  • With request by one of my followers on my Facebook page I had already spun the first part (which is long thin Equiv.to DK & thick bits every 30cm along the thin bits), so I decided you may still enjoy learning how to spin a Beehive Slub Yarn. This yarns a way for spinners to create some art yarn and have twice to three times the amount of meters or yards for their projects or buyers.
This yarn is what I really enjoy creating as its just stunning!
Fiber used in this video is called Cashmino-Silk: 55% 19mic Merino (Australian grown) 40% Mulberry Silk 5% Cashmere. Ultra Soft and lofty!
Hand painted my me in Happy Unicorn
Ply thread used: 4ply constructed Italian Silk with gold metallic thread.
Duration to spin: 3.5hours for me.

Anything with volume, I go with a fiber top (roving) of 19 - 21microns as its easier to work with and is still soft for close to skin wears. Being in Australia Merino is my favourite.

The fiber mix has a base fiber of merino with silk and cashmere to make it all the more silky and soft. So if you wanted to go with luxury blends make sure its got a high percentage of wool.

You also want to keep the thick bits half the size of your wheels orifice. So when you form the beehive it will be able to pass through it.

Awesome. I love this. I just purchased a new to me Majacraft Aura to try art yarn on.
Any tips ? I’m nervous about over twisting it. Thank you
