc. You can try palm rolling them or maybe even look into crocheting if theyre /very/ unmanageable (not the most recommended method tho)

    Doesn’t moisturized areas (for instance a corner in a house in the basement that just endured a floor). It begins to smell and potentially mold. Will that same thing happen if the oil seals it in?

    • @KeishaCharmaine
      @KeishaCharmaine  5 лет назад +1

      Joyce Lennix that’s if your hair is too wet and doesn’t dry in a timely manner. A light misting all over should suffice.

    • @KeseyMusa
      @KeseyMusa 5 лет назад

      Joyce Lennix if your hair is wet and doesnt dry it will start smelling moldy, but if its moisturized and clean it will smell fresh💯
