In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines history, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this expansion. Just 21 toll booths. $42 to get to work, $42 back = $84 in toll charges. $15 min wage, 8 hour shift = $120 day. They made $36 that day not including rent, gas, utilities, bills. BIFFA FOR PREZ!!!

Good idea, but if I’m not mistaken vehicles despawn (even with despawning disabled in the traffic manager) if they are unable to reach their destination.

I think they were changing lanes to get to lanes with shorter lines for the tolls. It looks like if there's a car paying the toll then a car will use another lane that's empty.

Ye huge toll booth on the exit and I mena HOOGE, and set taxes to the limit. They'll pay either way.
Set all tourist attractions to free, too. You'll then see several hundred banking agencies pop up by the squiggly toll road exit, dutifully "helping" families that go instantly bankrupt as they try to leave the city. Also, used car dealerships. Trade in your brand new car for a smelly clunker, and get at least enough money to leave the city. Also cowboy stations. Folks on horses wranglin' up families who outright abandon their cars mid-journey and try to sneak out by foot without paying.
Arty Ivanenko make it a sort of incentive for people to come in, like a free mo th of rent, and when they want to leave they have to pay thousands for tolls

I did the calculations for the second version of tolls: 39 tolls at 4$ each means it costs 156$ to enter or leave the city. (Then multiply per car passing through). Last model is 108$ to enter or leave
You should just cut the highway and force the people thats even just passing through to pay massive tolls

I put tolls at all the highway entrances to my city because everytime I checked the source & destination of my congested roads jt was always personal cars from outside the city causing problems. I have pretty decent public transit but will need to do some metro reworks soon. I'm annoyed because i have an airport and trainstation to soak up intercity visitors.
I just wish xbox version had useful mods and not just random assets. (I would kill for traffic manager to optimize intersections, lane mathmatics can only do so much)

Make the highway go in the city and through the tolls just to drive past the city you have to pay thousands of dollars. (Ea games sound and logo plays)

With the toll booth, there was 42 booth which cost 120 each with a tool expenditure of 5040 - Profit of 4610 leaves a net loss of 430. I have observed similar losses with tool booths I have used in my cities. However, I have found that profit can be made when there is heavy traffic on a road and a toll booth is used . However, it's interesting how past a certain number of tool booth that cars and truck will refuse to travel through them. If the amount paid at toll booths could be set higher than the default max amount then perhaps this could be sued as a measure to reduce traffic in certain parts of the city and encourage mass transport and walking.

What if you did this... make the entrance to the city a really long stretch of 6 Lane Highway that funnels to a single Lane Road. Then queue hundreds and hundreds of toll roads. Paste in a bunch of huge new sections so there is an enormous traffic jam. Then disconnect the single-lane road and run it into the huge chain of toll roads and see how much money you make.

Im not trying to game the system with toll roads but I have them at all 4 points of entry on the map. I even divided them into 2 per entry side by side so traffic can through. So I noticed that the money is not be counted or added properly. I have a bare map. No city built yet. Nothing to support. I even added the mod which allows to charge more at the toll roads and still no change.
Its clearly a glitch. Not sure if anyone is aware of it..... Or maybe how to fix it?

6:00 i know i'm years late, but the reason for this is that the game calculates the distance the Car/Pedestrian has to travel, if the shortest route is above a certain threshold, he will simply teleport there, hence why you have noone going thourgh your tollbooths, but houses are being built, seemingly out of thin air, because they are, they are teleported there.
I always saw the turnpikes in Jersey like this.

I did something similar, BUT I split the 3 lanes of traffic, sent them each to the middle of a large 6 lane "roundabout" where they were only allowed to move one lane out per rotation, with a tool booth in the roundabout.. So each car had to go through the same toll booth 6 times before getting out and merging back with the other lanes. Still breakeven at best lol
You need to surround every building with a toll booth in addition to the 27 toll booth to enter and leave.
Tolls aren't scams if they only charge the cost needed to cover repairs and maintenance.
Better to have cheap tolls and no taxes,.

if you use traffic president you can up the toll speed to 100kp/h or 100mp//h idk exactly (fast) , and if you then turn on electronic tolls your cims wont slow down in the tolls

for me the toll roads actually increase the expenses, so for me they are barely paying for themselves...

So... what would happen if, hypothetically, a driver/resident had run out of cash halfway through? Would the traffic be held up at the booth? Would an offroad tow truck come and take him away? Obviously, forget the actual game mechanics. What could result from that?

The government would use some toll-by-plate method using cameras and license plates. They WILL find the owner of that vehicle and collect their money. This is how it is done in real life.
The reason they move to different lanes when exiting the toll booths and entering them is probably a game mechanic in order to almost slow traffic down to a halt, which would stop people from abusing toll booths like you’re doing lol

Honestly I feel like the cars are switching lines like that at the tolls because like the local ones around me have what you call an ez pass. You pay online before for that year or something and you get a little thing to put on your front window. You don't have to stop really. Just for it to read the pass. They have designated lanes for that. Some also have designated lanes for like trucks, or cash only. Meaning you can only pay with cash. Idk if skylines has this implemented or not but that is how it works in real life. Atleast in like West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and maybe North Carolina now. Ive seen people try to cut across the entire thing to get into the right lane. Ive seen where accidents has happened too because of people doing stuff like that.
