@Eddie Gooden No worries mate! I understood what you meant, took no offense to it in the slightest :) I always really appreciate a follow up comment like this, but I thought you previous comment was a totally fair observation
Cheers! Yeah, I try to format these videos so if you just want licks you can get them and for those of us who like to deconstruct stuff and work out what's going on there's a bit of insight.
Cheers man! Yeah, I tend to try and explain what's going on in terms of the theory- makes stealing people's ideas way easier, lol! Have you got a favourite lick out of these ones?
Awesome, great to hear that, thanks so much! There's something about his playing where he just seems to really connect to something special, you know? Caught him live ages ago, one of those sort of almost transcendental experiences, really sublime. I'd totally be up for doing a Vai course, that's a great idea! I've done some other stuff on him, chucked it all in a playlist - ruclips.net/p/PLYhEisv6jlbuWtieWbRU4qU2O8VStb784 hopefully there's some more useful Vai-isms and stuff for you in there!
Thanks , I particularly like the way you give us hints. On how to build other licks from pieces of an existing one . Thanks for the playlist. Must have been awesome to see him ,pleased you managed to do that. I’m hoping to see next time he’s here for a concert or clinic . All the best Paul
Cheers dude! I've been wanting to do some Nuno stuff for a while, Satch would be cool; great suggestions! I'll pop both of those on my ever growing to-do list :)
Cheers dude! My first times hearing Vai, it just sounded like a totally new language! Took a good while to find out that Lydian was a significant part of his vocabulary :)
@@JbfMusicGuitar tbh, I'm really just getting my feet wet with this stuff and getting my ear to hear and understand the modes. This was really an "aha moment", the minute you starting playing the licks it was instantly recognizable as that vai sound I've been hearing all my life. to answer the question, yes absolutely lol
@@dakotablackburn3054 Great! It's always such a fulfilling process when we start to demystify some seemingly otherworldly playing. If you listen out for it you'll hear a lot of Lydian in film scores as well- usually when hinting at romance or when things are safe/comfortable.
@@JbfMusicGuitar I think the first one is the easiest to integrate into another run.. I'd love see a 3 note per string lydian run that can be readily moved about to suit key. 😊

@@JbfMusicGuitar Vai is my favorite player! I thrashed Passion and Warfare in my teens.
Awesome lesson 🤘🏻
Thanks bud! Are there any licks in particular that are going in your arsenal?

You can only play on one neck at a time?
Sadly, unlike the man himself, I am very much limited to one neck at a time. Total fraud! XD
Please do Kirk hammett
